I agree there are exceptions to everything... of course i'm sure there are some great DBs at juking and spinning and ball carrier vision.. (like hester was, deion, reed)... but even those guys I would say shouldn't be higher than a 70 something at those moves with the stretched out ratings.. (except hester maybe.......) but anyways I dont think we should clog this thread up with DBs ratings talk and whatever...

The main point I was making orginally is that I wish there was a better way to avoid all the pick 6s in Madden games... I figured maybe tuning some of the DBs carrying skills would help... but that still probably wouldn't be much of a solution to the problem.. so I guess we will have to figure something else out... I will let the ratings guys deal with the ratings...

Anyone notice that there was one time where the kicker (after an extra point) came off the field and slapped hands with nobody? I don't care really, it doesn't bother me just thought it was humorous ..

Other than the greatness that are the videos, my only gripe (have only watched the first one so far) is that Ian skips through a lot of replays and other things that pop up .. like when Johnson was hurt I didn't even get to really read the side (had to pause it) where it explained the medium chance of getting hurt again ..

Is there a reason he is doing this?

Obviously not a game complaint, because really so far I am really impressed ..

As far as the pick six, look at where they get the picks. Its where alot of us throw the ball, outs, post(vs 1on1),hooks, and corners. After the dbs gets the picks not alot of players there to stop him.

Looking at the ratings in 10, the fastest db is a 93. The wrs, and hbs are faster now, so that should help. We can hope!

Ian thanks for the vid's. I thought I'd chime in on some of the things that might hold this game back from being the best football game ever. (And my copy is paid in full and waiting for me at midnight on Aug. 14th) I've clearly seen the upgrade from 09 to 10 so there's too many good things for me to state here.

So im just gonna give a few negatives that I've seen. Im gonna break them down by position. My main concerns are from the defensive side of the ball at a few positions.

DT/Nose Tackle- These guys are simply not doing anything. They are getting no pressure up the middle. Leaving huge step up lanes for the qb in the pocket. IMO they are being man handled by the O-linemen. There AI needs to understand that on a 3rd and 1, they need to jam the middle.

DE- (3-4) They seem to be getting engulfed into the block instead of taking on the block but keeping there outside shoulder/hand free and trying to contain. Ngata should have been nearly impossible to block with only 1 person.

De (4-3)- They are not getting up field enough (or fast enough) on pass situations. They should not be trying to get engaged to the blocker but rather trying to get by them. They also need to work harder on containment on run play situations. More moves need to me used to get off the blocks, (rip,swim,ect...) Jevon Kearse should have cause more havoc for the Ravens rookie RT.

OLB- need to stop worrying about attacking the middle. Leave that for the Mlb. They need to concentrate more on the outside. On pass situations and they are blitzing off the edge same thing that goes for the DE's , they need to get upfield faster, and try not getting blocked instead of going right into engagement. Terrell Suggs was he even on the field? Keith Bulluck anyone? These guys need to dominate like we see on sundays.

MLB- He needs to attack more sideline to sideline. (Did Rey Lewis make a tackle in that video?) The Mlb is getting stuck to much in the middle getting engaged. He needs to attack to the ball carrier while trying to shed the blocks in the process. (There is no reason on a toss play that Rey Lewis should be caught up in the middle.)

CB- Not much to complain about here, other than in short zones should come up and atleast try and help out more in the run game.

S- Where do I start! The angles are simply horrible. Ed Reed is one of the better safety's in the NFL and the game did him no justice (other than the 1 pick he got) But god I hope Bob Sanders / Troy Polumala take better angles seeing there more run stoppers than Reed. On the toss plays why does the Safety react to the middle? They should be hauling @ss to the outside taking the proper angles to atleast attempt a tackle.

In the end I think that the Star players esspecially on the Defensive side of the ball need to be taken more account of in the game. We should have to worry about running the ball Ngata's way. ANd worry about the pressure coming from Suggs ...ect..... It seemed to me that getting 100 yds vs the Ravens was a little bit on the easy side. And CJ was breaking out of a few to many tackles. He's got speed but once some has him wrapped I dont think his chances of escape should be in his favor like a Brandon Jacobs.

Would love to see a more defensive battle from two teams like that. But hopefully with a little tweaking things can become better on the D side of the ball. Or atleast allow the sliders maxed out for pass rush actually mean something.

It's not a big deal but when Figures scored his touchdown it showed him celebrating with Mason. When the cut scene ends you see that Mason is nowhere near Figures. Again not a big deal but it would be cool if the cut scenes weren't triggered if the scene wasn't possible.

When I compare today's Madden videos with the NCAA videos I think Madden looks a lot stronger. Emphasis on a lot.

The game speed on Madden seems slow but I'm sure a lot of it is because NCAA is faster.

Dang, I've bought Madden once in the past 5-6 years...mainly because at the time NCAA was kicking it's butt.

But you, my friend have just earned a purchase from me. I only wish your NCAA cohorts showed the same dedication to making that game. I might have to skip out on that one this year...especially after last years debacle. Which sucks because my school, OU, is in the midst of a great run right now.

As far as patting guys on the back for doing their job. I sure hope you start with the armed forces, teachers, firefighters, police officers and doctors/nurses before you got down to video game developers.

Please, some of you people just need to leave teh forums...you talk about the economy and tough times..and your talking about buying a videogame..

What do nurses, firefighters etc.. have to do with a video-game forum, if your so worried about them go to another type of forum. This is forum is about madden, a video game, and the game developer interacts with us and shows us things. Thats pretty damn cool

Not sure if it's been brought up but it should probably be looked at that with three down linemen, and i believe kelly gregg is the nose tackle in these vids, that he's being handled by one guy like everytime. When you go with three down lineman, his job is to occupy two offensive lineman so the backers get free runs. Maybe you guys just underrated Kelly gregg but do guys like Haynesworth and Casey Hampton get double teamed, or does one guy try to take them on?

Love what you're doing and i dont really use the 3-4 but i think this might be why. It seems like the centre can take on the Nose tackle and the gaurds have free runs to the linebackers. Makes it easy to run up the middle unless you pinch your line. It's probably some complicated stuff to program that in, but if you don't disagree with what im saying then it'd be real awesome if you could put that on the list for Madden 11.

Ian, I personally wanted to say that the game looks GREAT! I was a Best Buy today and was looking at a Mac and they had the Mac connected online. I went to this thread and started playing these videos and people couldn't believe that was Madden. For the average fan you are going to blow there socks off! For the hardcore fan that you find in these forums there will always be room for improvement.

Nothing will ever be perfect but you and your team are doing a damn good job trying to be perfect!!

I also saw your effort and the Anim8tors efforts in making the Running Animations look more realistic and APFish!

A few things I saw that I would like for you to consider fixing before you go gold...

These 2 teams are defensively dominate and offensively challenged and the scores do not portray that. Fix the D-Line pressure and it will fix all of the issues on Defense IMO.

It all starts with the O-Line & D-Line.

The running animation looks much better but I would have to agree that when Chris Johnson gets in to the open field there should be less movement. Finding the holes and feeling his way through them make those running animations good for now. In the open field they should be a little less pronounced though.

Once again I want to say you guys are doing a fantastic JOB! Keep up the great work you have done so far!!

eh, not impressed with the return of all the Pick-6 action. every INT gets returned for a TD again. it really needs to be toned down. the game does look good this year but that along with the robotic commentary & robotic run animations cause just a bit of a damper on the game. but i love the direction the presentation is going, it really adds to the game.
