To anyone who is still complaining about this game/Ian: get up off your chair, head on over to your washroom, and go look into that shiny reflective piece of glass hanging over the sink. Yes, that's you, the person whose arm nobody twisted. The person who didn't wait until the user reviews were all in before purchasing Madden 10.

I rented Madden 10. I didn't buy it because I rented it first. Two months later I have zero complaints about the game, and I couldn't care less what Ian is up to. See how that works?

Bottom line...he didn't have an issue spending time in the forums BEFORE M10's release....now all of a sudden when there's a boat load of issues that we would like to be addressed,NOW you're saying he probably needs to spend more time at work than on the forums.

So, maybe we go back to before Ian started to show up and not have any interaction with the developers at all. I know that's not what you are saying, but you can't have it both ways. We don't know what is going on in Ian's life, but some of us pretend that we do know. Based on my experience, with a new job title(promotion) becomes more responsibility. More responsibility on the job usually means less family time or me time.

Hopefully, some of those issues you are talking about will be taken care of in the upcoming patch.

on the plus side,now I won't get sucked into the pre-release hype....

I'm one of the moderators on the Madden forums on the EA Sports website. That's not the case anymore. The mod team has really cleaned up the forums. We have a great bunch of guys over there.

Sure, we have a few knuckleheads every now and then but what forum doesn't it?

apparently this one has a lot of them. people just flame him and are really immature. they don't realize that we're worse off without him and aren't really thankful for all of the dev. interaction. i stayed away from the madden boards here for awhile b/c of this.

The point is that Ian shouldn't need thicker skin or better coping skills. This forum is a mess and rather than presenting constructive criticism, many would rather repeatedly gripe and accuse both EA and Ian of various evils.

That said, I don't know that this is indicative of anything more than him centralizing for mass information. A lot of people don't bother to come to OS, and Ian or Phil (maybe both?) have mentioned getting the EA forums cleaned up to be that place.

We'll see, but I imagine Ian's lack of regular presence here right now is more due to there being nothing constructive to come from it, rather than him running away. Just my .02.

You pretty much nailed it sir. Not that there isn't valid feedback coming from here, I still read here almost daily, but it's that me constantly communicating hasn't given me any perceived value. It's a pretty miserable experience to spend all night writing back and forth only to have an army of guys follow me into each thread to virtually degrade me about time-shift tackling or some other buzzword of the day. For those saying I need to develop thicker skin - I think I have the thickest skin on the planet dealing with this forum. I guarantee that it's thicker than any person out there in gaming after what I have read this year. So leave that alone - I'm not running away because my feelings are hurt - I'm just not spending all my time answering your questions and concerns individually. We've decided that lately it's better for me to just lurk and pull information, and communicate back down more sporadically with big chunks of news (instead of answering one question at a time)...and this is the same approach we're taking on the EA forums. I'm not on there constantly - I just post questions, gather all the feedback, and then go from there.
