How do I get around 120 plays each game?

What quarter length do some of you use along with game speed to get 120 plays per game?

I'm trying to find a good setting. Keep in mind I play CPU vs CPU games only so I can see how the players do based on their ratings and the matchups.

If you're just observing cpu/cpu, then probably around 7. If you play....around 8.

The thing is...when I just observe the players take extra time in the huddle and don't rush to the line..they walk.

120? what would that be like 60 passes and 40 runs? Thats not really realistic is it?

He means 120 total plays combined from both teams. And yes, that's realistic.


I use 7 minute quarters, but I use Coach's Pick exclusively so i'm calling my plays very, very quick. I'd use 8 minute quarters if you call your own plays.

Well, then do 5 minute quarters.... see what you got..... and derive from there. Pretty simple.

I just played 2 games in CPU vs CPU spectator mode. Coaches called all the played automatically.

Played 1 game at 8 min quarters and got 104 total plays combined.
Played 1 game at 9 min quarters and got 123 total plays combined.

Looks like 9 min quarters is the way to go. I also use slow for game speed...i love it.

I enjoy NFL Head Coach 09 more than any other sports game to date other than 2k5. I like watching the players attune to their ratings and play out the game without my intervention.

It's sim football to me.

What roster are you using?

Using GR18's but I made modifications and put some work into it. I used all of Madden 10's ratings and made the changes into the 2k5 rosters based on those ratings. For instance, GR18 had Revis at a 88 I believe and he's a 93, Brees was a 91 I believe and I changed him to a 99 which is where he should be. Etc, etc.

Because I like to play sim football as well? By using the QB or the other players themselves instead of letting the AI do it, you are taking some of the attributes out of the picture.

Like Pass Read Coverage for a QB. If you control the QB, that rating is useless...if you let the AI control him then it's in full effect.

That is why. More realistic.
