I'm playing the actual franchise, 32 team control cutting UDFA and doing resigning. I was just curious as to your results with their priorities at 100, are you seeing teams with a good QB take one first round?

I guess we aren't allowed to Edit Player Roles can we? If we want to make someone a Franchise QB who isn't listed as a Franchise QB, could we do that if we controlled just one team or does it have to be controlling all 32 teams?Comment

Re: I Fixed the Imported Draft! (No P/K in first round, no Carolina taking a QB)
Thanks for posting these. If I understand correctly, you controlled all 32 teams, set the draft priorities, and then switched to just one team for future years? Glad to see the priorities are retained (if that's the case)...but what happens when they should be dropped? Dalton won't be a future star QB for ever of course, and Manning/Brady will eventually retire, etc. Yet the teams aren't smart enough to figure this out. That's why...at least until we ever get an official patch...I retain control of all 32 teams.
I went ahead and simmed to year 4, with year 3 using a Madden class. Going into the 7th round there were multiple QB's left with either 5th or higher grades that ended up signing with teams as Free Agents. The year begin with only 1 team having a fake QB, the rest of the QB's were either already players in 2011 or draft pickups. Even teams with 0 priority that I set (may have changed after a few years) had either serviceable backups or guys who could take over the starting job if needed.
Going to test some more with an uncapped Franchise. Making an extra save after the first year and seeing what I can find as a good priority point to put at QB for teams with solid QB's already. Did 0 for franchise QB's or 20 for teams not in direct need, going to try possibly bumping franchise QB teams to 20 (so they still might pick up a backup) and teams who might need a qb a touch higher also.
I hope using the priorities and uncapped can result in a Franchise for those who don't want to do 32 team control. If I can get the CPU be half decent I'll be happy, since I enjoy the CPU doing draft trades and trade blocks (even CPU won't do them, though there are work arounds for that which is why I'm doing uncapped).Comment

Thanks man. That's probably a good sign because I haven't seen any kickers picked in the 1st round yet. Punters are there though.Comment

Re: I Fixed the Imported Draft! (No P/K in first round, no Carolina taking a QB)
Did the first offseason of an uncapped franchise (32 at start then switched to 1). If a team really needed a QB they were 100, if they didn't (regardless if they have a long term qb or not) I put them at 50. Good to know too that teams with a "QB of the future" won't make a first round pick on a QB.
First kicker taken was Punter D Butler (top10 grade) near the end of the 6th. Rest of the kickers chosen were in the 7th. Going to sim through 2 more years and see how it pans out. BTW, Uncapped seems to work well with the undrafted player issue too. I only corrected the Broncos and Bucs rosters year 1 (since I know them better than most of the other teams) and even though they have undrafted players, most spots have 2 or more core vets ahead of them so far.
Going to try out a tighter priority for QB's later on, maybe 90 for needed and 70 for non essential. Obviously for single team users you don't want to see some teams become stacked at QB while others become bare, so maybe keeping the difference tighter teams with great Qb's will still pick up a QB down the road for a solid backup/future starter.Comment

Re: I Fixed the Imported Draft! (No P/K in first round, no Carolina taking a QB)
Are there any longterm issues with using imported draft classes from NCAA versus the generated draft classes in Madden?
Any major differences or problems with player progression with imported draft classes or other issues?
Looking to start a franchise and wanted to use imported classes as long as there aren't any longterm issues.Comment

Re: I Fixed the Imported Draft! (No P/K in first round, no Carolina taking a QB)
It also seems that you lose out on the sleeper pick ability. When you import a draft class the only players that become great are 1st and 2nd round picks. They basically end up being as good as the round they were drafted in. That kind of takes the fun out of the draft.
Anyone notice any 4th-7th round skill position players actually become 90+ rating later in their career when importing a draft class?
If there aren't going to be any sleeper picks then I think I will stick with the Madden generated classes.Comment

Good point, though since I prefer to only control my teams after year 1 it's a decent work around for the first few years.

However, I have seen some serious bombs over time. One QB taken in...the fourth or fifth round I think...dropped almost 15 OVR in a single season. It's possible...probable...that some guys in the 5th round could raise up higher than someone taken in the third round, since rounds 3-5 tend to be roughly equal (guys in the mid-low 70's). Just because someone is a B potential is not a guarentee that he will ever reach B-level overalls.Comment

Re: I Fixed the Imported Draft! (No P/K in first round, no Carolina taking a QB)
That's a very interesting finding! I have seen the CPU take players with an F potential in the fifth round while C potential players went in the 7th round, due to the overalls being higher for the F potential guy, but I haven't closely tracked it. Having a 1st rounder with a D potential is pretty awesome, in my opinion.Comment

So, it's no like Davis was the best QB available. The Seahawks reached and missed. It was pretty awesome.Green Bay Packers

The Bills fell into that area, but they wound up with Matt Flynn. I think that's what changed the whole dynamic of how the draft fell into place. But they drafted Justin Blackmon who also had a top five grade.
Davis just had a round 1 overall grade.Green Bay Packers
