Re: You have to get salary cap in Online Franchise
I don't think you'll have to worry about free agency considering everyone can resign their own players for $50 million a year. Any player thats remotely decent will never be available.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 10 Online Franchise Discussion
It'll only last a year, chicken little.
Yes... I didn't need too, they know... yes, no... their answer was harsh truth, but not something I'm comfortable repeating publicly.
It's a bit arrogant of us to think we know what's important but they don't. I promise you, they're not happy shipping like this.Last edited by TDKing; 06-03-2009, 07:58 PM.Comment

Re: Online Franchise Confirmed w/ Web App
Anyone know the question to this:
I am curious to know if it is possible to setup a league, have players join and then once the league is full, that the system automates the draft position, and then the players based on this pick their teams.
I am tired of the league commish getting the best team, and all his friends getting the next best teams and then everyone else getting the scraps.
Everyone should be able to join the league without having to pick a team up front, that should be randomly done through a lottery in game, everyone gets the chance to get a good team.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 10 Online Franchise Discussion
It's EAs fault... It's not the dev team's fault. There are two types of people on OS: Those who disagree with me, and those who agree.
The first kind is wrong. The second is superfluous.

Re: Madden NFL 10 Online Franchise Discussion
No trade logic and no salary cap is garbage. I'm glad they at least put Online Franchise in the game, but then leaving out 2 of the most important features in any "SIM" football simulation is pathetic. I don't care about "harsh truth" answers people don't care to repeat or blaming it on people who don't work there anymore (which happens to be a common "pass the buck" response prevalent in all sectors of work) all this community interaction and now all of a sudden we can't handle the truth. Funny how you can always find someone when they are getting praised then when "harsh but fair " criticisms and questions come along, all of a sudden people are busy.
I want to make it clear I actually enjoy all the changes I've seen in Madden this year. I'm not about to say it's the best ever and Ian and Crew are the greatest or anything of that nature, but it does look like they progressed the game. This CPU logic and salary cap is real weak though. REAL WEAK
I don't expect a personal answer from a developer withing an hour after psoting either, but somebody knows the deal and ain't talking.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 10 Online Franchise Discussion
I just don't understand how free agency would work between two player controlled teams interested in the same player if there is no salary cap?
Has anyone even come up with a hypothesis on how this would work?Comment

Re: Madden NFL 10 Online Franchise Discussion
I don't mind the length at all. I bet most don't even make it through 3 years without crashing due to player commitment issues.
Also, logistically it seems necessary, as Looman said he hand-crafted all the drafts and checked them for accurate progression. That's a lot of players to control, and it's absolutely essential to having a working and believable franchise mode. Ten years probably represented the limit of controlled and accurate draft design the team could do. If that's the case, smart move.
I was wondering that too. Big concern. Plus no salary cap right now in online franchise... yikes!Comment

Re: Madden NFL 10 Online Franchise Discussion
the computer controlled teams in online franchise have no trade logic programmed in. they will give up tom brady for kerry collins straight up if the commish doesnt block it.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 10 Online Franchise Discussion
I think the no trade logic basically means that the CPU would trade you Brian Westbrook and Donovan McNabb for Rex Grossman. Basically they would accept every trade offered is the way I am understanding it.
1st and foremost--In the NFL there are HARDLY ANY TRADES. It's not like baseball, where they are trading players all the time, the NFL just doesn't really trade players. Plus, no matter what the logic is, you have other people in the Franchise who can vote the trade down. Just like fantasy football, so I don't have a huge problem with this because we can work around it pretty easily.
As far as the Free Agent thing goes, unless they patch this issue, we may just have to play with "house rules" and the commissioner would have a little bit more of a "job" to do. First off, if they are good FA's and there is no cap, then the original team would just sign them anyway, so there might not be any good FA's if there is not a house rule about having to let them go to FA. Other house rules involving who could sign a player or for how much they could sign them could easily be worked out beforehand. League wide voting would be an extra step, but it wouldn't be difficult.
Yes, I wish there was trade logic and Salary Cap in Online Franchise, but we are all smart enough to devise a way to make it fair if the game doesn't do it for us. We've all done it before. Even if those things were in the game, we'll still have to have rules outside of the game for our Online Franchises.PSN: Koolie_G
