I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Also what about auto replays? Have you seen any more on big plays and td's?Comment

Re: Madden NFL 10 Patch #1 Available, Post Impressions Here
I see one of the fixes is for "improved pursuit angles on outside running plays".
No way is this fixed yet, get outside on a running play and I still see the CPU taking horrible angles, I see guys running backwards and straight downfield even though they have an angle.
They are giving me an extra 20-30 yards before they even attempt to use their angle. Even though they're ahead of me and have an angle to tackle me they are running parallel to the running back.
It also seems that sometimes when I get the corner some defenders are ignoring me (and their angle) and running backwards, turning what should have been a 3-4 yard run into an 11-12 yard run.Comment

No, that falls under the 'maybe' category for the second patch. Personally I wouldn't get your hopes up. That issue has never really appeared to be a major priority with the Madden team.Comment

I don't know what to make of it yet.
I'm using the Jets, hosting the Falcons, and the Falcons are sending 8 men like its the only play in their defensive playbook.
Of course, thats a bit of a stretch, but you get the point.Comment

i've been testing everything out in a franchise with modified coaching sliders. it definitely helps with the all-out blitz and blitzing in general. i've gotten really good games and the CPU is tough now. i just don't like the pass rush still...it's like nothing changed with that slider.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 10 Patch #1 Available, Post Impressions Here
I have given EA/Tiburon grief, which they have deserved, so I will pay them a compliment, when deserved.
One thing though. The blocking is improved, but the way in that it is accomplished is a little weird. It seems like on outside runs, the O-Line gets an unnatural speed burst, a la the receivers speed burst to make a catch, to get the outside positioning. It also seems like the game pretty much just gives the blockers the outside block, even if they are positioned to the inside.
I guess you can't complain too much because it works, but I am a little suspect about its implementation. It is a patch though, and not a new game, so maybe this was the quickest and best way that they could handle it in the short term. From a purely aesthetic standpoint however, it does not look very organic and I hope that they can find a better way to do this on subsequent Madden's, so that the outcome looks more aligned with what precipitates it visually on screen.
The pursuit angles were not fixed though and the breaking tackles, if they were tweaked, it is not apparent. It happens just as much as ever.
Overall, I am pretty pleased with the patch.
I'm a big fan of ProTak, but even recognizing that it still is a series of "animations" rather than a coherent physics "engine", it just seems like some of the most noticeable flaws about it could have been prevented. We were told that you could have up to 9 players engaged in a pile and that you could take control of defenders and push the pile backwards. I've definately seen piles with tons of players, but I don't know if I can ever recall clearly adding my defender to a pre-existing pile animation.
And you would think if they had all of these different calculations going on, then they should have just made it so that you NEVER are able to break free when you have more than 2 or 3 defenders pulling on you. It just doesn't look right when it happens, and the game actually makes it more devastating than in real life because you have defenders standing around the pile trying to get invovled (when the animation won't let them), and then as soon as A.D. breaks free, all those guys are bunched up and you pretty much can run untouched down the sideline!
Seriously, would a single person complain "Hey, how come I'm never able to break out of tackles where I have 4 defenders hanging on me!"Comment

Re: Madden NFL 10 Patch #1 Available, Post Impressions Here
OMG, you won't believe it... or maybe you will
The Falcons are on my 5 yard line and pitch left to Turner. They catch me in a 3-4 "drop zone" defense which means an easy TD for any back on the pitch, let alone Turner.
My CB, #21 Lowery is alone in space and is sure to be trucked. but, he makes the play. It happened so fast I didn't see it was him at first.
When I ran the replay and saw it was #21 I was pissed thinking it was a bunch of cheese that he could take down Turner because he would NEVER do that in real life unless he dove at Turners ankles and cut him. That wasn't the case here. The tackle was high.
Upon close scrutiny under replay I saw that Lowery grabbed Turner's facemask and twisted him down. So, I quickly got out of replay to wait for the flag to be thrown. I was happy that it was a facemask since that was the only reasonable explanation for why he made the tackle at all.
Well, here's the actual point I'm making, the reason I said "OMG". The flag never came!I waited and waited until Ryan brought his troops up for the next play. Before the snap, I quickly went back to replay and looked at that facemask from every angle possible. No question it was a facemask.
So, the point of this long ramble is that, because EA finally added the "if a penalty is called you can actually see it" in the game, you can also see when a call is blown.
Now, if you guys have seen this already then I'm sorry I wasted your time but it is the first time I have ever seen anything like this.
I'm gonna go save the highlight.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 10 Patch #1 Available, Post Impressions Here
only thing i noticed that is really irritating post patch is that:
1. The computer hardly EVER runs the ball...all they do is throw
2. Play action is not effective....
anyone have any suggestions? I can live with #2 but the computer should run the ball more than 2 times a half.Comment

that's the sliders i play with! Do you think there is any tweaking needed with them since the patch? how many times did AP actually carry the ball though? Have you changed anything with the sliders as well?Comment

Re: Madden NFL 10 Patch #1 Available, Post Impressions Here
I just can not agree with you on the whole cpu does not run the ball statement. In my fantasy draft franchise right now I am 3-2 and have allowed the most running yards in the NFL, and am one of the best pass defenses. I use custom sliders. That is all.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 10 Patch #1 Available, Post Impressions Here
i have had some games where the computer has only ran the ball 4-5 times a half. This is playing against running teams...maybe i just have to play a lil more, and see what happensComment
