Re: AI Passes 75% of the Time

I've been slow simming a lot of games to work on sim stats. I've gone thru about 10 games now. Sometimes I went with whatever playbook was assigned. Other times I went with a generic book. I did 15 minute quarters with no clock mods. Each team runs 100-120 plays a game. This was the run/pass ratio.

    1154 passes (66.5%)
    580 runs (33.5%)

Those are pretty terrible splits when you consider the Commanders have the highest pass % and they are at 68%. It's like playing the Commanders every week.

I did give the Bears the generic Spread PB. They had 47 passes, 46 runs. I'm to give a pass happy team the same playbook and see what they have for a ratio.

Re: AI Passes 75% of the Time

I just uploaded a test playbook.

      File Name: RUNHVY1
      PSN: Iteachhistory78

It is hopefully designed to provide more running game for the AI. I would appreciate any findings.

Are you able to assign a custom book to the CPU? This causes the game to crash or have no players on the field when I try.

In Play Now you can using a 2nd controller, with a second profile that has the playbook downloaded. You can then assign it and then before the kickoff go to controller select and move it back to the middle. the kickoff you have to be both teams but then the AI takes over that team.

It does not work in Franchise except for CPU vs CPU. There is a work around by creating a player for the team you are going to play. I think you use a 3rd string QB to make it work.

I always wonder if they make on the fly changes to online CFMs, or if there is some algorithm that changes the way the CPU calls plays by taking in live data.

My last 3 CFM games the CPU has run the ball 20+ times.

Game I just finished up had the CPU with 42 pass attempts, 2 sacks, and 7 carries, 2 of which were scrambles. So 45 passes were called to 5 designed runs.

I hope they are tuning this as we speak…I played a cloud CFM last night at TEN vs. NO, and NO threw 11 passes to just 2 runs in the first quarter…

I think it’s worth looking into to see how things stat out over a full season on the cloud vs. offline, but I’ve yet to personally see a well-balanced game in my test games.

The more data & perspective, the better, and if we can either confirm that someone over there knows something’s up, or if we can figure out what’s leading to the skewed percentages for those that are seeing that, that’d be great!

I don't know if using live playbooks make a difference but while it's certainly not where it should be,I haven't seen anything ridiculous lately.

Unless I have a fairly big lead I haven't seen the cpu totally abandon the run.

I know when I was using regular playbooks it seemed to be a wider margin.I certainly don't want to make it seem that I'm confident that this is the answer though.

GR18, do you know if they fixed live playbooks this year so the CPU doesn’t automatically get assigned AZ when you turn this feature on?

I believe it was the last 2 years where if you tried to use live PBs, the CPU would get assigned the AZ book automatically, so it’s like you were playing the Cards every week.

If they fixed these, I’ll 100% go that route and try those.

15 minute quarters with 11 second run off, default playbooks. I sim defense and play offense only.

Raiders did a pretty good split despite being down most of the game. 20231128_090114.jpeg20231128_090129.jpeg

I've been doing a lot of testing and I've found that the following playbooks tend to lean towards the run more than others.

                        Bears
                        Cowboys
49ers (this PB can get pass happy at times)

When you look at the sim engine this problem is broken the other way. The run % is way too high. In my CFM Trevor Lawrence is a 90+ Factor who is completing 75% of his passes. They have thrown 40% of the plays which is insanely low.

Actually I don't know for sure but you have to change your team playbook at the start of the game which makes me suspicious.

On the other hand,I've played enough teams to see the Bears and Ravens qbs use designed qb runs while other teams that have qbs that don't normally run never do.That would lead me to believe teams are using their playbooks.

Just beat the Bucs in. a close one. 23-20. Bucs were down most of the game with one score. Despite this they ran the ball a ton. Actually 40 rushing attempts while only having 25 drop backs. Pretty cool.

I am using 10 minutes quarter with acc clock off.
