EA and Tiburon wont "remake" the game or start over because that is too much money to spend for a game which market they already dominate if you really want them to overhaul the physics engine or make major changes then you will have to effect EA and Tiburon where it hurts most and that is the bottom line. If u dont like what u see then dont buy the game. telling EA to make graphic tweaks. animation changes and ratings changes makes sense because that doesnt require an "overhaul" but asking EA to scrap what they have and start over isnt practical.

First off, let me say that for the most part. This has been one of the best threads here. We are arguing but without getting disrespectful, and everybody is able to share a point without words like "*****" or "fanboy" being thrown around.

Jobe111. I stayed current on the blogs, but you have to understand blogs and actions are two different things. Im already seeing the cross contamination (if you will) of Madden 09 into Madden 10. A prime example is the the Titans running play from the M10 video. The WR in 09 and 10 act the same.

My point is and always will be. If any fundamental part of Madden is broken then everything else might as well be. When you cant run a simple inside run without mass chaos, I just dont know what to tell ya. Ive said a total overhaul is highly unrealistic, they have a base they just need to get it fixed.

I have had a hard stance of not evaluating a game or criticizing it until I play it.


I came to this board looking for improvements with 10, what I saw was nothing about game play issues I had. Rather cleat colors, waving towels, presentation, etc. I could no longer sit idle and expect somebody else to bring the issues I had up for me. People that watch my videos will have the game play issues fresh in their minds when they play 10, and hopefully look for some of them.

Any time I would have chose to start making them would have been the wrong time. If the issues aren't fixed, we are just starting another viscous cycle.

And I understand the concern over the videos but fundamentally this game is going in the right direction. And we shouldn't really get on the Devs that come here because I can almost garauntee that they have almost no say in which game engine is put into use. Its more of EA as a whole

If you didnt see all the posts about jersey/ cleat / towels...not sure what to tell you. The point I made (which you even put in bold) was that I saw alot of other issues being brought up before gameplay, the main issue I have.

If you want I suppose I could shower you with links to topics about all those, but Im trying to play nice. Im hoping you can go look and see those topics are still hanging around for yourself.

I'm happy to see someone else out there sees this issue the way I do. (Post #52 in this thread) Ian is doing a hell of a job with Madden 10, but there's only so much the man can do. He's the lead designer of M10 not the owner of EA.

what madden has seemed to do for all these years is put a new coat of paint on a car that needs the engine replaced. and seeing presentation improved and graphics improved is great but the biggest problem is the core game play and this can be seen by watching the videos by Apex and Rmoody and others so when madden says they fixed something people are naturally skeptical.

By enhancing presentation and graphics this impresses and pleases many but the hard core gamers who watch football religiously and then play madden it just doesn't have the NFL authentic physics, collisions and animations

Hey Road, what guys like Apex and RMoody are not just saying, but SHOWING with visual evidence that is totally undeniable, is that the game, at its core, the most basic elements are simply broken. It doesn't matter how many features they add on top of that core, or how much they try and tune that core, if the core is rotten its time to change it.

EA Tiburon does a GREAT job at making Madden players focus on the 2 digits after "Madden NFL". 10, 09, 08, 07 and so on are all built on the same code. Each year they tweak and tune, and add features, but the game at its core hasn't changed.

I don't know how anyone can sit there and honestly say after watching actual Madden 10 GAMEPLAY footage that Ian himself posted against Donny, that that game looks substantially different than Madden 09. It just doesnt. Will 10 be "better"? I would hope so, but the point is its basically the same game year in and year out.

After watching these videos im of the mind we will not see a better playing game until Tiburon starts over. Now don'y jump to conclusions here people. Everyone ASSUMES that building an entirely new game is a negative. Just not so. If the new game they build is more advanced in physics, AI, animations, basically just an overall better game/engine/engines...whatever, it will be alot better than throwing coats of paint on an old, dated clunker.

Im not here "hating", im telling you that you just will not find a bigger fan of this franchise than me. I just have to be honest and call it like it is. Watch not only this run blocking video, but the "Situational awareness" video RMoody put up, its disgusting comparing the two games. Again, i always played Madden over 2K, Gameday, Joe Montana, Mike Ditka, Blitz, sports talk football, you name it....i was always playing Madden. Its just time to breathe new life into this game and franchise.

I'm not blind in either eye. I've noticed what Rmoody has been saying since I saw all the evidence I want to in playing 09. I think most people who have played 09 agree with Rmoody and Apex. Plus, I gave Rmoody some props at the end that maybe you overglossed.

The only difference between Red, Rmoody and maybe some others is that I'm waiting for 10 to get into my hands before I pass judgment on it, while some others are already announcing the game is broken and won't be any good.

I hope I'm right and saying that 10 is much better and improved than 09. To me, 09 wasn't better than 08 at all.

Matt I dont have a personal problem with you. It would be foolish and immature for me to feel that way.

I just find it crazy how often and how hard you go into defending Madden, but I apologize if I made you upset.

I feel at this point in time Madden deserves all the negative comments and videos it has been receiving. Until Madden can prove other wise it will continue. Well the demo is releasing soon, and things can either get very sweet in these forums for Madden or extremly ugly.

trust me I want it to be sweet in here for them.

Let me be honest. I'd probably be in the same position as you with Madden if Madden 09 didn't improve over Madden 08. Madden 06-Madden 08 made me shake my head in shame, and I thought that the franchise was really heading in the wrong direction. Madden 09 had many flaws and was sometimes hard to play an entire game because of how boring it got and it didn't exactly feel like a true NFL experience, but it was definitely a step in the right direction. You already know that most of my advice is to wait until we play Madden 10 first or at least the demo before we start talking about EA Sports giving up the license or saying how fed up we are with Madden being the same game every year. It only makes sense to wait until you play something before you pass final judgement on it. Most of the complaints now won't do any good because the game is about to go gold very soon, so it makes no sense to start complaining now. Some people will even play the demo in about 8 days anyways. I understand why people are upset and I commend Apex and RMoody for pointing things out that needs to be addressed. I personally would love for RMoody to be able to do a situational awareness video with Madden 10 like he did with APF 2k8, but we can only wait and see.

I will laugh if you fall in love with Madden 10 (not saying that you will), so don't post your impressions if you're giving Madden 10 a good grade this year, lol.

many many posts of the madden 10 demo impressions will be mostly positive due to the fact that the game will look and play better. and people haven't played madden probably since December (if one could stand 09 for that long).

later on people will start finding problems with it and posting vids and making wish list threads in no time

Wow man, I gotta say that was some funny stuff. Great personality in the videos man!

On the real front, man lets all hope. I know most here agree, Madden has been a muck here for a minute and yes it's been a majore disappointment, especially seeing the focus it gets year in and year out. I am cautiously optimistic that SOME things will be on par but time will tell.

Those videos were spot on with stuff that has been going on for a while. It is BETA, they do have to fix it and if they don't then god help us...

People can always "ask" for lil things, like colored cleats....cause it's easy to ask for...."You know those cleats....hey, why dont ya color them" That was simple to request, and the devs knew what and how to do it....it's easy right ? ! ?

Now you are saying......."Fix all this blocking".....Well you saying that, is not a real helping point. I am sure the dev's know those kinda animation happen in the game, and I am sure they are not just ignoring it, hoping we wont see it. I mean really, you seriously think they dont know this ...They make the game !

So lets take for granted they know about the blocking and they are working on it. So really unless you can say, hey in that one line of code ..why dont ya put a "bingadebop"..... that will fix it.....then...... What's the point of all this , Video making and hoop-de-doing ?

But if they did fix everything just how you want it, ya know when your making all your comments in your vids....on how it should play out......well if it was like you say, just about every play would be a TD ! Now wouldnt that be fun ?

See, I kinda think these errors in gameplay, might help to add human errors and realism to the game, but thats my opinion I guess....and you know it may look stupid when all zoomed in, slow-mo'd, just searching for the truth type video clips....
but that's not how I play this video game..............

What i found to be even funnier than the video were the people who posted in this thread making comments like "well u should have put this in the wishlist last year". For real? Are u people serious? LOL After paying $300 or so for our systems, $60 for the game, we now have to ASK for consistent basic gameplay logic? We have to put in a wishlist "hope LG tries to actually block DT instead of bypassing him AND an LB to try to chase a safety and block him" LOL Thats like going to McDonalds or something and they put all your food and everything right in your hand, then tell you "Oh, you wanted containers and a bag for that? Well, you should have asked for it" For the record, there WERE people complaining and pointing these things out last year, the year before, and the year before that. This thread, along with the 20 others like this are just manifestation of frustration of having their requests ignored in favor of hand-towels and colored-cleats.

The play in the APF 2K8 video didnt result in a TD now did it? Defense and awareness can be expressed without "dumbing-down" the offense. LB's can shed blocks, D-linemen can actually beat the O-linemen with an actual move to disrupt a play. Yes this is a video game, but funny thing is, the things i just stated have ALREADY been done..in a video game. Just not this one (Madden)
