I have been trying something new, who else does this?

I guarantee a lot of people have tried playing this game like this. Since the season is over, and I have that pangy hurt associated with no more football (you know the feeling, like when Christmas is over) any way I wanted to go at the game from a different angle. So instead of being the coach or qb, I am strictly the GM. I handle all moves and such, but I just watch the game. Heck, I sprawl out on my little love seat I have in the den, and am swept away as if a real game is on. My franchise is the Falcons, I get mad when things aren't going well, and I stew over a loss. The games are extremly realistic, the camera angles are superb, and the pangs have subsided. Who else plays like this way on occasion? Let's swap details. And,touchy question, which game has the deeper GM like mode, our game or Madden?

Thats not a touchy question IMO. You must have not played Madden at all if you have to ask that though.

Madden has the deeper GM mode hands down... first off...Importable Draft Classes, then theres more realistic contract management, real coaches including actual assistants/coodinators...ability to hire retired players as head coaches or assistants. These are the aspects I particularly like about Madden's Franchise Mode but theres a WHOLE lot more. I'm just not into all that stuff though.

One thing that kinda kills it for me with Madden is that they have the draft BEFORE the free agency period begins. And I think that was a seriously half-assed attempt to fix the issue they had in 03 where alot of the top draft picks didn't get signed and were released back into free agent pool which was laughably unrealistic.

I wasn't into the franchise for all of the years I have played video football. For some reason I am stoked about franchise mode. Will keep me going until the real season starts and the new round of games come out. I did some research about the franchise after I made the post and discovered just how deep the GM mode is in Madden. I am going to try it and compare it with our ESPN.
