    Ok, having thought about it I have changed my mind.

    As Guillotine says, every player on the D has their assignment which we will give them when we call the play. Once the play starts it should not be up to us to change their thought procees (If we want to be sim)

    It should be up to the individual AI of the player (based on their awareness rating) to then decide what best to do once the ball is snapped.

    If ratings are going to play such a huge part this year then let's make use of them more instead of having a button that 'magically' effects all the players at once.

    So in summary...get rid of it and let the individual players decide once a play is snapped. Possibly there could be a pre-snap option to tell the backers' to play the pass or run, but I think that's all that's needed.

      I'd say pre-play but not everybody should bite on PA..I guess that where the ratings come in.

        I must be the only one with this opinion but I actually like the run commit/pass commit option as is because it brings more "user interaction". Run commit pre-play isn't really realistic to be honest because YOU DON'T KNOW CERTAIN OFFENSE PERSONNEL OR FORMATIONS until you line-up at the line of scrimmage. How can you run commit pre play if you don't know or see the formation? What if the offense decideds to comes out in shot-gun or 3rd and 2? Some people here simply HAVE NOT played real football.

        I think the REAL beauty of this feature is during Play action type plays. There have been times where I have been burned with using run commit because of PA; Even though I was burned, I was cool with it because I knew I had did the run commit feature and my safety was completely out of position. I like that realism because I was fooled.

        I like this feature because "you" can make a mistake and it brings a level of user interaction into the game. You can keep it as is but maybe enhance it.

          The personnel indicator tell you how many WR, TE, & RB's the offense is putting on the field. This happens during play select bro...its been like this for years now dude.

            Thank you thank you THANK YOU for asking this question. I want to be able to continue to use it, I couldn't care less if its before or after the play, but IT MUST NEVER EVER BE CONFUSED FOR HIT STICK AGAIN!!!! Why the HELL would I use the hit stick as the safety, 15 yards off the ball, a half second after the play? WHY?????????????????????????????????? WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY????

            Nothing hurts worse than losing a league playoff game when trying to call pass commit on 3rd and 20, watching your opponet use play action, hitting the stick and watching your defender fall to the ground as TO goes wide f'ing open for the winning score. I KNEW IT WAS COMING!!!!! WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY????????????????????????? ????????????

              I voted to take it out, I would like it to be more on the Defensive players awareness, just like on Sunday...

                In practice, I pass committed at all times in this year's game. The running game never scared me. It was my complete inability to stop the pass at times that led me to call it every time.

                It's useful as a feature to be able to tell the defense, "Hey, it's 3rd and 20. I don't care if its a hand off to the back, don't get fooled. Let him run up the field for a while if need be." Or even, "It's 3rd and 1. Stuff this run.."

                I think as everyone has mentioned, if the AI took down and distance, the play call, and everything else into effect on a PA play, the AI shouldn't be fooled anyways.

                  It shouldn't be removed but just altered. I liked the idea of it being an option before the play even begins.

                    I personally think you should just remove it entirely. I think the way players react to the play should be based entirely on their ratings. I play with the Ravens and I think Ray Lewis should be swarming to the ball on almost every play, and an average linebacker should be a step late.

                    I am personally very excited for this years Madden because I think Ian and company are going to make the defense much more realistic. As well as have teams play to their strengths and weaknesses like never before. Maybe I will finally be able to win some games on-line by playing great defense and field position football!

                      That is true, but you still don't know the formation. If I see a certan run play out of a certain formation 4 times in a half, then I tend to start using the run commit. And even in real life, player's make plays alot of times by "reading" the play based on the formation at the line of scrimmage. They may have seen the same play/formation early in the game, or on tape during preparation. You don't know the fomation until you are at the line of scrimage.

                          I would say move it to pre-play. Here's my reason. Online, some people will run PA extensively even in obvious passing situations. Ideally, the AI should be able to deal with this, but traditionally, it hasn't. So I do think you should be able to do it in some way, so that I don't have to watch people run 50 PA passes a game and my defense continue to bite on it, but I also think that it's unrealistic to have it be done the way that it is now.

                          If you could guarantee that the AI would be intelligent enough to not bite on play action when it's 3rd and 11, then I could be convinced that it should be taken out of the game altogether.

                            I think people are confusing pre play with play calling. Pre play to me means after you pick your play but before the ball is snapped. Ian should clear this up.

                            I think it should be an option BEFORE the ball is snapped, ie pre play. The same way you would call a defensive playmaker you should be able to prepare the defense for a run or the pass. For the people that say it's not "sim" to let the user control this...how is it any less sim than using a defensive playmaker where you're changing a play on the fly? By that logic you should not have the control of adjusting individual players either. You're saying the AI should adjust an individual's coverage based on their awareness as well?? Is that what you want?

                            Leave it in but make it pre play.

                              I agree. Jump the Snap was the single worst addition to Madden in history, worse than Superstar mode, worse than Ring Builder, nothing compares to the atrocity that was Jump the Snap.

                                And some people say that it should be based on the player's awareness rating, which is a good point. However, I like the "user interaction" and do it myself because it's then based on the "user awarness" level. If you base it off the ratings, then a newbie can pick a team with good run defense and automatically stop my run game? Ratings can be tied into it and be used as a barometer on how well the commit work, but I don't want some random "Joe" online stopping my run game just because he picked a highly rated team with good defense.
