I would think if there is a correlation it is the other way around.

EA got wind of what 2k was doing so they searched out the return of a college football game under their brand ?

      Right ?

That's the way I see it yes. I don't believe this announcement has any influence on what 2K is doing as that direction was probably decided awhile ago.

Well the Super Bowl is over. We are into the off-season and no news from 2k yet. Next big opportunity for news when attention is on football will be the draft.

I’m thinking it was just coincidence EA made their college announcement late week now. Kind of odd they waited until several weeks after the college season ended with the game not releasing until at least 2022 but seems like they did that for their own reasons.

Tampering down my expectations a bit. Either the game is still a ways off or it’s not as big of a project as I was hoping imo

Take Two also had their earnings call and said nothing.

Yup it’s time for me to hop off the hype train until I hear something definite. I honestly just want to know what encompasses “non-sim NFL games”.

I’m starting to get Joe Montana football vibes where this will end up being some kind of mobile card game.

That would be the absolute worst outcome and a pure money grab, so it is definitely possible to some degree.

I'll give them some benefit of the doubt and wait to either be happy or disappointed once something is shown.

When it said they were releasing multiple games, I fully expected a Mobile card game to be one of them. It'll be in the same vein as WWE Supercard and NBA Supercard. NbA Supercard is the same as it was on the MyNBA2k app, it just became an individual app on its own. Which wasn't appealing to me. One it made The MYNBA2K app useless since it rendered poor scans and not needed anymore after you have a scan you liked. The Supercard app would have been appealing if I could earn VC on the app.

I would be more surprised if we didn't get a NFL Supercard app lol. I'm just hoping we get a console game that is enjoyable

I feel like people are misinterpreting the multiple games part. All that sounds like to me is they planned on releasing it annually. I never read it like they were going to put out multiple different football games in one year.

From the announcement of the NFL/2k license deal...

“Various games are in “early development,” 2K said, with plans to release them “starting in 2021.” The publisher specified in the news release that the rollout is scheduled to begin sometime during Take-Two Interactive’s 2022 fiscal year, which means that the earliest possible release window is April 2021. “

Unless they were misquoted they said they had multiple games in early development. Could be one game this year and one next, but it wouldn’t be the same title. Not going to work on NFL playgrounds and NFL playgrounds 2 at the same time. At least that doesn’t make any sense to me

I could easily be wrong. That is worded to insinuate multiple released in one year.

My game development skills are purely nonexistent so I could be very wrong with this assumption, but I can't imagine that a SuperCard app would be hard to build. Assuming that's one of the games in development, I don't think it would be totally unrealistic that we can get multiple games released in one year.

They would get ripped to shreds if their first football game was a mobile card game app though.

I always shake my head hearing about "card game." Maybe if it was a real card game, that would be cool. A virtual one, though? Sounds like the dumbest thing ever.

I'm not saying it can't be successful or profitable, but I hope this isn't why they nabbed the NFL and NFLPA license. Let an indie company do that kind of stuff, heh. We don't have 2K's lead gameplay and AI programmers working on that, I hope.
