    Sincere question about corner routes

Why do you think Madden has always given the offense the corner route since it’s inception. I mean in real life there are coverages that can cover it with out jumping through hoops and it’s not an easy throw with the angle. You have to put air under it. Anyway, is it purposeful or just something they can’t program?

Re: Sincere question about corner routes

I think the prevalence of corner routes in Madden is more systemic of other defensive deficiencies in Madden unrelated to corner routes more than anything else.

Cover 1 should in theory take away the slot corner route out-of-the-box since the CBs are all leveraged outside. However, historically no one plays Cover 1 in Madden because 1 - drag routes have always been incredibly effective; and 2 - Madden has never implemented Banjo / Bingo coverage calls which real NFL teams use to play man coverage against Bunch formations. Bunch remains one of the most popular formations in competitive Madden play because there are so few effective defenses against passing plays out of Bunch. Notably, pure man-to-man defense simply is not an option against Bunch.

Bunch forces defenses into a couple stop-the-bleeding spot-drop zone coverage calls to stop one-play touchdowns and other easy pass plays, which in turn can be easily exploited by zone-manipulating route combinations. For example, the corner route in Sail concepts can easily defeat spot drop Cover 3.

The tl;dr is that EA Sports has ignored implementing modern football pass coverage in their football games for a long time and we are all suffering for it lol.

I can never connect on corner routes. Overthrown, or swatted down. Guy has to be WIDE OPEN for it to connect.

How can you get them to get open? Giving up way too many interceptions

I prefer deep threat WR, and scheme them open with motion if available. Most of the time I check down as that's the only option.

I can’t either, I just can’t place a deep ball out of the DBs reach unless it’s a straight go route

I have noticed in this years game that any deep passes are difficult, no matter the route. I don't think I have had a 400 yard passing game yet because most of my throws are 10 yards or less. Even if my receiver is opened on a corner or a post route the safety will just break to the receiver and knock it out
