Alot Of Questions Answered By Ratings

I have trouble stopping the run. Well, it was trouble but now I realize that there really aren't that many players in the game with outstanding tackle ratings.

<font color="red">Of all the LBs in the game only 21 of them have tackle ratings above 90(using official sega roster update)<font color="white">

Now there are only 2 HBs with Break Tackle ratings of over 90(Fred Taylor and Ricky Williams). But the other guys still break tackles better than most of the LBs tackle so it is realistic. Just frustrating.

I didn't mention it but I also didn't like how my DBs played sometimes. Again explained by ratings.

<font color="red">You can't simply look at the Coverage rating. You have to compare it to the opposing WR's Run Route rating.<font color="white">

Everything is falling into place. I think all of my discontent posts force me to reevalute and are an excellent out for me

These are the ratings that you should compare.

    Run Route-Coverage
    Break Tackle-Tackle
    Pass Block-Pass Rush
Run Block-Run Coverage(not real sure but makes sense)

there are alot of factors. i mean if someone can't cover then they probably have the speed to make up for it, if someone can't jump then they have the power to jar the ball loose.

kinda sux that these things need to be explained to people.

This the main reason I play all-rpo at defualt. Its provided me with the most realistic gaming experience thus far on 10 min qtrs. This is what drew me to nfl2k3 and away from madden03...the fact that the attributes in nfl2k actually mean something...ALL of them...not just speed.

Re: Alot Of Questions Answered By Ratings

There are multiple ratings that seem to effect all things, but I think that I agree with you, if I understand the topic of this posting. The primary rating seems to be the main driver of the differences in abilities.

But here is an example of the multiple ratings that I'm refering to:
Aggressiveness plays a big part in offensive linemen's ability to do the job. This rating is lower on most younger linemen, and higher with more year's experience.
Why this is, I don't know.
I would have thought that consistency would have more to do with this than aggressiveness just by the definition of the words, but, oh well. I will give the programers the benefit of the doubt and accept it as it is. I just know that my younger O-linemen who have pass blocking ratings in the 80's, have low aggressiveness and thus are terribly inconsistent with how well they pass block, regardless of their consistency, leadership, strength, speed, etc. ratings.
                Weird eh?

we've been discussing defensive player ratings, playbooks and techniques at GIG....

                      http://invisionfree.com/forums/GridI...?showtopic=463

It'd be cool if any of the more knowledgable posters could offer any input they have.

as for the Oline Ratings... I think Conistsnecy is the key there. The Aggression ratings are likely low because they are young and poissibly thinkining too much. The older guys are more aggressive because they're comfortable with the scheme and just go out do their...its more natural for them.

                      Its just a theory.

Well, I just had my most fullfilling game ever.

                            Steelers(me) @ Dolphins

                            Steelers-28
                            Dolphins-21

Who says Bettis is washed up? He scored the 2 TDs and 2-pt conversion that got me the W. It was only a 5-minute quarter game but Ricky only had 23 yds on 7 attempts. While Bettis and Zero-way had 8-47 and 13-44 respectively.

I gave up 2 KO return TDs to Rogers but I gotta work on that.

Burress had 11 rec for 186 yds. Thanks to being coverage by Flether whose coverage is lower than Burress' Run Route and Buckley whose coverage is even lower still. I don't think I threw on Surtain but like once or twice. Yeah, I was scared. Then he got hurt and Burress really got his shine on. LOL
