Same way for me with All Pro 2k8. It is still has my favorite pure football gameplay. But, the lack of depth outside of gameplay, makes it hard for me to stay playing consistently. I can still once in a while start a season and get a couple games in, but I have to use my imagination just to keep it interesting.

Yea. It's sad because on the actual field the gameplay is still the best and most authentic game of football ever produced. I just need more than on the field gameplay at this point, though.

It sucks, NCAA still has an okay dynasty, but the gameplay is too dated. Madden has updated gameplay, but the franchise mode is atrocious. All-Pro has the best gameplay ever in a football game, but no official franchise mode. I want to play football games, but too much time has passed since a game came out that was complete. 2k5 is nearly 20 years old and 2k8 is nearly 15 years old. Heck, NCAA 14 is almost 10 years old. It's crazy.

This, plus I have to connect another console to my tv plus download the rosters. And most of the rosters that are made skip rating the lineman.

I’ve done it when I’ve really had the itch to play but I need something new.

After hearing EA exclusive college simulation football coming back and if 2k is indeed a battle ground type of arcade game then 2k about to be bargain bin status (dead on arrival)

That's 2 simulation license football games vs one Arcade game you do the math.

Right, EA just dropped the proverbial "hammer" unless 2K is up to more than just acardey nonsense.

We'll hopefully find out soon and maybe, just 2K is more ambitious than we are giving the credit.

I agree and the timing couldn't have been worse for 2K. They should have jumped on Ncaa year's ago no they have to really appeal to casual gamers.

We will never know if the NCAA or collegiate schools were even interested in working with another developer/publisher, though. It is easy to speculate but a lot harder to get enough schools to the table, build a development team & market the hell out of a NCAA title (without the EA game's legacy and history).

I'm just hoping 2K does something ambitious with this - otherwise worthless agreement, IMHO - title or they'll be in big, big trouble long - term.

I don't think 2k had much interest in NCAA. They dropped out of college football after 2k3 and college hoops after 2k8. But, those were the times where 2k was dropping any title that wasn't profitable. They had the exclusive 3rd party MLB license and couldn't compete with a then Sony Exclusive The Show and just let the license expire. 2k put all their eggs in the NBA 2k basket. Now that NBA 2k is way more profitable, they are expanding on their sports titles again.

I think 2k was holding off for a NFL license for a football game. But, I could see them return to College Hoops since they have been including college teams lately. But, if they do want to return to college hoops, they better hop on it before EA snatches up another exclusive sim deal lol

At the same time, this college football title/announcement is definitely meant to deflate the excitement for whatever 2K has planned.

Smart move on EA's part and a bit shortsighted by Take - Two/2K to not jump on another try at collegiate football. That is if the NIL/NCAA or college teams were even interested in other video game partners.

I don't think NCAA really wanted to get back in it unless they had even more control. Wasn't it Axis or Maximum Football that said that NCAA didn't want any roster share.

I'd imagine we hear something soon from 2k. I would expect whatever they release to drop sometime July-August. Superbowl would have been a great time for 2k to drop some info(even just an official title) during the Superbowl. So it was smart for EA to drop this info if they felt 2k was dropping info soon. Today felt like a really random time for them to drop this info. Like how 2k dropped the news of their game randomly last year before the news of EA-NFL deal being extended.

You guys got to remember 2k is still drunk off of nba 2k success that kept the light bill on so the agression ain't showing yet I hope once they sober up they will get competitive again.

If not they gonna be braggy about throwing 5 touchdowns in one game like Al Bundy

NCAA doesn’t sell anywhere close to the numbers that the NFL games do. I bet anything 2k didn’t jump on it because without an NFL title to share the development costs it’s not worth making.

Without Madden, EA wouldn’t chase the NCAA license either.

I’m curious to know if EA/NCAA is an exclusive deal. If 2k is making an APF type game, it could do like EA and share tech to produce a cheap college title as well. Otherwise if this is some other type game this could be a blow to 2k. Shrinks their window to release without competing directly with an EA game.

Yeah, after this year (or next) their release window shrinks having to release before or in between two simulation titles.

Gonna be tough sledding even if NCAA sells less than NFL, especially when you have the less desirable and more difficult to market "non - simulation"/arcade license.

I think I saw an exclusive sim college license for EA. EA prefers exclusive deals that allows them to control the market.

Yeah, I think 2k was only interested in a license NFL game. Even APF showed, they most gamers want a licensed sports title. 2k is not in a position where can afford to make a game just for the love of it. EA can afford to do it due to the success of Madden and Fifa. As long as it somewhat profitable it is worth it for EA. But even in its peak, I think NCAA football was only selling 2-3 million copies. It's good for EA Sports since it'll be behind Fifa and Madden. But for a company like 2k, it isn't worth all the investment to sell under 3 million copies.

There isn't really a market for multiple college games. But I could see College Hoops.
