    Infinity Engine= Augmented animation engine.

Lets just call it what it really is.

Don't the devs actually refer to it as that basically? They have said that it adds a layer of augmentation to the current animation engine or something to that effect.

To a degree, yea they do. But dont have Trey Wingo say "real time physics". Don't put "real time physics" all over the box and commercials. Yea, we know what it is because we visit forums like this. Millions of other gamers don't and they believe the IE produces real time physics. It does not.

I would love to know how much Trey Wingo and that other guy, the former football player in those videos got paid by EA...I say maybe six figures each? to promote M13...

I would rather have a real time physics engine like Euphoria, with an animation engine to accompany it.

The folks at Tiburon were shown the perfect tech demo for Madden with BackBreaker.....combine the best of BackBreaker with the graphics, attention to detail, presentation and franchise and Madden 13 would have been perfect (even BB camera and passing system would make madden better...BB suffered from being too generic all around in other areas that madden reigns in). But like they say, it's not a good idea unless it's their idea.

                  This is standard with EA.

The focus is always more on the name of the feature than it's implementation. It's more important to say you have physics than it is to make sure the physics work well. So they'll throw in a buzzwords like infinity engine, real time physics...and who cares how it works people will buy off of that.

And I'm not saying this to complain. the physics in Madden are far from perfect but they've had a net positive impact on the game.

Idk if its a net positive for me. Some of the things i see just look terribly unrealistic and it ruins any sense of immersion for me.

At least this features adds some amusement to the game and not just more negatives. Part of the gameplay does feel better on the surface with the IE engine, but I still notice the same old tackle animations and the running can be a pain at some times. Sure you don't get stuck behind a guy like you do in NCAA, but at times it feels like you almost forced to because of how many bodies pile up on inside runs.

It has potential, but when I see guys arms bend around their backs when they get wrapped up, or when QBs scramble and their arm hits a helmet and it flops behind them it really odd and comical at the same time.

To me, the actual "physics" or ragdoll effects are used on the wrong part of the game. Guys legs bending back on tackles, body parts flying around after a play, nothing much actually impacts the play other than what a user might perceive a player is undergoing.

I guess my biggest issue is guys don't react to anything the IE throws at them. If the hole closes up they still run at it with the same body position, where as realistically you'd think they would shift their position and try to fit threw it. Same thing happens when you run into your own OL. I would think you would at least bounce off, but it seem you get hooked on them and can't get away till you flop on the ground.

I returned the game 3 days because I just couldnt take complaining about it anymore...it frustrated me to no end with all the reasons I have mentioned in this post (and some others) I actually feel a strange sense of freedom and relief now...lol.

Since I bought it used from Crapstop, I had 7 days to return it for a full refund or trade in. SO I opted for NCAA 13 to continue with my football fix this year. While the animations and gameplay feel much tighter in this NCAA, it has its own host of issues with the older scripted animation engine and a very 'on rails' feeling to its gameplay. Lacks the dynamic feel that Madden 13 actually has (one of Maddens few positive virtues) So basically, I can see myself trading THIS one in too before the 7 days are up and perhaps now completely going to something else like NBA 2K13 or NHL 13 and just getting my football fix for the rest of the season with one of the older Madden games like 09 or 10.

Good Luck all and I hope you get one Helluva patch to fix the game!

I may give this game another shot after the patch drops...does anyone know if the actual game's physics will be tightened and tweaked a bit too to look a bit more realistic?....I know the there is a long patch list of fixes on there but i didnt see anything at all mentioning the physics engine at all....unless that kind of stuff gets 'silent treatment' tweaking to avoid publicity?

i hope so man. didnt they say that the tuners were so they could make twweaks to the IE on the fly? they havnt done much for the physics yet.

I said this about the tackeling when the demo came out. I really don't want to see people cry about it, everyone jumped on the bandwagon instead of doing what they should have done (as apart of this community) now it's a little too late. Hopefully '14 is better.

Second patch they tightened up the after tackle physics.

I do wonder if they will do anything with the next patch.
