Re: Madden NFL 12 Demo Available Now, Post Impressions Here (360, PS3)
I have played the demo only a few times. I played all madden and like the feel even though its very much the same look I only care about gameplay. I have not played nearly enough but it seems I have not found any plays thats exploitable majority of time as in previous EA sports football!!! I guess Im most excited the CPU D actually defends 4 verts even when a slot reciever runs a diagonal route. I will be really excited if I dont have to create custom playbooks and pull plays out becuz of dumb ai. Any vets agree with me or want to shed the light Im a few games a way from tearing the CPU up with an air attack?Comment

I'm all for people expressing themselves .. that's fine, but pointless battles back and forth get us nowhere ..

Re: Madden NFL 12 Demo Available Now, Post Impressions Here (360, PS3)
I'm a Silver XBL member so I just the demo tonight. Color me impressed, I liked it enough that I'll putting NCAA up on eBay and making the move to Madden.
The visuals are nice but most importantly Madden does not have the three major gripes that I have with NCAA.
- DB's mirroring routes and zones being way too powerful (though it can be greatly toned down with sliders in NCAA).
- DB's going for "breadbasket" catches way too often on lobbed/deep passes. Leads to bad, bad receptions because the DB thinks they're having a catch in their backyard instead of trying to defend a pass. Thankfully Madden doesn't have this.
- Psychic D playcalling. Call a screen pass on AA or Heisman in NCAA and the CPU will always, 100% of the damn time, come out in man-to-man bump-n-run. Madden doesn't have this either from what I've seen.
I also like that receivers can get wide open in this game on all-pro, especially against zones. WR's are very, very rarely wide open in NCAA unless your cheesing with a 4-Verts type of play.
The running game is of course beautiful, just like in NCAA."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: Madden NFL 12 Demo Available Now, Post Impressions Here (360, PS3)
Downloaded demo on Tuesday and played about five games:
Overall, positive vibes. I liked Madden 10 a lot; it was the best Madden next-gen IMO. Didn't play 11. I'd be shocked if Madden 12 isn't the best in the series, possibly by a wide margin.
As a charter member of the Graphics Ho Club, I'm happier than Charlie Sheen in a brothel with the look of this game, especially the close-ups and cut scenes. Love the grass stains on unis and scuffed helmets (that wasn't in 10).
Agree with many that very slow is the speed to go. I think that's what I played on 10 as well. Running game is great. You're rewarded for making right decisions, following your blocks, being judicious with the sprint button, and you're punished for making wrong decisions.
Passing is OK, thought I expect it to be much better with silder adjustments and in the final build. Biggest complaint, like in NCAA, is the super LBs knocking down passes. If they don't so something about this it will be extremely disappointing.
Also, maybe it's just me but depending on the direction of the sun and the angle of the light, it's sometimes difficult to distinguish receivers from DBs for a split second, as both appear too dark.
Too many sacks, but, like I said, I haven't touched the sliders.
I like the kicking meter and feel it doesn't take long to adjust to after playing NCAA. I also like the panned out camera view on kicks. But if you're on one of the hash marks, I noticed you get a better feel for the angle from the alternate view (either L or R trigger, I think).
I hear some kind of Bears fight song after they score. Hope they have others in there, including the Redskins, Chargers and Lions (as wimpy as their fight song is it's funny).
Looking forward to the 30th. Hopefully it's not a bug-filled abomination like NCAA.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 12 Demo Available Now, Post Impressions Here (360, PS3)
perhaps this is new...can;t recall
AI *clock awareness*
I'm down 9-7 with 1:45 to go.....i complete a pass to about the CPU 31....FG territory.
so from here I could run the clock & kick GWFG....but the CPU also knows this & proceeds to use his 3 TO to preserve clock
i do end up kicking the FG but 1:00+ is still on the clock for the CPU
I don;t recall the CPU being this *aware* in previous versions....am I wrong?Bummed that you're not on my ignore list yet?.....Don't worry, I'm sure you will be very soon.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 12 Demo Available Now, Post Impressions Here (360, PS3)
Finally downloaded the demo, played a few games on All-pro (slow speed, threshold 35). While the presentation elements are all very nice, I just can't get over the animations in general. I have seen very few tackle animations that realistically branched into a second defender coming in to assist in the tackle. Either the first guy smokes him, or he breaks the tackle and moves onto the next 1 vs. 1 situation...there are very few instances where multiple defenders are piling on and realistically affecting the outcome.
Everything feels herky jerky to me, and there are a lot of repetitive animations. Seeing 3 O-lineman pancake defenders with the exact same animation side by side at the same time is really annoying. Maybe it's just me, but this game will never be good to me until they get an accurate representation of physics and some true gang tackling to go along with it.
The best part about the demo, was the fact there was no commentary.Comment

Well then I stand corrected, there are zero instances of this happening. I didn't study the tackles close but now that you say that it sounds about right, once you get 2 guys engaged with someone the 3rd defender just kinda tumbles over the pile or does some wierd bullfighting sidestep type move.Comment

seeing how the NFL is now a passing league I bet for 4 15 min quarters it's quite low.......Bummed that you're not on my ignore list yet?.....Don't worry, I'm sure you will be very soon.Comment

The main thing to me is they got rid of a lot of suction.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 12 Demo Available Now, Post Impressions Here (360, PS3)
I HAVE seen my share of gang tackles. But in the NFL, it's true: it doesn't happen so much. The game is so fast that unless you see a guy trying to stuff it up the middle, you don't see more than 3 guys on the ball carrier. By the time two guys each the carrier, he's going down. I'd much rather have this than Pro-Tak.
Edit: Watch this video and count how many times Chris Johnson is tackled by more than 3 guys. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JoUr82vUx60
Edit 2: "But Johnson is awesome!" Then watch Moreno: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=92owAaBGf_ALast edited by Broncos86; 08-18-2011, 12:07 PM.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 12 Demo Available Now, Post Impressions Here (360, PS3)
The more I play, the more I like it. Finally excited for the release of Madden again!
Played as Bears last night...Forte is a beast. 10 carries, 190 yds, 2 TDs on pro default sliders. And is it just me, or is the Chicago O-line that much better than the Green Bay defensive line?!!NOW PLAYING: Battlefield 3, MLB 12 The Show
