I agree with this move. Extra Point/Halftime was so poorly done that the only time I didnt X thru it was when I had to make a trip to the kitchen. I watched extra point maybe 3 times.

With the other announced improvements im very glad they spent development time on those before tackling these aspects of the game.

Agreed with this, pretty much exactly the same for me. The Extra Point had the right IDEA, but it was not implelnted well. There was no commentary during the highlights and basically nothing that made it worth watching every time.

Hopefully, franchise is at least to the point where next year, it wont need any major upgrades, and one of the big focuses for Madden 13 can be the rest of presentation, like highlight shows and commentating.

Exactly. I would much rather them tackle the core functions of the game (gameplay, franchise, etc) almost exclusively, then once all that is working well and correctly the next year can be tune-ups and beautification (presentation & "little things") and it looks to me like they're on the right track with 12

I fully agree with the sentiment that Extra Point should be removed, but I wish less people would excuse EA out of doing at least something for half-time and weekly recaps. It seems like there's this constant "At least EA is focusing on this" refrain whenever EA disappoints in presentation.

We should insist on both gameplay and presentation. There's no reason why a company as big as EA (and with absolutely no competition) shouldn't have the resources to satisfy both.

yea they just got the license for another few years and yet even Though they have no Competition year after year , they fail to do anything with the title

which is why i wanted 2k to get the License back , they do not mess around

I just don't understand what their problem is with that. I think they do some really good work in the art department, but this Madden should be a huge turn-around, and from the early playthrough reports, it's sounding like a slightly improved version of Madden 11. I haven't made any final judgments yet, and I'm hoping they've implemented SOMETHING to make Franchise Mode feel important, but I guess we won't know til Monday.

YES! Someone who actually gets it. I agree with this post 100%! Thank you!

With them possibly not having this in the game in some aspects, makes the game more regressed. Yes they added other things but if something isn't broken then why take it out?

Agreed it was terrible and thrown together. Although I hated the radio show as well.

As with many other things, this is just another instance of EA introducing something promising, half-assing it, then removing it instead of improving it, and promising to rebuild it from the ground up to make it better (except, we never actually reach that stage...and the cycle just repeats).

Phil said that broadcasting would be overhauled completely for M13. I'd imagine that in-game audio as a whole will be improved, and there's no reason it shouldn't be carried over to pre/half/posgame and even a highlight show as well.

I personally would rather wait till next year when they have the new commentary engine for all audio. I think the Extra Point or whatever they call it and the halftime show will sound much better with the new engine versus giving us something with the old engine this year. I am hoping the wait will be well worth it. Still seeing a lot about Madden 12 to enjoy in the meantime.

Watch out you'll be warned for this. But I totally agree with you. EA has a history of removing features and then putting them back in and promoting them as one of their many improvements.

Rather than bother with responding to some of the more overdramatic gentlemen in this thread, I'll just say that I agree with this post.

Re: Bad Move to scrap Extra Point/Halftime Show

                                Heres my feeling.

Sports games should try and capture as much of the television broadcast experience as possible because it's how we all watch sports on TV(albeit going to a stadium-which stadium entrances are where those are seen the most).

You have broadcasters for commentary, you have cameras that pan in and out on the action, you have replay you have play by play analysis and you have pregame halftime and post game shows as well as well timeouts and of course lulls in gameplay.

Madden 12 does EVERYTHING except the pregame halftime and post game shows. NFL 2k5 did it and Madden 10/11 I think tried 'introducing it' back, but it was to dramatic for its own good and felt "tacked on

What you want is a happy medium and i think madden 12 has that and i feel it has nothing tacked on that needs updating. of course unless the broadcast stuff gets real old fast that you see the same qb timeout and huddle stuff time after time.

We won't know til the full game though if all this broadcast stuff will be repetitive and thats what maybe worries me the most.

Having tacked on halftime show one like in years previous I'd get irritated with.
