    Help. I suck.

I've played a couple games now and I've restarted every one. I get so frustrated because 1) I cannot move the ball and 2) I cannot stop the other team... EVER. One game I had -3 yards at half time. I have YET to get a first down or complete a pass. Yes, I said yet to complete a pass. I know that its just because I have not played this game much in the past few years. I'm not complaining about the game engine because I'm enjoying the game. I just need some tips from you guys that are good at this game. I am playing on All-Pro and will play on this level for good. I always play sports games on the second highest level because it seems that the highest levels always include some kind of stupid speed cheat to make the CPU better.

I am wanting to know if you guys have any tips that might help me move the ball. I know I will get better so I'm trying not to get too frustrated. I think I am really going to enjoy this game once I get half way decent at it. I coached high school football for two years and I'm a huge NFL fan so I know football, I'm just having trouble getting positive results right now.

What kind of defenses do you guys usually run? Man or zone? How do you have success running the ball? Every time I run the ball I run right into a defender. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

Try using My Skill and having it adjust for you. It starts at All-Pro level but will adjust. I was getting killed on Pro and then went to My Skill and IMO it works well but you have to give it time to adjust. Play some Play Now games with it and see how it goes.

how about going to practice mode and play on Pro

select RANDOM plays for the offense and the defense

random plays will be picked every time and you can practice like that. if you find a play that you think you like, make it an audible so when you're playing and it's a big 3rd down or something you have that play you can switch to at any time.

I've played Madden year in and year out and would rate myself a pretty solid player and I just got smoked 34-6 by the Falcons (I was Carolina) so don't feel bad.

Don't give into the frustration, take this as a learning experience - reduce keep the player skill level @ pro and the speed @ slow. When you make a mistake, go back and watch the replay, ask yourself what you would do differently next time. When calling plays, use the Ask Madden feature and then look at the personnel the opponent has and pick the play that matches that personnel set the best.

Hang in there, it will come to you.

Do the virtual training. That and practice modes are your best friends. And I'm not a great player either. I did the Madden Skill thing and ended up somewhere between Pro and All-Pro, mainly because my pass defense sucks. And yes, calling plays is not my strong suit. Ask Madden helps with that.

this is the first year I've been able to compete on all-madden difficulty and it's the most fun i've ever had with the Madden series.
the past five years that Madden has come out I would be confident I could compete on all-madden, but then the A.I. would destroy me every year. this year I had to make a change somewhere.

                this is what I did:

go into practice mode and find around 10 plays you're comfortable with (5 passing and 5 running). use these plays for your first couple of games in your franchise until you feel you can learn 8-10 new ones. trust me, just selecting a random play every down is going to cause major problems, even if it looks simple enough. if you go in with a game plan and have names of plays written down you will be tearing down the field.

i also turned clock acceleration off because it gives me more than enough time to motion guys and scan the D. maybe hot route a WR or TE. even though it may be a little unrealistic to motion guys every down, it will allow you to easily figure out if it's zone D or not.

i just threw 3 TDs, no interceptions, 265 yds with Pennington and it was so satisfying. if you follow what I said above you'll be playing on all-madden in no time.

I haven't played a football game since 2k but I decided to get Madden this year...I'm also playing on all-pro. So far I'm 9-1 and, with the exception of that one game, have pretty much been dominant. I'm about to boost difficulty actually.

What I did was went into the practice mode and mini-games for pass and run for about an hour or so before i played one game. Try that and I'm sure you'll be doing fine in no time.

yeah, for my whole Madden career it seemed as if All-Pro was way too easy and All-Madden was just a TAD too hard/unrealistic. if you go in with a good arsenal of plays All-Madden isn't as scary.

                      Re: Help. I suck.

I used to play Madden religiously for years, but became frustrated with the next gen games and moved onto 2K5 with updated rosters. I've played 2 games now and sit with an impressive 0-2 record; I lost to the Chiefs and Browns with my Niners. LOL. I've thrown 7 INTs so far and have had serious issues getting Gore going. Shaun Rogers blew up 4 or 5 running plays with ease. I'm trying not to get too frustrated either. I've always been pretty solid at football games (I've been winning roughly 75% of the time with 2K5/APF 2K8 the past couple of years and was 5-2 in NCAA 10 before I traded it in for $40 towards Madden), but this game is tough. Both games were played on All Pro. It really is about mixing up the play calling, reading the D and maximizing mismatches. I give EA kudos for really nailing the ratings and team playing styles. Cassell tore apart my D when I played a soft zone and struggled when I brought blitzes and got pressure on him. The Browns pounded Lewis up the middle and dinked and dunked with Quinn. Against the Browns Hill got knocked out for 2 or 3 plays and Smith moved and felt very different when he came in. In think that after getting a feel for the game and making some slider tweaks this will be a very, very fun game (although frustrating at times due to the Niners' current talent). I truly think that I'm going to struggle to win 10 games (let alone 8) a season with my Niners which is very realistic.

i really don't see how someone can win on All-Madden without using an unrealistic amount of hot routes and WR motions. i'd love for someone to upload a youtube video of them beating the CPU on all-madden using Ask Madden plays and without hot routes and motioning.

To the OP: The best thing that you can do is go into practice mode and get a better feel for the game. This really helps.

WOW Thank God I'm not the only one who is struggling with this game. LOL I hear people here saying they can compete with the CPU on All Madden and it makes me feel like such a scrub! LOL

But I'm getting better. On offense, learn to be a little more patient and wait for the play to develop. I know that I panic too much when I feel my line collapsing. I try to throw into double coverage or make a home run pass that is impossible. Same thing with rushing the ball. Don't hit turbo as soon as you get the ball. Watch your line and seek the hole and then attack.

On defense, it's a little more difficult. I'm just not sure who to control. I've been switching from a DE to the MLB to a S. Not sure I'm good at any of them. LOL With the DE, I'm not getting much pressure. With the MLB, I continuously miss tackles and the TE or RB. And I've gotten burned for TD's repeatedly using a S.

Yet to complete a pass? Are u serious? I find that hard to believe because this year the flats are wide open for the RB pretty much all game.
