But seriously I would like the atmosphere be different when playing the Super Bowl compared to a week 5 game against the Lions. I'm sure it is hard to convey that in a video game, but it would be cool.

Aside from team specific Endzones....


it seems like superbowl coverages, in general, have that extra level of presentation when compared to the regular season

* more stat overlays
* special way to introduce players/starting positions
* added camera angles

so..I kinda cheated here........but...'extra presentation' would be my vote

The urgency in the players when the game was on the line in the dying moments.

Players to not snap the ball after 10 seconds when there is 11 seconds left in the game..

The snap count time needs fixing all together, or let us adjust it.

Go Steelers! For presentation, if I had to choose ONE thing, I guess it would be the constant overlays (Warner 3/3, 80 yards last drive, etc.) and the thing on the bottom where it shows how long the drive has been, how many plays, yards, etc. during a drive.

Be careful with this stuff, it can get in the way when trying to read the field pre snap

Personally, i want to see the wind do something. I know there are windy games, and i think the art director or more accurately the game design needs to reflect very windy games. I want to see the grass breeze, toilet paper flying through the field etc.

my one thing is, also, team specific endzone art. if possible do as they do most of the time. because it is the super bowl, make it different than the teams home field. for those that are going to say they dont change for the super bowl, check for yourself before you comment.

Team endaone art and could every superbowl in franchise have a specific suprbowl log for like 15 years, intstead of superbowl XLIV XLV and XLVI then generic SUPERBOWL for everyone after. I would like to see you put your own designs in for a few seasons so every superbowl would look unique and special whether u win it in year 2 or year 10.

One thing....I'd say the trophy presentation. With your coach and your teams SB player of the game are at the podium. Along with the falling confetti.

Guess I'll add my two cents.

One thing that would really make the Super Bowl feel unique is the coach and player expressions and actions on the sidelines during the game and in the 4th Quarter.

Larry Fitzgerald's face after the Holmes catch is an example of something that you'll see during the most important game of the year, not during week 6 of the regular season. I'm not saying to duplicate his exact reaction, but players should react to critical moments in Playoff and Super Bowl games.

The Gatorade bath of the coach after a game is "out of reach" is something that would be nice to see.

Even if these were cutscenes that would be fine.

Of course the pre/post-game activities are things that need to be addressed, but that seems obvious to everyone by now.

I have to agree with this guy. While I would like to see graphics of in-game stats as I'm driving down the field, etc., I would love to have cut scenes put into this game. Of course, they would be contextualized, so crunch time in the bowels of the 4th quarter in the Super Bowl would show players and coaches on the sidelines knotted-up in tension, while 2nd quarter scenarios during the regular season would show more casual interactions on the sidelines. On-field cut scenes would be great, too. Show close-ups of the fans frozen in suspense. Gatorade baths. Replays from plays earlier in the game. Make us feel like we're watching this stuff unfold.

Hey Michael,

One word... EMOTION.

I didn't expect Super Bowl 43 to have so much energy, but man did we get hit with it. I've only seen a few Super Bowls where two teams were so emotionally charged and left everything out on the field and you could just feel it.

Part of the way this was communicated was through the way NBC shot the game. Notice how often the stadium lights kept getting shown in shots? NBC realizes that it adds something to the picture. Notice how the lights had those long streaking tails on them? That's how they look live, but Madden's stadium lights don't look live, they look more like how they look in Photographs (See this thread http://www.operationsports.com/forum...on-effect.html ) You don't want the photograph look, you want the live streaky look because it makes sense to the concept of showing Madden as a live NFL broadcast.

And about the scenes NBC caught... When players and coaches were in an important discussion about a play or strategy, they caught it. When the fans were going bananas at the right moment, they caught it. When Jeff Reed was warming up kicking into the practice net when the Steelers thought they would have to kick a late field goal try to tie it, they caught it. When Mike Tomlin started pacing and looking nervous after Fitzgerald scored and the Steelers were hitting the field for that last drive, they caught it. When a close field-level replay (something Madden is completely missing at the moment) was necessary after a big hit on the QB or how the camera was right there to pick up on how Santonio Holmes made that big late catch, or how they picked up Steve Breaston during his big catch and during the post-play of it... they caught it all. They seemed to never miss a beat.

Where 09 fell flat was that when big moments like that were about to happen there was no cutscene before it to ramp you up to the play like 07 had. And after the big play ends in 09, the camera either does some strange far-away-from-the-field-shot, or starts slowly drifting away. It just snaps you right out of the experience.

With the NBC broadcast of the Super Bowl, there was a rhythm to the way the game was shot and it really made the emotion of the game come through.

So say you had every game in Madden like this, and then for the playoffs and Super Bowl you amped it up with more intense (new) cutscenes and commentary we don't see/hear in Exhibition and regular season... if that happens we might all have heart attacks, but at least we'd all die happy men

If EA wants to make Madden the head honcho of Sports games just please input all of what Joborule's post talks about. I know this can not be done in one year, or maybe it can if you guys buckle down, but in the next 2-3 years MAX i would expect all of this stuff that Joborule talks about, to be in Madden, if not then that is just SAD.
