Re: So I changed the name of Calvary to Cowboys in season mode
I've taken a break from editing, the stuff I really wanted to do was change the default teams to real teams of the past. That undertaking will take some time so I am trying to save up some energy and time for that task.Comment

You can what you would have to do is make that player a created player by using the code I posted in the picture. You can make all the players in the game an editable created player. Once you are done editing him, give him back his original code and he should be back in the game fine without a problem.

Also if you make a generic editable and you select him to your team, can you switch him back to being a generic player without using one of your slots?Last edited by Rocky; 12-04-2010, 02:41 PM."Maybe I can't win. At the moment I am not sure what 0A, 01 or what 06 stands for. There are soo many elements to change and adjust I have not really been taking my time with all the little aspects.Comment

Change it back to whatever it was to begin with. Most of the time it is 04 0A, however that is not always the case, sometimes it is 04 01. Just remember what it was and change it back when you are done with him.

On the flip side, I think I got the game to read my created Julius Peppers as a generic player now."Maybe I can't win. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. Re: So I changed the name of Calvary to Cowboys in season mode
Yeah you have to be careful with some of the names.
The easiest way to tell if one of your player names is causing the game to freeze:
the game will freeze the first time that player steps onto the field.
So say you have an offensive player causing the freeze, the game will be fine while you are on special teams and defense.
But the moment you step up to the line for that first offensive play, the freeze occurs.Comment

But it seems there are two ways to skin this cat. Create players and make them generic, but keep the abilities and ratings. The only thing I fear with that is that there is not enough memory to create that many players.
The more practical solution is to make generic players editable but I can't get that the work without the game freezing."Maybe I can't win. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that."Comment

Wow I thought that would work since I edited legends in game by making them created players. I found editing them that way is soo much easier than doing it with HEX codes.Comment

So is there room for more than 20 created players?Comment

Re: So I changed the name of Calvary to Cowboys in season mode
I don't know. There is lots of empty space in the roster file. However how much of that space is devoted to players I have not checked, I doubt it is enough to make a full NFL if that was your goal.Comment

Re: So I changed the name of Calvary to Cowboys in season mode
. Not sure why it froze the first time.
Which brings me to my second problem. When I created my gold Julius Peppers and switched him to generic, there was still an empty gold slot at the player select screen (presumably for him). When I filled that slot with a random legend, my created Peppers disappeared. It seems that you can only have 11 players with abilities and if you switch a generic player to a tiered player and back, you will lose that player."Maybe I can't win. Re: So I changed the name of Calvary to Cowboys in season mode
Just wanted to have 8 teams with 88 created players that I could use in the quick game area. I would change the legends if it didn't also happen to change them on their premade teams.Comment

Is there going to be a tutorial on how to do this?Comment

Re: So I changed the name of Calvary to Cowboys in season mode
The abilities work on the generics without them being tiered. As far as the 06 and 0A thing. I found that when it's 06 and you edit a generic, if they are already on a team nothing changes but the name, but if it's 0A, editing them while on a team will change everything you edited, without having to go thru the process of getting them back on the team.
Some abilities:
DEFENSIVE END
STAMINA - 04 in COLUMN 02
SPEED AND STRENGTH - OA in COLUMN 02
LEADERSHIP - 02 IN 0D column
Sack Master - 40 in column 0E
Pass Rush bonus - 04 in coloumn 0F
Speed burner - 08 in column 02
Some generics and there offset:
Curtis Little #96 - DE Pass Rush - 000632C0
Howard Flemons #93 - DE Balanced - 000637F0
Doug Garner #95 - DE Run Support - 00063D20
Joey George #94 - DE Pass Rush - 00064250
Victor Jones #96 - DE Balanced - 00064780
Marcellus Odom #93 - DE Run Support - 00064CB0Last edited by AVONFTW; 12-04-2010, 06:28 PM.Comment

Re: So I changed the name of Calvary to Cowboys in season mode
One of catcatch's post on page 13 is pretty helpful. I'm currently working a database for created player abilities and location of the abilities. It's taking a long time because I have a lot of senior design stuff to do. If you plan changing abilities and things like that, download Hex Workshop. The bookmark feature is awesome and it'll help you keep track of where everyone and everything is.Comment
