You don't have to pre-order to get your hands on a demo. You have the option to wait until 7/30 I believe :P

I actually read somewhere that you could potentially pre-order Madden 10 online and then get the code then perhaps say "nah, I don't want it" and return it but keep the working demo. Not sure how legit this is but potentially a loophole.

It's not a loophole. Gamestop has no problem with you cancelling a pre-order at anytime for any reason. Nothing shady happening here.

I frequently pre-order with Gamestop to get into betas and end up cancelling because the game either wasn't as good as I thought, or just because I found another smaller store that was selling the game a week before street date, which Gamestop can't do.

That will most likely happen again as I have pre-ordered Madden at gamestop and will most likely get it before street date from someone else.

You do have to pre-oder to get the Gamestop exclusive demo which features 5min quarters and the Steelers and Cardinals. The other demo that you can download from PSN or Live features the Giants (da Geeeeeeeee-Men lol) and the Cowboys in 2min quarters.

I pre-ordered at gamestop, but I will also download the Giants' demo as well. That's right I said Giants' demo lol! Want to get as good an idea about the game as possible before I plunk down 60.

This was passed on from the Senior Producer of Madden. It is 1 Min quarters not 2.

A couple of updates for this thread.

1) I'm asking around internally to get an update on the code situation. I should be able to find out tomorrow when the codes are supposed to go out. Whenever GS decides to actually execute is a different story...

2) The demo on 7/30 (the non-GS version) is actually 1 minute quarters. Not exactly sure where the 2 minute thing came from but wanted to clarify either way.

Just called the GS where i reserved madden 10. I asked if they got the codes yet, but the clerk I talked to had no idea what i was talking about. pretty strange.

Very few companies even sell direct anymore, its too much of a hassle. This applies to everything, not just video games.

I just called my local GS, worried that I might not get a code and planning to get there tomorrow morning, but the guys said hes pretty sure its an e-mail and I shouldn't worry about it.

All the Gamestops in my area have said that they aren't getting the codes until the 23rd.
