Re: Interesting, somewhat upsetting quote by Peter Moore if you're an offline player
Wasn't just last year and the year before all the online players was complaining because the online franchise players got the short end of the stick. We got stuck with a strip down version of a website and settings for the mode. Now online has everything and the offline players got the short end of the stick. Why in the world can't EA create some balance with the two. NCAA has done it why is this so hard for this team?Comment

Re: Interesting, somewhat upsetting quote by Peter Moore if you're an offline player
Isn't CCM while being a coach exactly like franchise. You play the games, scout, draft, sign FA's etc.
The day video games become "online only" is the day I stop playing video games or at least just play old games. There are lots of gamers that live in areas where high speed internet capable of handling games isn't available, and satelite providers aren't even an option at this point. Those things go out when a bird passes it and farts.
So instead of everyone complaining be happy you at least have the option to get it faster online this year and offline you will still get it eventually the old slow way its been updated every year prior to this for offline what was Franchise mode.Go Lions, Tigers, Pistons, Red Wings, Wolverines!Comment

Re: Interesting, somewhat upsetting quote by Peter Moore if you're an offline player
Is it possible that they want people to play single player online careers because it is much faster and easier to address problems than a full patch?
They have already fixed a lot of the major problems in CC that bothered me (duplicate #'s, schemes not saving) online, so I might start up an online CC.
EDIT: I just realized the post above said essentially the same thing, so I second it!Comment

Okay, well at least it's a good start to see they are aware.
Fortunately gameplay has improved by leaps and bounds, but sadly the modes, or lack of, is deterring people from actually enjoying the game.
I would respect EA a lot more if they acknowledged their mistake and poor execution by including Franchise Mode this year or next for the people who don't enjoy C.C.'sI'm just an old guy sports gamer...Comment

Re: Interesting, somewhat upsetting quote by Peter Moore if you're an offline player
Moore is not talking about what is better for you, he is talking about what is better for his company. Server outages suck but they do happen and I am fine with it as long as it is not a consistent issue. And Noone is trying to force anyone to play online, unless we believe that offline ccm was intentionally buggy, which is ridiculous.

I mentioned my concern over EA's "mission" to make us play online in the "Does the Closed Nature of Connected Careers Turn You Off" thread...
If we're forced to play online (because sliders don't stick offline, etc.) then EA can boast bigger numbers of players on their servers for longer periods of time, which is a boon to their in game ad revenue...
Additionally, they can monitor stats of our individual and collective online habits to potentially profit from by parceling the info off to the highest bidder(s)...
I have a feeling that this is the beginning of a move to the eventual elimination of physical product. If they eliminate the cost of manufacture, shipping to distributors / stores / etc. while continuing to charge a similar price, the bottom line goes WAAAAY up...
It's like when the music business phased out the CD for online MP3 distribution...
Interestingly, in that case, the move was an unmitigated disaster that has led to rampant file sharing that has devastated that industry...
I guess, since you have to play these games on their servers, the piracy issue isn't going to factor in?
Good luck with that!
As far as "change" goes, once again I liken it to the evolution / de-evolution of the method of distribution of music...
People hated to see vinyl go, until they decided having 70 minutes of music on a smaller more durable, portable CD was "better"...then they decided that having thousands of MP3's on a device the size of a lipstick tube was even better still...
The method of delivery became more convenient and profitable while the quality of the actual sound took a huge step back every step of the way...
In this analogy, I think we may be at the end of the "CD" era and are locked into a future based on the gaming equivalent of MP3's...
As far as the reason it's "cool" to bash EA?
Well, because it's easy and deserved...
I don't recall seeing anything like that being directed at the companies that develop MLB The Show or the NBA2k series...
Why?
Because they consistently deliver a much more complete product WITHOUT the attitude...
For the record, I too have ZERO interest in playing my single player "franchise" on their dodgy servers...for both practical and ethical reasons...
Your move, EA...

But again - People keep forgetting there are gamers out there without constant internet access and Xbox Live. And frankly online servers are too shady right now to make me want to get into a really good game and then have it crash in the 4th quarter because I had to be online playing.Last edited by baumy300; 08-29-2012, 12:07 PM.I post the frog

Re: Interesting, somewhat upsetting quote by Peter Moore if you're an offline player
i thought the whole reason they combined all 3 modes together was because they could update all 3 modes @ once now there saying offline CC has wait for patch?? and online CC gets all fixed via the net? how is that even possiable if all 3 are combined and all 3 are "tech" online now?Comment

Re: Interesting, somewhat upsetting quote by Peter Moore if you're an offline player
This is just what EA is going to do. Go more and more to the online crowd, just the same way all of the shooters games have gone with pay for maps. You can play the basic game in about 5 hrs. Yes you can play the basic maps online for a short while..but most people "upgrade" with newer maps, and you find yourself looking for a game with no players. And just like the shooters...it want be long before you will have to pay extra to play online. You will have to pay for the updated rosters...true you will be able to play the first couple of weeks, but once the rosters are updated - you pay to play..this is why no roster edits.
Then most likely they will find a way to make you pay for a slider set for online use, then maybe playbooks....all the things that are being left out will be extra in a few years.Comment

[QUOTE=baumy300;2044080080]Well, if Moore wants what's best for his company, he should want what's best for his consumers. His company doesn't exist if the people buying his game are unhappy. Even a giant like EA can only upset so many people, like the offline crowd, before they lose them. Then only the online crowd will be left and you know damn well they will nickel and dime them to make up for their lost revenue. Also, you might not think EA is "forcing" you to play online, but it's more comparable to when the mob says "I think you might want to do this." When you know it actually means "You better do this or else..."
The interests of a company are often the complete opposite of consumer's. Ea is looking for profit, while consumers want quality and value. They are conflicting interests.
And you don't have to play online if you don't mind less xp or waiting for a patch.
Does anyone believe offline ccm was made to be buggy? If not, many arguments in this thread fall apart.

Re: Interesting, somewhat upsetting quote by Peter Moore if you're an offline player
Hate is a strong word, but I truly hate this guys business sense, and how he thinks online is the future... it's not for me at least. I have time to come home from work, play a few games of offline Madden and that's it. I could care less about being online etc. The only thing I need online for is my rosters, and my gameface.Comment

Re: Interesting, somewhat upsetting quote by Peter Moore if you're an offline player
It is called Activision/Blizzard... They are the Tom Bradys of corporate greed...
I really like the current mix in Madden. If it was even giving me a chance to check my roster situation and such while at work for my CCM I would be stoked... Albeit not getting any real work done.Comment

Re: Interesting, somewhat upsetting quote by Peter Moore if you're an offline player
If Madden is moving inexorably toward online gameplay, that's fine. All I ask of Mr. Moore is that he and his company provide reliable servers that won't disconnect in the fourth quarter of a game, rendering that game a complete loss because the system won't count its stats, etc.
Sounds like a fair deal, but I don't think EA can do it. I guess we'll wait and see.Comment

Re: Interesting, somewhat upsetting quote by Peter Moore if you're an offline player
theres no excuse aside from laziness!! if 2k can make a great AI for their football game and have 1/2 the resources EA does to do so, thats telling you something!I am glad I got the Buell- I love riding it, I love the oddball looks I get on the road- I love people asking "What IS that thing?" I love flying into a corner WAY too hot, scared spitless and sure I'll never hold it at this speed- and hearing the bike whisper "Sissy!"...Comment
