I was really hoping NFL2k would be backwards compatible with the XBOX series X

How awesome would it be to be able to play NFL2k5 series on the XBOX series X and be able to download current rosters season after season?

I found a site where you can search titles to see if certain games are backwards compatible. The earlier Madden games are but not 2k.

There was never any reason to expect this, nothing has changed with backward compatibility on the platform other than the new consoles adding more juice to compatible titles.

Titles from 360 and original Xbox require Microsoft to re-write some of their code to work. That requires new approvals from any IP in the game.

Sports games are among the least likely to get BC because a deal would have to be struck with a group of IP holders for a game that really benefits no one financially enough to warrant the effort.

It’s a bummer, but this has been true since the beginning.

I don't have an xbox series x yet due to scalpers, but if I eventually got one, I was hoping 2k5 would be backwards compatible just do that I could get rid my 360. I ONLY have a 360, just to play 2k5.

You need a 360 to play NFL2K5 or APF2K8. That will never change. There were no 2K football games during the last generation.

Yes and no. So no it won't play your old 2K5 disc collecting dust all these years, but an emulator allows you to play that or any old games on the Series X/S through developer mode. That's what Ryan Moody was saying when he was sent a video of it.
