Re: My opinion on why alot of Madden fans wont convert or even try 2K.

    my story now hehehe.

I dont force anything up on anyone. I'm all about letting people decide for themselves now. I have been a 2k fans since the dreamcast days for a reason. When my older brother was in his teams back in the genesis days, i have always tried to get into madden so that we could have a good time. But madden just didnt do it for me at all. I guess the speed of the game really killed it for me. I would still go back to the NES to play tecmo football.

I was recently playing xboxlive and had setup a game. Some guy joied it and we started playing. Most of the people i have played are renting the game and have told me they wanted to try something new. This guy was on defense and he started crying about how he couldnt do hotroutes and motions. So i paused the game and told him that i didnt want to hear his crying thru the whole game. So he took it easy and told me what i help him. I was like yea. I showed him how to control motions, routes, defensive lines and all that good stuff.

After the first quarter i had used up al my time outs to team him the game. He then started talking baout how he likes madden but that he really appreciated what i did for him in taking my time to explain the game to him.(Im gonna rap this up soon ) He told me that he tried getting into the 2k3 but that he never met someone that helped him get into the game without being a total jerk about it.

This goes to show you how some "loyalist" of the series would down people just because they were trying the game for the first time. I'm like my name says a sega_loyal_fan but i also dont go around and try to convert anyone, because i know some people dont wanna hear the reasons why im not playing the "other games". Just like someone else mentioned that they had to teach them the ropes for them to actually appreciate the game for what it is.

PS: I know this was long and repetitive but you have to deal with me now.

    Have fun first!!!

I actually haven't haven't really run into the comeback AI. I've shut opponents out and held several to under 10pts. Same in ESPN. I just started a Franchise(1st Person All-Pro)ght with my beloved Steelers and week 1 beat Bal 7-0 in a defensive struggle and shutout KC too 28-0. In the KC game I sacked Green 5 times, picked him off 3 times, and forced 2 fumbles recovering both. What's got me hooked into ESPN is the 1st Person mode. It's the only way I play it now.

nah, fellas. i'm not hating ANYONE in here. just tired of the whole MADEEN vs 2k4 debate. it's cool to say one game does something better than the other, but who are ppl to say this game is better than the other, and is real football. if the passing is to easy, use sliders. how is that one game plays better football than the other. the fundations of both games are pretty much the same.

and the comeback logic in MADDEN is now history for me. why? because I PRACTICE DEFENSE!! just as much as i work on my offensive plays. i study the defensive playbook to see which plays would work better within certain situations...
I am glad I got the Buell- I love riding it, I love the oddball looks I get on the road- I love people asking "What IS that thing?" I love flying into a corner WAY too hot, scared spitless and sure I'll never hold it at this speed- and hearing the bike whisper "Sissy!"...

I dont think it has to do with ppl spamming the game. It has to do with how open minded a person is. If the hardcore Madden gamer is open minded, then he'll give it a fair shot. And ethier like it or not. But all ppl are'nt open minded and 9 times ot of ten when they first play ESPS, or any 2K for that matter, they'd be so stuck in thier Maddedn ways that Segas game wont be enjoyable because you cant do the same things that you do in Madden in ESPN.

When a Madden fan plays his first game of 2K he'll instantly hate it because the running feels funny, or he cant complete a pass, or he cant run to the outside, or his RB cant break any tackles. But you need to explain to them that this game is'nt madden and you just cant spin and juke your way to a fisrt down. And passing, you cant drop back 15 yds and expect to throw a perfect bullet, or your DB cant jump 5 feet in the air and swat a pass. Or 3rd and 4th and inches cant be converted with ease.

Once they get pass those facts, then they're set. But its not that easy to convince them. You gotta hook them up with every thing you know. What botton does what, what the Bear defense is, to watch your QB drop back and then pass at the correct time, to read your recievers correctly, to play with a LB and see that its actually fun and intersting, to tap to run fast and hold to charge (one of the biggest things to get use to). And at the same time, show them the bueaty of the DLine, Oline animations.

And last but not least, let them win. They dont know how to play the game. We all know it takes maybe 3 games to fully get the hang of it. So let them get all the first downs and broken tackles as they want. Dont blow em out, because then it will make they're experience frustrating to play and to learn. So be easy on em.

I've converted 2 of my guys by showing them the ropes of this game. I tell them te games flaws also just out of politeness. I dont wanna sell it to them and they end up complaining about it. I also did a thorough Madden comparison while playing. Dont be afraid to diss Madden. (No OSers are around to flame you) If you mention things you dont like about Madden, chances are they will agree with you and have the same feelings as you do.

And dont flame me because I'm tryna spread the wealth. Only reason why I'm tryna convert everyone I know is so we can have ESPN tournaments instead of ol fashioned, high scoring Madden tourneys. Once they sit down and feel the excitment, anticipation, and nail bitting moments of a tight scoring, defensive, 0-0 game going into the 4th, then your job is done.

That basically sums up what I've been trying to do to get my friends to like ESPN. I tried with NFL2k3, but failed because I inadvertandly rocked my opponents. I cannot do that in ESPN however, and I can't quite figure out why. A lot of my games against my friends are much closer, thus they take more time to try the game since they always have a chance to win. I'm losing many of my games now, and actually been blown out by my friends one or two times (one of those being on the wrong end of a Falcons 49, Chiefs 7 thrashing- Michael Vick is just as dangerous, not more so like in Madden, on this game as he is in real life!) It's interesting that I can like a game so much, yet be so bad at it. Meanwhile my friends (well, at least one of them) is getting more fond of it. The other one continues to be a so-called "Maddenite."

Maybe the fact that I usually use Dallas has something to do with it...
