Re: What happened to the injury reports during games??

Personally, I don't mind going to the pause screen to see. I almost chalk it up to:

      Coach: "What's wrong with him?"
      Trainer: "He twisted his knee"
Coach: "Can I get him back this game?"
      Trainer: "No, he's out".
Coach: "Damn. Ok, on to plan B".

This happens every week. Coaches don't have a magic crystal ball that tells them if their star receiver will be out for 6 days, 14 hours, 27 minutes, and 8 seconds with a strained quadracep. They have to speak to a trainer, who generalizes it (that's why everything is probable, doubtful, etc...just like in the injury report you read). Then, the following day (when you finish your game and get back to HQ) you have an email with a more specific week number.

I like it, although an injury report would have been more "broadcast like".

            I agree, I miss it...

....but allow me to speculate....which is what I do as I rarely have any facts.

Suppose that LISTING an injury in text format was ok for the NFL but at some point describing it verbally and discussing the length and severity of injury IN-game....was too much for their (or the NFLPA's) liking.

It's almost bad "karma" (if you will) to discuss such injuries.

I know they SHOW the guy going down and whatnot but describing it is different.

Again just a guess, but anything is possible when getting union approval.

Wesphall was too slow in getting those reports so ESPN canned her. I mean, half the time she would give the report after the guy was back in and playing.

It took so long who didn't just click pause and go look as soon as it happened anyway? It was nice for the atmospher bur pretty useless overall.
