.... it already has.... the scary part is that this is just opening day... imagine the cheese three months from now....
Just had a very similar experience in MUT... Dude had Aaron Rodgers and spammed it to death...

In addition, apparently corners have the world's strongest stick-em on their hands and rocket packs on their shoes. When this same dude was on defense he had no problem intercepting every pass I attempted with Tom Brady. Did not matter how out of position he was, how much separation I got, or what timing window I threw at, he picked off everything...

I think I am done trying to play this game competitively online already...

This is a reason why I'm not doing Online CFM this year. Stopping slants and hitches is hard enough, now this. I had a feeling EA would overdue it.

I don't plan on running any this year. I watched a video on YouTube about it. I think any level above all pro shouldn't show the marker of who to read once on the field.

Again why do people continue to dumb themselves down to get somewhat sim play in this game. I don't have to do that in any other sports game I play and I refuse to do it on Madden which is why I only play online.

Telling them to key in on the QB does nothing. Seriously. I run the read option at least 6 times a game with Romo and he never gets hurt and never fumbles.

Have succesfully stopped the read option by simply controlling a linebacker instead of a lineman, and just taking my backer and going after whoever the lineman doesn't. If the DE goes for the QB, I stay with the RB and smash him as soon as he gets the ball, if the DE goes for the RB, then I stay with the quarterback and wait for the hit if he keeps the ball. This isn't the worst thing in the world, and I actually really enjoy both running and defending the read option. Of course you can get sucked in on a play action pass, but it happens, that's what keeps the defense guessing.

Telling them to key in on the QB make the DE stay home to contain the QB, so it does do something. It doesn't mean they'll injure the QB & cause a fumble.

Re: Is option run going to ruin 25?

I said earlier in this thread I don't want them to touch the read option. At the time I was 17-0 online or something like that and had shut down a couple players' option. Last night I ran into Rg3 and Tannehill and I have to admit it wasn't pretty.

There is also a glitch or some sort during the read option where I lose control or can't control anyone on defense after switching on to the downfield.

Between the read option and overpowering run blocking my Dline (Suh & company were getting pushed around like college walk-ons.

The great thing about playing online cheese spammers it allows you to practice/experiment against a certain play. I discovered the 5-2 defended the option the best. I sub packaged LBs at DE and it seemed to do the trick.

Re: Is option run going to ruin 25?

Defensively, I haven't come across it much in the first 24 hours of play. I supsect if it's an issue, I will use LB or DE spys, like I do in NCAA. Frankly, I have more problems with money slant routes over the middle.

Offensively, it's a lot of fun to run the play, but I feel like the game dummies it down to basically a 2-on-1 matchup between QB/RB and whatever defender is designated as "Pitch" or "Read". Everyone else seems to lock up into blocks and let you run around, provided you get that one read right.

Re: Is option run going to ruin 25?

I've played only one online game, and was devastated when the player chose the Redskins fearing I was about to get a crash course in how to stop the Read Option on my first game.

My goal was to try early to shut it down. He gained 15 yards on the first play. Then 5, and then I began shutting it down. Two straight plays of -2 yards, and he abandoned using that solely. He might have tried a read option 1 or 2 times per quarter after that, but really had a decent game overall. Took a bit of commitment and focus to stop, but it shouldn't be easy I guess.

Final score was 28-21 Colts over Redskins. I will add that after playing as the Colts I would fear the deep pass to speedy receivers, though I think that was more his poor defensive play calling than anything else. Heyward-Bey had two deep catches down the sideline with single tight coverage.

I easily stop the read-option, I usually get my opponent to quit attempting the read-option by the end of the first quarter, unfortunately that's when they start shredding me through the air.
