Theres no way its 30-40 percent. At least 95% of people who buy this game could not care less about editing rosters...or even most of the other things that the few hundred hardcore players who visit this website care about. In fact, most people just play one off games with their friends either online or in person. In the real world this is a non issue. -
I think you overestimate the impact of this.Last edited by treq21; 06-19-2012, 10:21 AM.Comment

If full editing is such a non-issue, then why was this HUGE thread brought up two years ago? http://www.operationsports.com/forum...-thoughts.html
Also, here's my blog about how I might be able to enjoy the game this year:

I also find it funny that you brought up that thread because I've seen this argument used multiple times in regards to how it's unthinkable that it didn't make it into the game.
It's very easy enough to 'unlock' the screen to allow someone to edit everything about their players in Franchise mode. Took like 10 minutes to do.
Unfortunately, there are about a million things that can go wrong with this unlocked.Comment

No, you guys miss the main point being who started that whole thread - The lead Madden Developer - Ian Cummings.
The big guy knew it was important enough to get done. As soon as he's gone, the new guy doesn't care to focus on it so much.I'm still playing NCAA 14 and Madden 25...and you know, it's alright.

yes, he started it on Operation Sports...where people care about such things. The masses do not. And EASports knows that...which is why they really dont care, and why they are doing this in the first place.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 13 Roster Editing Issue Rears Its Ugly Head
gentlemen, slightly off topic but how does regression work?
I dont quite understand progression, you earn XP and build your players....so what about all the other players' progression? Do you only progress everyone if you are the coach or can you allocate to anybody [not just your selected player]?
In addition how does your player regress if you are in control of XP and allocation of said points.
My biggest gripe was that so many players took 7 point jumps from rookie to sophomore season and hardly any players regressed until they reached 33 yrs old or so. This is part of the reason I can't handle the no edit issue in franchise mode. I like to re-edit everyone so that the top guys are 92/93 overall ala fifa, and have everyone follow suit.
Having the old progressions system there would be several players over 96, several meaning almost 30 by the second and third years of my franchise [not acceptable to me]Comment

I think the masses do care about editing, they probably just don't take issue with it on message boards though.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 13 Roster Editing Issue Rears Its Ugly Head
I need to quit assuming everyone sees what I see, so for that I apologize. I will fill in the blanks.
Ian doesn't come on this forum or any other forum giving us full disclosure and then also asking our specific desires unless he knows it will matter to a great degree. If such a small percentage of people care about editing, then in no way does Ian (the lead developer of Madden) hit up forums as such.
That right there is some mad respect and knowing that your audience determines your project's worth. It also proves how much editing matters because they knew to address it massively per such forums and then addressed it in the game.I'm still playing NCAA 14 and Madden 25...and you know, it's alright.

Re: Madden NFL 13 Roster Editing Issue Rears Its Ugly Head
As a matter of fact, one of the guys will not be purchasing M13 due to the last three series and Madden in his eyes basically becoming stale. I spent over an hour after the CCM and E3 presentation all of which he was unaware of, trying to convince him that M13 was a must buy this year explaining all the new features. Long story short he wasn't convinced and all of his reasons for bypassing M13 are all similar to what you've read on any internet forum.
I would even go as far as to say some of the top online player's (cheeser or not) do not all belong to any forum's or follow Madden as closely as some of us. That doesn't mean they don't have the same gripes/compliments that we do regarding the game.
Difference between us and them is going to be release day when they figure out after their purchase some of their favorite features are missing.Comment

I wanted to touch on this statement which is completely untrue. I have a couple buddy's I work with whom I have never played Madden against. All of them play online as well as offline franchise just as much as I do. None of them go onto any forums or websites regarding Madden. Yet all of them can and have pointed out all of the same flaws that you would see on a board like this.

Considering it's a lot of back and forth with the same points by the same people, along with a lot of random topics being corralled into about 5, I don't think the size of the thread means anything.Comment
