I like the way it is in game.Makes it a better challenge.
I think they should leave it like it is.
I also think it is done by design for a challenge.
I had a player that wouldn't even take 112mill because my team STUNK!
He eventually signed after a Franchise Tag at the end of the next season during the playoffs

CBs, Gs, FBs, QBs, and HBs seem to be the worst to me. I don't resign any CBs because the average ones demand 10 mil a year from me. I'm currently paying my fullback over 6 mil (he's lucky he's the reincarnation of jesus christ, and I also have him playing at HB instead of FB). I almost never resign my guards because whatever it says their desired price is, I always have to go up 5-10 mil to actually sign them. I'm paying my backup QB 9 mil right now (granted hes a 87 overall), but my 3rd string 60 overall wanted 2 mil a year. And I was paying my backup HB (73 overall) like 3 mil a year. That's pretty high for a backup right?

Challenge? It's unreailstic, and annoyingly so.

I want to at least see an EA rep in here to acknowledge that they read it.

The FA is terrible. How come the CPU can sign players to $460K and I can't even sign a 49 overall OLB to less than a $760K contract???

I havent actually played franchise for real yet, but I simmed a season to check out the offseason, and its ridiculous.

Willie Colon, RT for the Steelers is rated 82. Thats above average...maybe simply good. He wanted 10 mil a year. WTF? I shudder to think what it costs to resign a guy like Michael Roos or Ryan Clady.

And watch the computer sign that guy to a mere fraction of what he was asking from your team ... probably like $2 million per year or something like that.

I can't believe this has not been brought up before. I can understand the challenge and what not but this is just outrageously unrealistic. I understand that rookies ask for higher contracts each year and that the contracts go higher and higher as they go, but when the CPU can sign free agents to cheaper contracts yet you can't even offer the minimum contract to a player rated below 50 ... that's just wrong!

If they patched this, they better have patched the players I have to get to get a low-rated player. It's bogus.

Realism would be a great challenge.

Not this make it harder for the human stuff. Not signing because the player isn't interested in playing for a weak team is one thing (though no player would reject a 112 M contract, imo), but if one team can sign a guy for like 1/10 of what it takes for you to sign him - that's not realism. That's just cheap "adding challenge".

The challenge can come in by creating bidding wars and escalating prices and make you think if you want to pay the rising bids. Not by what it's doing now, imo.

They should go to the HC 09 method of free agency with the bidding.

This! Heck lets make just about everything in franchise like HC09, That was a near perfect game in terms of ideas.

That's why I still like that game... NFL Head Coach 09 is still enjoyable today because of how polished its franchise was... with so many options, paths to go to, coaches to hire, systems to develop... it is PERFECT for Madden IMO.

If you guys like Head Coach so much then why dont you just go play Head Coach?

Why would they take everything from HC09 and out it in Madden?

They would have to call it Head Coach then.Madden is Madden and Head Coach is Head Coach. PERIOD Just like 2k5 is 2k5 and Madden is Madden. If you like that other game so much then go to that Forum. This is the Madden Forums.

And if you guys don't like the amount of money rookies ask for then turn the cap off.

I do like Head Coach, and I still do play Head Coach... lol. I don't think anyone is saying Head Coach is the better game and that it should completely replace Madden ... we're just saying the *franchise* part of NFL HC would be perfect for Madden.

They're not even the same type of game so making a post like that is kind of ignorant if you ask me. One is a strategy, GM kind of game while the other is a go-out-and-play-yourself type of game.
