Why a .ros file? You'll need the older version of the editor since that's the one that works with PS3 files (v.0.1.7.0). Javo re-released it over on his site.

The editor will read the USERDATA file. I think .ros is for 360.

Re: Interest in adding PS3 to Editor?

So I was able to get Bruteforce to decrypt the USERDATA file but like other people have reported before, I can't get it to load into APF 2K8 Editor 0.1.7.0 running Windows 8.1. I'm getting the following error:

File is Corrupt. The College Name section is not complete or has inconsistencies.

This was a clean USERDATA file saved after I created 1 team and the ps3 drafted and filled the rest of the team.

      Help!

Thanks, I figured that out! I thought it required a *.ros file because opening a file in the editor defaults to looking for a *.ROS file...I changed the file open dialog to look for *.* and was able to try opening the decrypted USERDATA...but had the problems I described above...

Hmm, are you sure you decrypted with bruteforce correctly?

Do you have any other PC's to try it on?

This was a common error if you look back in the thread. Most of the errors were caused because of the newer versions of the editor. 0.1.7.0 seems to work fine with PS3. If you want you can send me the file to see if it works on my PC just to pinpoint what the problem is.

That's a great question about Bruteforce so I tested the USERDATA.zip posted on the 1st page of this thread and I was able to load it into the editor

I think Bruteforce is the problem...it says it's decrypted the USERDATA file but is not writing the decrypted version anywhere I can find. Does it write a new decrypted file or just change the original file after successful a decrypt? An odd thing is that the time stamp of the original USERDATA file doesn't change after Bruteforce tells me it has successfully decrypted it. Shouldn't the time stamp be updated after the decrypt?

            I'm getting closer...Thanks!

Yeah that might be it. What version are you running? I have Bruteforce 4.7.4, works great.

Bruteforce modifies the original USERDATA so that last modified date should change if you're doing it correctly.

Also running 4.7.4. For some reason, the Bruteforce decrypt appears successful (the bottom left corner background goes green and the bottom window message shows "1 Decrypted") but the USERDATA file shows no change to the modified date and won't load into the editor without error. I've checked the file properties and there's no "read only" or anything else checked that should keep this from working...I'm sure it's still in original crypted form.

Just got it to work! The trick was to begin Bruteforce with a right click and tell it to "Run as Administrator". Once I did that, the decrypt changed the modify date on USERDATA and I'm now able to load it into the editor! Now all I have to do, is make the player & team name changes, re-encrypt, and get it back into the PS3. Any tricks I should know about? Thanks

Can you upload your full save? not just the userdata, the whole BLUSxxxx folder. Thanks

Ha, you read my mind. I was going to ask you to try that next. Glad it worked.

If you never used the editor before, make sure to take a look at Javo's videos. He's walks you through the editor and it's features. And if you have any bugs to report or need more help make sure to post at his site. He's banned here so that's the only place you can reach him.

Re: Interest in adding PS3 to Editor?

Thanks for letting me now about where to get editor help.

I wanted to test something simple so I made a name change to 1 player on my team just to test the editor. Then Bruteforce encrypted it back...loaded the whole PS3/SAVEDATA/BLUS30049-ROS directory back on the USB stick and went back to the PS3. Did the whole copy select all "Roster & Roster Data" copy back from USB to the PS3 with no problem. Everything looks good until I start the game where it hangs on the "Loading Roster..." message.

Did I miss something between editing the file and moving it back to the USB? Is encrypt in Bruteforce the only thing I need to do to prep the files to go back to the PS3?

                      Thanks!

Re: Interest in adding PS3 to Editor?

All you did was change a players name?

The only time I got my game to freeze was when I forgot to give one of my star players a legends face.

Did you edit this player in online or offline mode? offline mode has some issues that Javo is trying to work out. Try changing a player in online mode (you can't freely edit names in online but you can choose from a bank of names to get a similar names) and see if that works.

Make your edits, save the file in the editor. If you still had bruteforce open while editing I like to click on refresh in bruteforce to reload the save(s). Then I choose the APF save, click on Encrypt PFD, Encrypt all and then I load it back onto my ps3 and it's good to go.

Wow...I wish my situation was working as smoothly as yours. I changed the player name in the offline editor and the game load just hung. Did some research and concluded I needed to "resign" the data file to my console with my 16 digit profile id...spent a couple hours figuring out how to do that. Now, things are worse off than when I started...when I download a clean USERDATA from the PS3 and decrypt, the editor is showing garbage characters for the player names...no idea why.

Besides, the whole point of this exercise was so I could create rosters of players with their actual names, not the approximations restricted by the online editors available names. Oh well, seem's like the editor's just not ready for what I want to do yet

                          Thanks for all your help!

Resigning is a 360 thing. Bruteforce does "resigning" on PS3, it's just called encrypting/decrypting. Have you tried editing a clean file in online mode? Just to see if it works.

Also, another user claims that if you clear a players history in the editor you won't encounter the scrambled names. So keep that in mind if you can get it to work.

Re: Interest in adding PS3 to Editor?

Decided to spend a few minutes this morning checking out some other stuff to try and get more solid info on the problem.

                                1) When the APF2K8 editor saves a file after edit the popup specifically says, "Save complete. File still needs to be Re-signed in order to work in the game." I know you said that's just an xbox thing but I also found a website that says you must re-sign user save files for PS3 and gives very specific instructions for how to do so (http://wonderpierrot.blogspot.com/20...ame-saves.html).

                                2) So I made a fresh download from PS3 to my USB stick and loaded my file to the editor in "offline" mode...all the player names were present and looked fine. I changed a couple players names then saved and encrypted through Bruteforce. Decided to alter another player before sending back to PS3 so decrypted again and reloaded to the editor. All the names were garbage again (even though I specifically set history to "None" for the new players as you suggested).

                                3) Tried the same as #2 above but all editor loads in "online" mode. Everything worked as expected...with no garbage player names and the changes I made still present.

                                4) Was able to repeat the "offline" mode garbage name error with the file altered in #3. I decrypted and this time reloaded in "offline" mode. Garbage names. This is why I can't use the editor for my purposes at this time. I don't play online and I have to be able to use "offline" editor mode so I'm not restricted on player names. Super disappointed but I just can't use it at this time...perhaps I'll give it another shot when the offline mode errors are corrected
