I think the sounds are an upgrade, but Madded 12 had the worst commentary in the business imo so it had nowhere to go but up. Bottom line is I don't think it's close to being in the same league as NBA12, the Show or even NHL 11 by the sounds of this....

I liked the qb cadences, but that's about it. Everything else is still not up to par with other sports games. The crowd in particular sounded non-existant. Disappointing since I really expected EA to bring it in this department this year. It won't be a game killer for me, but isn't changing my opinion that this game will be a no buy or even rent for me either.
Is it fair to say its disappointing when the game is still in development? Clearly the crowd was nonexistent because there wasn't any crowd noise..it was a WIP beta sample of the sound..it has been discussed a few times already in case you missed it. Yes all past madden games had terrible sound..but was there "ever" any madden game when you heard zero crowd noise after a TD? I think that should tell you that this is clearly a WIP segment we heard, which it was.

Again.. we cant put a final judgement on a piece thats not final..this goes with anything..movies, games, etc..this is why i never judge a book by its cover, i learned that the hard way.

It's year one laying the new foundation of sound technology. I don't think in one year all of a sudden they be on the same level or catapult the games you mentioned.

Player hits sound great too.
I heard the podcast, it sounded very nice. The question is where is the crowd noise and player hits in this vid? Why didn't they put it all together to really show off what they did?

I've become an eternal skeptic with this game on this generation. In order to convince me they brought it this year, they need to convice me like they would Rod Tidwell.

He's talking about a sample of the commentary when a player scored a TD and there was zero sound at one point..i mean no sound at all..it seemed very odd but it was addressed already that it was something that was not part of the final product but a segment that was meant to give an example of the play-by-play commentary and not the ambient crowd sound...i noticed it quickly myself..the commentary was rolling and suddenly after the TD the sound completely went dead..no crowd no nothing...but thats because it was a sample for the commentary..the crowd noise was not even in the sample..

After 8 years of medicority I don't have the patience for 3 year plans or year 1 of this sound upgrade plan to be honest. The new xbox720s release next fall apparently.

Forget I even mentioned NBA2k or the Show, I expect EA's football game to at least match EA's hockey and soccer game. That doesn't seem unreasonable to me.

Yeah, I knew what he was talking about, but a few weeks ago it was confirmed that was an old build.

I just saw those other games mentioned, and I wouldn't personally think that in the first year Madden would be the same or above the games mentioned, but it's a good target to shoot for.

I hear you KJ on the patience, but based on the past, I want a foundation laid before rushing new tech out and having it buggy.

The only problem I have about the foundation being laid properly first is that, it seems every 3 years, someone new comes along and digs up the foundation and starts over.

What if Chase leaves Madden in 2 years? People thought Ian was on the right path a couple years back--he's gone. I can't recall--is Phil Frazier still there? I think he's gone, too. Now it's Cam Weber's show and foundation...until he goes, as well.

My point isn't that people come and go--it's a business. That happens in life. But you can have people come and go and still maintain a clear direction and goal. If you want a football analogy, look at the Steelers--coaches and players come and go, but the foundation doesn't shift and the goal is never altered.

I feel like the Madden team always has a clear direction...a clear plan for 2-3 years, and then it shifts and we start over.

Understood and agree, but out of our control.

I was merely thinking of the rushed pro-tak, Extra Point, etc...... fight for fumble

Correct me if im wrong but i dont think chase is the main audio guy..from my understanding there is a team working on the audio..its not a one man game here..EA has added double the amount of dev's to madden this year..again correct me if i am wrong.

By the way..this community here gets a lot of my respect..we are part of the reason for the changes taking place..so look at it as a positive thing rather than a negative thing. If it werent for us..i guarantee you madden would NOT be improving like it is right now..

I think you're right for sure on the audio, but I believe Chase is the point man for commentary. Not sure 100% though...

Radio Guy was a disaster, but I gotta admit, he had emotion. Esp. when playing a home game. Gave it that "home team radio" feel.

Matt Bialosuknia is the Audio Director, Chase is the Audio Designer, I'm not sure what each role means, but I do know those are their titles.

I would have never used the Steelers as a example. They are so loyal to the their coaches

I would have used the Niners , but I got what your stating with the rest of your post.

They need to stop hiring actual announcers for these gigs. These guys are used to the real thing so asking them to be fired up over a video game is never going to work no matter what you're paying them. I realize the vast majority of people on here want this game to look and sound like a tv broadcast so they want real guys, but it does still feel like an actual broadcast when those guys are half asleep?
