I personally prefer this system (although I think POTENTIAL should be randomized in most players) because it means the draft classes are balanced and make sense.
There are two types of people on OS: Those who disagree with me, and those who agree.

The first kind is wrong. The second is superfluous.

How are you reading that much into it? We've seen no mention of SPD, AGI, ACC, JMP and other physical stats being limited... which they should, unless you think its ok for a player to get 3-5 points of SPD boosts during progression.

We also see no mention of the same exact progression occuring every time you sim the same franchise season...

We don't want our 29-year-old HB who just rushed for 1800 yds and 25 TDs (aka Priest Holmes in 2003 when he turned 30) to have that kind of season and then drop from a 97 OVR to a 92 OVR just because he turned 30.

Though that's where the potential rating could come in handy if done correctly.
That's pretty much what I'm going for. It would make fantasy drafts even more tedious. Even in past Madden's (going back to past gen) I'd always draft a really young team because I feared players overall dropping due to age.

I hope they implement some sort of "Leadership" rating that can effect the younger players on the team.

Also to add further to my last post...

Do I need to remind the HC fan base of the thousands of players that came into the draft that had the same stats and they had the same height weight ect ect except that they came from different schools?

There is no way they could give us a full draft of 224 players at least for over 15-30 years because thats anywhere from 16,000-20,000+ hand crafted pre-made players...

DO NOT LIKE. This better be addressed correctly. If a player has a great year, he shouldn't degress in overall just because he's getting older. Especially HB's.

Thomas Jones, Jamal Lewis, Brian Westbrook and LaDainian Tomlinson are all going to be 30-31 by the end of our first year in Franchise. So does that mean that even if those guys have a few great years (in the Franchise), they're still subject to having their overalls decrease instead of increase?
The physical skills of those players have declined, and that will probably be reflected in how the ratings decline in Madden. That doesn't mean that they can't still be very effective players in the game. As they still are in real life.

The blog also said that the progression/decline will be based off of each players numbers relative to all other players at that position. So if those older players are still putting up strong numbers then the decline probably won't be as steep, but they will still probably decline slightly, as well they should, IMO.

The Warp Speed comment probably was overstating things a bit, but you can P.M. Josh and ask for clarification just to be on the safe side.

The pitfall with crafted players rather than random is that there need to be enough and they need to be partially randomized so that it isn't repetitive once you see them a few times in franchise. I don't want to know exactly how good each guy can be just because I drafted him before in another franchise.

At least randomize his potential, and maybe have a range that he fits into to start with so that each player still can turn out different. Also, have enough players that I can still go 20 years into franchise without having repeats or anything.

Ians latest Tweet JUST after the post.

ian_cummings There are some unbelievable people on OS. Either we talk about small stuff or nothing, yet 2 guys say they won't buy the game now. LOL

ian_cummings Rest assured franchise has plenty of new stuff...we aren't going to "just tune it" all year.

                    I have another important question.

Will progression still only occur at the end of the season?

I much preferred the PS2 way where there were 3 progression points throughout the season itself... it made it more fun and exciting when you reached that point ot see who was progressing and how... more feedback for the GM is better I feel.

                      +1.

I agree alot with this, but there were also huge pitfalls with the randomly generated classes, at least how it was before.

Doesnt really matter though. I will be importing most of my classes from NCAA.

Is it possible for anybody to just enjoy the little tidbits we get without being pissed/negative about all of them? Sorry not all the questions you have were answered...last time I checked its still APRIL.

One nice addition that we were able to take from Head Coach was how we handle the rookies in the Draft. We now create every rookie by hand, just like you saw in NFL Head Coach ’09. You might even see a few famous rookies make a re-appearance from those drafts.
I don't want this if it's going to shorten the years in Franchise.

I was questioning your choice of words. You said:

                              Progression FIXED.

And I was wondering how you reached such a conclusion. Progression ADDRESSED would have been more appropriate.

I have a feeling that even if the franchise blog said "This years franchise mode will cure all major diseases and give you intense orgasms" that alot of people would still find reasons to cry.
