I don't recall any of them doing so.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: First details on AFL Legacy Pack DLC ($6.99)
New maps add new strategy to a shooter, where strategies change due to new spawn points, new objectives, and new obstacles to get over or avoid on your way to get the other team.
New characters in a fighting game give you new moves to learn and either complete or defend against.
Adding uniforms to a football game is window dressing, and doesn't change how you play the game. Everything else I mentioned does.
Of course, I figured someone would say "but what about the Madden Moments". My response for the Madden Moments is that you get 5 for this pack, which, unless you love playing Madden Moments, you'll get about 20 minutes out of.Rose City 'Til I Die

Re: Madden NFL 10: AFL Legacy Pack DLC Details
Who says they aren't? The first patch is in the certification process with MS/Sony. The AFL Legacy pack doesn't release until the 24th. My money says that the first patch will drop before the AFL Legacy Pack does.

Patch #1 will fix some things, but not everything.
I'm sure Patch #2 will fix some game play issues.Comment

Re: First details on AFL Legacy Pack DLC ($6.99)
Actually, it is. Rock Band adds on gameplay with new songs. Remember, they ship with a large amount of songs on disc, and release 3-12 songs a week. That's one way Rock Band keeps people playing the game because it doesn't get stale... new gameplay.

In last year's case, for example, had they come out with the Accelerated Clock DLC, I could see how that would fall in line with your "gameplay" changing experience for this game, because it changes how the overall game is played.Comment

Re: First details on AFL Legacy Pack DLC ($6.99)
Replayability. If I d/l extra songs for RockBand or an expansion pack for, say, Midnight Club LA, then that will be a one time purchase. Sports games are different, they are released yearly. If I d/l a song in RockBand, it will work in all iterations of RockBand. Will I be asked to purchase franchise enhancers, elite status, uniforms, and other DLC for Madden 11? Probably. That's fine, we live in a capitalist economy, which gives me the option of buying it or not, which I won't. I also think now more than ever it's important to be an educated consumer. When other sports games offer this content for free, and now I'm being charged, I should ask why.Comment

Re: First details on AFL Legacy Pack DLC ($6.99)
I suppose then, if that is your reasoning, what could they add in a DLC pack that would make it worth the 7 dollars? New stadiums, uniforms, even old teams...none of that really changes the gameplay.

For all of those who are pissed that the AFL Legacy Pack cost money, let me ask you this. What is the difference between paying for this and extra map packs for games, customizable parts for driving games, extra songs for Rock Band/Guitar Hero, extra costume packs, extra characters in games, extra this and that with any game?
And please don't use the cop out line that, "well its should've been in the game already" or "I already paid X amount of dollars for this game", because those two lines could be used for any and all games that offer DLC.
So go ahead, please enlighten me and the rest of the community with why what EA/Madden is doing is any different than what any other company that offers DLC is doing.
As for the question you asked, I don't know. I'm not a marketing person or project manager that's paid to dream up these great gameplay additions.Last edited by The GIGGAS; 09-08-2009, 06:49 PM.Rose City 'Til I Die

Maps can be viewed as just cosmetic as well as they don't truly effect the actual gameplay.
Again, football, by it's nature, offers new gameplay each time you press reset.Comment

Then I would argue that new tracks in Rock Band does not add new gameplay. It's just a new song that requires button mashing in a different sequence.

Re: First details on AFL Legacy Pack DLC ($6.99)
I wasn't suggesting what they should add or what they shouldn't. All I answered was this question:
I'm not totally against this pack... in fact, if they did something for the Jaguars, I'd buy it without a doubt. But since my team doesn't have anything to do with the AFL, I'm not going to.
I am with you though...I will buy it because it affects my team. Otherwise I would probably think about it, but wouldn't be outraged because it costs money.
Another thought though(and this is not directed at you, Giggas)...It almost seems like it's a two headed monster with a lot of posters...When something is wrong, they call for it to be fixed. If it's fixed but it puts them out in any way (restart franchise, DLC $$$, etc.), then it's an outrage. If it's not fixed, it's an outrage, because EA just wants more of our money next year.
I'm just happy they appear to be working on things. Regardless of how this works out in the coming months, we are seeing things around here with developer interaction that can do nothing but make this series(and the rest of the series') better from here on out.
For me, I buy 4 games a year...Baseball, Football x2, and Hockey. That money is already spent every year, without thinking twice...and I play the crap out of the games. Any extra content or things they want to throw at me I will consider...but I consider them based on the situation, and don't add the "I blew 60 bucks on a game that should have this already!" line in it. It's a few bucks, and I can live with that.Comment
