I don't understand those that say this looks exactly like 09. I been playing 09 again to hold me over till this comes out and 09 is not nearly as highly detailed as this. The players in 09 look like they were cut out of paper and glued onto some fake background. This video looked way better. Much more real looking.

that commentary is atrocious. why am i still hearing "that guy" and "he", JUST SAY THE DAMN NAME. even if its a pre scripted name. ROY WILLIAMS is one of the best receivers in the game. ANDRE JOHNSON is one of the best receivers in the game. PEYTON MANNING is at his best when in the pocket. TOM BRADY is at his best when in the pocket. IS IT THAT ****ING HARD!? we've been hearing "that guy" for 10 years now. but thats not the only thing. overall, the commentary still sounds sparse, force, and in a secluded sound booth. and th epregame show is too short, they don't talk about the league standings, theyre not talking about the eagles, theyre not really talking about anything but "that guy". the coin toss has no sound, but at least we have a coin toss this year.

is there anybody at this football game? maybe not, since jerry's PSLs require the blood of first borns. but come on, cheering and chanting is almost inaudible. all we hear is the same droning we've heard since 06.

why is mcnabb throwing 90MPH bullets to mccullen? why are the players numbers so small? why aren't players planting their feet and slowing down when they're trying to change direction, couldn't you just use the route running tech for all running? what is with all this snickers crap? get a better sponser than some stupid candy bar. get budweiser or ford, something we see in actual NFL commercials. but i guess roger goodell really likes his snickers, so thats all you can put in the game.

but besides that, i can't really bash the game. the cutscenes that are there look good. the blocking has looked great so far. tacking looks great. graphics look great, i love that the field actualy looks GREEN now. tony romo looks just like the real guy.

I thought after the first Madden game play vid I'd be blown away but...meh, its alright, definately improved i have to see how it actually feels and plays

imo the gameplay was ALRIGHT.. I don't know, the majority of it just didn't feel right. Hopefully I can change my mind as I see more,

I also don't see the point. Any graphics that don't need to be there shouldn't be there. And what's with that strange little arrow that shows up pre-snap? Madden 09 had it, too.

*There are some camera stability issues.

Oh yeah. I thought they were purposely going for a handheld camera feel. Definitely needs to be adjusted.

FYI - crowd noise was 100% broken in the build those guys used to capture this video.

It's crazy, this video is about 2 weeks old and it already looks totally out of date to me because of all the recent changes we've been making to gameplay. It still is a good showcase of many of the things you guys should expect to see.

when you say broken, i assume you're referring to how the crowd reacts and not how they sound. imo, it almost sounds like white noise. which is not good. i'd like to hear more independent sounds from the crowd, if possible.

Great Video! First time, long time. Been playing madden since 92' and this is the best it has looked.

1. watch the TE, LT, and LG on the first run play. Pro-Tak in full affect. The LG destroys the MLB and removes him from the play. The TE pushes Ware out of the play. Physics and leverage will be huge this year.
2. McNabb switches hands on the counter play. NICE Detail!
3. WE NOW HAVE A POCKET TO STEP UP INTO!!!! McNabb doesn't step up on the first pass, but it was there, and Romo on the Touchdown stepping up into the pocket brought a tear to my eye.
4. Maclin is running away from Ellis (DE) and James (LB). No more RB's or WR's getting chased down by slower players. Slowing the game down looks to have created more speed. (What ???)
5. Great cutscene in the middle/end of the tackle on Maclin. This will add and organic feel to every play in every game. Another great detail!
6. Watch the TE's on the McNabb sack. They start off the ball slow then pick up momentum as they enter their patterns. Bigger/slower players should act accordingly. DETAIL!
7. McNabb looks immediatley down field after the play fake to MCcoy. DETAIL!
8. Love the fight for the ball. The ref throwing players off (DETAIL), the players pushing each other (DETAIL), the two players still fighting for the ball after the ref signals (DETAIL), the eagles getting pissed after the call (DETAIL).
9. The QB throwing motions. Speechless.

I have a feeling this is only a drop in the bucket for this game. The foundation looks to be layed and they are building a solid game with the details that we all have been hungry for. Keep up the hard work. August 14th will be a revelation for Madden enthusiast in the gaming world.

I smell a PLANT! Hmmm... whether or not you're not an EA employee of some sorts will remain a mystery but for being your first post here...it seems a little...strange

But, I think you're getting too excited over this game. What I saw was basically Madden 09 with some MINOR changes. Still has the same crappy robotic animations and the play by play still stinks.

Still too early to tell of course but this will be the very first year since Madden 90 that I will rent first. After watching several vids from Madden 10 I am, so far, disappointed. But I was expecting to be anyways so nothing new there.

Balloon a little deflated right now. Not getting the Fifa09/2k5 feeling. Hoping that Ian was correct about this build being nothing like where they stand now. But will reserve much more critical judgement till post E3....

I'm pleased with what I saw. That 'fresh coat of paint' for every year's Madden game is a welcome sight....HOWEVER...

Ian - Tom Hammond is dragging down your game, dude.

While the rest of Madden has leaped into present with the gusto of JJ Abrams' Star Trek - Tom Hammond is like a layer of dust on top of the whole thing. He sounds like an old man. Hammond may be 8 years younger than Madden - but when it comes to energy and delivery - the guy CANNOT compare.

Here's some adjectives that came to mind when I brainstormed descriptions of Tom Hammond in Madden:
Corny.
Wack.
Tired.
Boring.
Phony.
Stitched.
Old.
Musty.
Generation Gap.

Please tell me he's not under a multi-year contract, because simply getting us commentators with some LIFE will take Madden leaps and bounds further than you guys already have.

New Rule - if the dude's over 50 and he's not John Madden - DO NOT WANT.

as a professional engineer, and a good one at that, the sound design as it stands is still absolutely abysmal...


presentation looks a lot better though..there's a lot of good in there..


but i can't get over how bad the sound is..in every aspect, from the crowd, to the commentary...


edit: i agree with 7thward...why can't we at least have madden if it's gonna be that generic sounding!??!! i mean it's his game and he just retired..honor the man! please?

i'm still not digging the way this game moves either. it still looks like a videogame. all pro wasn't perfect, but it moved great
