Re: how do YOU attack Ultimate Team?
I broke down and bought a pack today although only having a little over 8k in coins. The payout was worth it though as I pulled a Mike Evans LP Rising Star. Now I will use buy it now auctions to find a 2nd LP Mike Evans Rising Star and combine them for the elite card.

Re: how do YOU attack Ultimate Team?
Newbie MUT guy here. Chose Short Pass. Opened the preorder packs so far and got an elite tackle I sold for about 35k which is nice start to build the team. I am just a bit confused about the style bonuses. If the player fits your style, his card gets a bump? Where is the bump? Am I seeing this correct haha, any help would be appreciatedComment

Re: how do YOU attack Ultimate Team?
So if you aren't buying packs, it's pretty much impossible to complete sets right? And is there really any point in bothering with sets?
I've played a very little bit of this type of mode in the past, but I may actually try and get into it this year.PSN: LobsterKillahComment

Re: how do YOU attack Ultimate Team?
No you can complete sets by being a swift auctioneer. You need to invest some time into it, but it can be done. It also pays to gamble on completing one of the QUICKSELL sets.
The regular quicksell set will net you a card redeemed for coins in the range of 1,000 - 25,000. It costs 10 badges, 5 silver and 5 bronze.
The large quicksell set will net you a card ranging from 1,000 to 1,000,000.
I invested about 7k of my own coins to buy bronze/silver badges on auction. I got a quicksell card worth 15,000 so I made an 8k profit.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Re: how do YOU attack Ultimate Team?
I did two big quicksels and put like 70k worth of badges into them just to get 2k twice.
It's safe to say I won't be doing that again.Khalabeeb - Tony Henderson

Re: how do YOU attack Ultimate Team?
So, is the basic strategy to play solo challenges, rack up a bunch of coins then go to the auction and buy players you need/want?
Because I sure as hell am not getting anyone great in these damn packs!
Hell, I don't even know who I would want in an auction. Any advice there? How do you even know who to go for? Just by position?Comment

My first instinct was to buy packs with coins (no way I'm putting real money into this mode). After the first two packs, I decided that wasn't the way to go. The first couple get you a decent lineup to start with, but after that it seems very difficult to get more than one card that's useful. So I changed my strategy.
I get coins by playing the market. If you spend just a little time looking at sets or browsing the market, it's easy to see where you can make money. When I started playing the market I was doing it with a very small amount of coins (maybe 3k). I'd look for players where most of the cards were selling for a certain price, but one or two were at a much lower Buy it Now (BiN) price. I'd buy those and immediately repost them at a price that was higher than I bought them for, but lower than the rest (particularly the BiN price). Some cards in sets are rare and the quality of the card doesn't always necessitate it's value. I've sold some bronze cards for 2k coins that I bought for 150 because the original owner didn't see if the card was valuable.
That's basically all I do besides play solo challenges to get coins. Overall I've made about 70k coins just playing the market. That's not much compared to what others have done, but it's been plenty for me to build a good team. My OVR is only 77 now, but when I started playing the market it was around 63.
In terms of building your team, buy cards that fit your team style. Mine is speed run, so my goal is always to improve positions on my roster with players that have a higher OVR (though that doesn't always mean they're better) with the speed run attribute. While I'm doing that I'm still playing the market to get the best value. When I'm looking for players, I try to narrow my search as much as I can. A search for "LG, 80-84 OVR, Speed Run" will net you better prices than just looking for Gold players. Usually I'm using BiN, but I'll also put in bids on players and then just keep searching. I don't like to get into bidding wars, but placing bids will sometimes net me a player an hour or two later. I got Sam Bradford for 300 coins on a bid like that.
Same thing goes for defense. I don't have a bonus for that, but I try building my defense around one specialty so that I can get a bonus eventually.
Hope that helps.Comment
