No I'm going to go off what they show. I'm not blindly spending money on a company that shows time and time again that they will have their people hype up their stuff, only to disappoint and then get mad at people telling them that they disappointed.

Re: Madden NFL 10 Video: Halftime Report (Chase @ E3)
You mentioned Madden and NBA Live in past tense.
My point, is, shouldn't we(not necessarily you) wait until this Madden is out before we play judge and jury right now. Just because someone got upset over the internet that will stand in the way of someone renting or buying a game?
What if presentation and game play are all good except for the half-time and extra-point show. Is that a deal breaker and no rental?Comment

Re: Madden NFL 10 Video: Halftime Report (Chase @ E3)
I have no problem with people ripping the halftime show if they desire, cause even in my opinion, that was underwhelming since I was expecting commentary on the highlights. Other than that though, it was pretty much exactly what I expected. But really, the issue is the fact that there is complete silence during the highlights (very awkward), which I HAVE to believe will not be the case when this game is released. Even last year they had music playing during those top 5 highlights thing. MLB 09 The Show does the exact same thing as this does, except they got music playing to it. NBA 2K9 does this as well, except they got music to it. The only game I've seen do this with actual commentary is NFL 2K5, and it was incredibly redundant. Now, to me, that tells me that there has to be some reason why only one game has done this, and that is it's gotta be VERY difficult to implement. That's just my opinion on the matter.
Basically, put some good music to the highlights EA, (ala The Show) and you have a great start. Figure out the commentary thing and you'll have brilliance. The pre/halftime/post game, etc. shows doesn't take away the fact that this game is gonna be incredibly good in every other way.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 10 Video: Halftime Report (Chase @ E3)
I agree with g2thecore. Very happy they have the highlights, but there is no excitement. When you watch real half time shows the announcers are really amped, the music is playing, etc. In all honesty if feels kind of hollow, no passion.
But, they would need to sign a real analyst to give an authentic feel. Maybe they weren't able to do that. I was expecting a little more substance. Oh well. Maybe next year.
And one more thing. When the girl says, "Back to Your Game." It really takes you out of the immersion factor. It sounds like a video game. She should say, "Back to guys in the booth, Tom and Chris!" Something like that at least.Comment

^^ The script is awful. The person who wrote it was thinking in the video game realm, like they were talking to the gamer, rather then true TV style presentation.Comment

This seems to be an ongoing problem. They don't get this, while 2K does. I am not bashing at all because I have basically built the EA Empire from the Sega Genesis days. It's just the truth.Comment

MLB 09 The Show has the best IN-GAME commentary I've ever seen in a sports game other than FIFA. Matt Vasgersian is probably one of the best at it in a video game.
As far as halftime and postgame shows...2k5 still reigns champion but hopefully by Madden 11 or 12 it will beat it.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 10 Video: Halftime Report (Chase @ E3)
What will really soothe this over is an extra person at the sports desk. There needs to be analyst at the desk that Hammond can go to to give a recap of the game so far. I would recommend getting former pro players who are now analysts to give there impressions of the game so far at Halftime when the highlights are playing. It could go something like this:
Analyst 1 (Rod Woodson for example): Matt Hasselbeck has any throw he wants against this football team. He is taking advantage of every opportunity that the D is giving him. The Broncos need to draw something up to stop this passing game. Maybe come with a little more pressure and force the receivers to beat your CB's and make this QB force his throws a little bit.
Analyst 2 (Marshall Faulk for example): Yea Rod, but also the turnovers by Kyle Orton are killing his football team! This QB has got to stop throwing interceptions and putting his team in bad spots. He needs to really focus on getting his team back in the game without all the costly turnovers.
This is just an idea. The audio is really killing the game so far."Maybe I can't win. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that."Comment

I haven't played the show but UFC's commentary is the best I've ever heard.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.

Re: Madden NFL 10 Video: Halftime Report (Chase @ E3)
There are number of today's NFL commentators that I believe would do an amazing job for Madden 11. The issue isn't who we have at Color Commentary, we need a new Play-by-Play guy.
I recommend one of these guys:
1. Al Michaels (bring him back if possible)
2. Joe Buck (I love this guy even though alot don't)
3. Kenny Albert (one of my favorites..has an amazing voice for NFL)
4. Daryl Johnston (another great one)
5. Kevin Harlan
I would put Mike Tirico in there but he's color commentary and doesn't call the plays.Comment
