Re: evidence of a possible broken gameplay element in Madden 10
There are between 5-10 tfl in any game. That statistic alone does not mean a whole lot. It's hard to judge gameplay issues on statistics. We should all wait for gameplay videos.Last edited by shttymcgee; 02-16-2009, 05:28 PM.Comment

Re: evidence of a possible broken gameplay element in Madden 10
I never said it was necessarily an issue, but merely that it could be a hint of one.
15 TFL between 3 DEs on the same team is not a good sign (even if that is through 3 games).
24 TFL between 6 players is not a good sign either (especially when a lot of them are coming from backups on the D-line, who knows how many total TFL are involved when you involve the other starting LBs too).
I'm not saying the game is broken (because how would I know that? Not to mention there's a lot of work that the team has yet to complete), but it could be hinting at too many TFL (which is all I'm saying). Of course we'd have to see the game in action to make any real analysis, but to me it appears to be a statistical hint at a potential problem.
That being said, I have faith in the current development team and if they think there's an issue, they'll address it. If they don't, they won't and I believe that in the end they'll make the right decision for the game moving forward.Comment

Re: evidence of a possible broken gameplay element in Madden 10
Too many TFL's(especially in game) have been a longstanding issue in EA football games, due mainly to the nature of the OL/DL interaction, bad blocking schemes/A.I., and poor CPU RB A.I.
I'm pretty confident that the simulation numbers for Franchise mode will end up being on point, we'll have to see if the gameplay tuning will allow the in game numbers to be realistic as well.Jordan Mychal Lemos

I doubt gameplay is even close to final tuning at this point. It's February for god's sake!Comment

Yes, TFLs have been one of many of Maddens lackluster areas.....However if they deliver some new and improved Human and CPU Sliders to go along with the new OL/DL play....we could see a big improvement

Re: evidence of a possible broken gameplay element in Madden 10
In the picture shown in the blog talking about tackle assist and half sacks, there appears to be way too many sacks for a single game (I think it shows that there were 7 total.)
In 2005, there were 1182 sacks averaging out to 2.3 sacks per 2007 NFL season, there were 1102 total sacks so the average team was sacked 2.2 times per team per game. In In 2006, there were 1164 sacks averaging out to 2.3 sacks per team per game. In 2007 , there were 1102 sacks averaging out to sacks 2.2 times per team per game.
If the screenshot was in Franchise or Superstar mode, than please ignore this topic, but 7 sacks in one game is way to much.Comment

Re: evidence of a possible broken gameplay element in Madden 10
These were all simmed games. Meaning no gameplay was run to get these stats. It was all the sim engine.
Donny Moore and Josh Looman will be tuning the stat generation this year. It hasn't been touched from last year yet, so when you throw in all the new ratings that Donny did, we all kind of expected that the sim stats would need to get re-tuned.
I appreciate the critical eye. Makes me have the idea that it would be smart to release screenshots of simmed stats throughout the year to keep you guys in the loop as we actually tune this stuff.Comment

I love this idea.

TFL isn't even an NFL stat--it's a college football stat.
Part of EA's TFL problems occur when a 1st and 10 tackle results in a couple inch loss and it becomes 2nd and 10. Those plays count as TFLs. I don't think they should.
There are also way too many TFLs in simmed games in both Madden and NCAA.Twitter: @Palo50

Is it too late to change the navigation for the menus? The trigger thing is just awful, always has been. Yes there are more important things, but if this could be changed w/out too much trouble, I'd love it.PSN: JISTIC_OS
