The assisted tackle feature really isn't broken, if you go read Looman's post....it's calculated correctly but it's portrayed wrong when looking at the stats. It's more of a cosmetic thing of visually showing us how our tackles compare to the rest of the league....really read his post and you'll get a better understanding...

And also your own tackles arent counted right, so the tackles stats are at least not working correctly this year, maybe not completely "broken" , but I'm still very disappointed. I just hate it in my Raiders Franchise that Howard and Morrison only get around 60-70 tackles a year...Comment

Re: Madden NFL 10 Patch #2 Details Coming Next Week
Good morning, guys.
<O
I just wanted to check in with you guys on what I'm currently tuning for the patch.
<O
<O
I'm looking at some of the offline franchise stats there have been complaints about and I want to make sure my priorities match yours.
<O
<O
Here’s a disclaimer before you start reading the sections below:
<O
<O
First off, the problem with our stats engine is that it’s touchy. If I bring passing touchdowns down slightly, that could mean that rushing touchdowns rocket up to 25-30. It will also mean that receiving touchdowns could drop much lower.
The trick is finding the right balance, which won’t be perfect but will be as close as it can get.
When you get these fixes, you may still be unhappy with a few of the results. My goal is to get them as close as possible so that it doesn’t ruin the experience for you in offline franchise mode.<O
Another key thing to remember: This tuning is for offline franchise only. Online franchise runs on a completely separate engine and these changes do not apply to online franchise.
<O
<O
Rushing touchdowns<O
I'm trying to increase these so that they match what normally happens in the NFL each year. I'd like the max to be around 15-18, since the leader last year had 18 and the leader in 2007 had 15. After tuning this yesterday, I’ve got the league leaders at about 22, which is still too high for me yet.
<O
<O
Passing touchdowns<O
I’m trying to decrease these slightly. After some tuning yesterday, I’m getting QBs with about 35 as the max for a season. Here's what they look like right now:
<O
Rushing averages<O
I’m trying to increase these for backups. The problem is…if I increase them for backups, they go up for starters too.
After yesterday’s tuning, Peterson and Turner are averaging 7.0 yards per carry. I’m working on bringing that down.
<O
<O
Tackles <O
Now for the ‘game killer’ that has caused numerous people to wait weeks to start franchise mode. After doing some digging, I figured out what the problem is.
<O</O
The screens are mislabeled.
<O
Here’s what’s going on…in-game, we display two columns on the stats screen for tackles; solo tackles and assisted tackles.
<O
When you load back out of game and go into the season stats screen, you now see two columns as well, but they are labeled total tackles and assisted tackles.
<O</O
The total tackle column is actually showing solo tackles and every other screen that displays total tackles is showing the solo tackle stat, even though we are adding them together in the back end.
<O
When it comes to progression, it is using the combined tackle numbers, even though you don’t see that value in a column when looking at the spreadsheet.
<O
Here’s a screenshot of my stats screen in-game after playing a 5 minute quarter game in week one:
<O
And here’s a screenshot of my stats screen after exiting that game:
<O</O
<O
<O
</O
<O
So, the fix here is that I need to try and decrease solo tackle numbers for the top guys in the league right now.
Beason led the NFL with 110 solo tackles last year, and I’ve got guys getting 160-170 right now.
I need to try and pull those down and distribute them all a little more evenly, especially when it comes to the number of tackles that corners get.
<O
Injuries <O
Since the stat engine also controls simmed injuries, I’m going to tune these down slightly and I mean slightly. I’m happy with the number of injuries we have in the sim right now, but I’ve seen a lot of complaints, so I’m going to decrease these a little bit.
<O
<O
Sacks<O
I’m also looking into increasing sacks for outside linebackers in the 3-4. Our stat engine does a decent job of differentiating between 4-3 and 3-4 defenses, but as I mentioned before, it’s touchy.
I worked for weeks just trying to get linebackers in general to get sacks instead of DTs. I’ll see what I can do in this department, but this one will be much tougher than the rest of the categories above.
Ok, that’s what I’ve got planned for now.
Is there any other category of stats that should have a higher priority than the ones I mentioned above?
I’ve got limited time to get this stuff in for the patch, so I’ve got to pick the highest priority things that are bothering you guys the most.
<O</O
here is what josh put in....not a broken feature, just misrepresentedComment

Re: Madden NFL 10 Patch #2 Details Coming Next Week
Here's the thing, I would agree with you, but when you look back career stats it only shows the total tackles not assisted tackles. So to me, it's broken because we don't know really know how many total tackles they had over their career...only solo tackles. And I think someone else brought this up and I've brought up many times, but it seems like EVERY new feature they have brought into this game isn't working right.
I'm scared of what the next patch might do to the game.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 10 Patch #2 Details Coming Next Week
Exactly what is needed. You guys should throw out 3 patches if thats whats needed this year. Dont leave this game broken, and in return you will gain all of us as repeat customers next year!
Show us you mean buisiness on releasing a good game, and I'll continue to buy and support your products!
I got rid of Madden quite some time ago but if they do make some dramatic improvements than maybe I'll bite again. It would have to be major though.Comment

This will never end until there are options or EA makes an amazing NFL game. As good as Madden was this year, once again I am selling it because it just doesn't make me want to play over and over like *** did.
On the plus side, you can get 30% more on a trade in now for MW2, so I'd like to thank Madden for having a decent trade in value.Comment

...any chance that they will allow the stadiums with retractable roofs (Arizona, Houston, Dallas and Indy) to have them open in franchise mode?Comment

This is a dumb question but is there any specific date this week that the patch details (and I'm guessing the patch itself) are coming out on like say, today?Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

Re: Madden NFL 10 Patch #2 Details Coming Next Week
Great googly moogly, 20+ pages on the announcement that there will be an announcement about the patch. At this rate the discussion the actual patch will generate will clog all of the Intertubes.
Once consoles became online-ready, patches became a part of console gaming. If sports developers took the route of taking 3-4 years between games to perfect everything, all of you would be begging for them to release the newest version sooner.
Madden deserves criticism -- it should be further along than it has come on this generation, and compared to even other EA games it is lacking in many areas. But it definitely made more progress this year than it had in the previous years combined.
If people think it sucks and want to say it sucks, that's fine. I just can't get over how bent out of shape people get about a game. You would think Ian and company came into your house and farted in your oatmeal.
The fact that they are patching the game shows that the Madden team want to at least try and improve the experience of the game. Company's that don't care don't take steps like this, and Madden has likely made most of the money it's going to make this year, so it's not like this is a financially beneficial move. These patches are being done to address issues with the game and complaints/suggestions from consumers.
You may think that the game should be better when it is released or that the patches should do more or come out sooner. Regardless, the fact remains that there are people working to try and make Madden a better experience for those who have purchased it. That effort is commendable even if the results are open to debate.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 10 Patch #2 Details Coming Next Week
Yes, I do realize that there is an exclusive license to NFL-based games. I also realize that there is no exclusive license to the game of football generally (See Blitz: The League), and I also realize that just because I want something doesn't mean that I'm entitled to having other people make it for me while I sit back and contribute nothing.
Yes, you pay $60 for it, but that doesn't create a legal or moral obligation for EA to make the game the way you want it, especially when the majority of consumers (parents of bratty children, as you yourself suggest) are perfectly happy paying $60 for the product as is. They put out a product; you buy it; end of transaction.
If you're looking for a perfect NFL sim game and the only product on the market is imperfect, then why are you wasting your money on a product you don't want and then complaining about it? You knew what you were getting into, and if you didn't test it before you bought it, that's your fault.
For the record, I am not an EA fanboy; I hate EA and the stupid exclusive license. But I also recognize that while this product is not perfect, it's worth $60, especially with free patches that can address a number of problems (many of which don't affect me since I don't play online). It's certainly cheaper than the alternative of developing a competing product, and I'm against the position that many on these forums have taken ("do more work for me and increase your expenses in order to accommodate a niche market that has already paid for the product, but charge the same price as you do currently. Otherwise, I'll buy next year's version and complain about that one too.")
Imagine the following scenario: you go into a restaurant and order the top selling dish on the menu. You summon the head chef and tell him that the dish should be perfect and complain that it lacks black truffle shavings and caviar. You tell him the next time you come to his restaurant you expect to see these changes made, and you expect to pay the same price. How realistic does that sound?
The product did get released broken in some regards, the calculation of tackles, players morphing,I just played against the seahawks in franchise yesterday and there was an injury to a WR the WR's jersey on the field said Branch but when the injury summary popped up on the screen it said it was burelson so I'm thinking okay the guys jersey said Branch but it was Burlseon because he was actually supposed to be in the game for that play, very next play who catches a TD pass but Burelson.Thats not asking for caviar thats asking for the game to be how its supposed to be.If it wasn't advertised as mysterious guess who is actually injured, injury's happening in the game then it better not have any...
I'm not a Madden ***** I have purchased Madden every year since the Sega days, I would say the game itself has taken the first step in utilizing the next Gen systems especially for PS3 but it still has something to fix.I'm hoping for an Engine change next year theirs to many good engines being utilized for Madden to not be on the leading edge as far as graphics go and what better way to showcase an engine but in a sports game were you have millions of animations going on at once and players hitting and crashing and bouncing off of each other. And god dam EA if you can't create the best engine for Madden then go out and buy it!Last edited by ABR173rd; 10-12-2009, 05:58 PM.Comment
