Re: Reasonable expectations for first patch of Madden 13

The cpu teams have never had proper roster management in any madden game since franchise was introduced. It would be nice eventually though. Referring how some teams have 10 DTs and some have two,or equally stupid amounts of a position. After my irst CCM season, as all second year madden seasons, i like to check the depth chart of the team im playing to see who they maybe signed or rookes, i forget who it was but they had one QB. yeah and it was the starter with the punter and kicker as the backups. Back in like madden 2001 ps1 edition i knocked a starting QB out of the game to have a puntercome in and torch my defense. LOL fun stuff considering i could destroy a high rated QB game in andame out. Old school though, aside from flakey roster management havent got beat by the crap sub on 13, yet.

      3) the really inefficient play calling by the CPU

Too often it's run, run, 3rd and 10, sack.
The cpu QB should robo throw incompletes as they are about to take sacks, people would love that ****.

The problem now is that the QB takes too many coverage sacks. We have went from one extreme to another.Seeing my outside LB come in unblocked and getting a free hit on the QB is great.

Seeing the QB run into my blocked RE is not.

lol good use of sarcasm but hey, to each his own. I found out a way to play it that way and for some odd reason, I smoke all my friends that way, but then again, they're forced to play that way lol

Re: Reasonable expectations for first patch of Madden 13

I've only played a handful of game but some things scream out to me already.

CPU needs to keep the punter in the game during preseason in CCM player mode. Come second half my kicker is punting it and he can't even punt it ten yards and I can't change the play.

              Player editing PLEASE!!!

Variety in the replay department is sorely needed. Some tackles in this game are amazing yet the replay just shows the catch and a tiny bit of the run in slow mo every time on pass plays then cuts out during or just before the tackle.
Plus there needs to be more normal speed replays, nothings worst than seeing the same type of replays in slow mo cause they're the most time consuming. Full speed replays should be common and slow mo should be used sparingly...

Farfetched: the biggest addition I want BACK into this game is offline coop franchise. Seriously, they dropped the ball big time on that one.

Bug: Fixing the clock errors in Connected Careers.
Description: in player v. player games in connected careers mode, the accelerated clock does not work. It causes games to be two and three times as long as they should be.

I don't think that player editing will be added back, seemed like a pretty major decision related to how CCM works, but what do I know. I'd love to add things like "CPU play calling" or "CPU 2 minute ability," but it's generally been a problem with Madden for years, so I'm not going to expect it in a patch. The playcalling and decision making, especially within the last 2 minutes while down, is just suspect and bizarre. Down by 3, on my 20 yard line, with zero time outs and 8 seconds left (needing a field goal to tie), the CPU ran a draw ... that ended the game. I just didn't understand it.

Haha, yeah the old days. I do take it for granted that those issues aren't around anymore. I remember in NCAA of old, you'd injure the starting QB and then like a WR would come in at QB and just torch you being unstoppable. Something EA deserves credit for is making bad QBs generally playing bad, it's improved the game whole sale.

I'd like to see defenders drop fewer interceptions, especially wide-open ones. I'd say around 65% of blatantly open picks are dropped. Its frustrating when cheesers get away with their reckless playstyle because of this.

                    Commentary notes
I would also appreciate if Jim Nantz would stop telling me my play clock is getting low every time my play clock is getting low. This is the sole reason why I turn off the commentary.
They don't need to have Phil Simms judge every punt return on whether it was good or bad. This is the ideal way they should handle it
Jim Nantz- Jeremy Kerly runs to the twenty nine yard line
                    Phil Simms- Nothing

I don't care if it sounds robotic, if Jim Nantz references a team going on a 3 game winning streak. Can he specifically reference which team has the 3 game winning streak?

Oh yeah, that reminds me. CAN JIM NANTZ AND PHIL SIMMS BE MORE SPECIFIC!!!

Re: Reasonable expectations for first patch of Madden 13

My expectations are low with the first patch.

The first patch is usually issues that EA noticed after the game went gold.

Stability issues, maybe a game play issue or two, and maybe a few CCM fixes.

The second patch, which normally is out in October, will be the patch that will fix some of the current issues users are discovering and probably whether or not editing is put back in.

Don't go in with high expectations with the first patch, you are setting yourself up for a lot of kicking and screaming.

Yeah, I wouldn't expect any major fixes or additions with the first patch. Unless something was wrongly turned off (NCAA 11 dirty uniforms) and can easily be turned back on...

One of the major issues with the running game is that the guards don't really block at all on pitch or toss plays, rendering them useless for both the player and CPU. Having seen toss and pitch plays better executed in prior versions of Madden, I'm hopeful this issue can be fixed in the October patch.

One thing to add would be assist tackles and 1/2 sacks.

There are so many backs running for 1,000 and receivers with 1,000 yards because they never miss any games.

Yep History has taught us that

I really hope all that talk about CC making it easier on the devs is legit and these issues are taken care of quickly by EA standards. I want all the kinks worked out by the new year.....

So when they go to build 14 they don't have any problems adding back in what we lost and then some

                                Lame comment.

You know nobody wants that. The CPU takes too many coverage sacks that's all. In my season Mario Williams has 19 sacks and Anderson has 10, it's week 10.

And it'd be worse if I didn't move Mario off LE too. I have CPU pass blocking up so high, but the CPU just won't pass the ball.
