i know in legacy madden the CPU playcalling would take away plays you like to run over the course of a season. a lot of it because of the defensive playbooks gave them a lot to work with, and the ability to not man-lock players during man coverage, it was a little easier to disguise coverage.
now for 2k5, i'm trying to recall what the cpu does. unfortunately, i played the majority of it when i was around 15 years old, so i wouldn't have really been paying attention to it while playing (ironically that was the only time i ever broke the single season passing TD and yardage recrods).
so i was playing the cowboys as the giants. cowboys have a good d, 2 very good safeties, but garbage at cornerback. they didn't have anyone rated over 65, whereas my WR are 90, 84, 90, 75, 70, plus tiki barber.
first of all, the team just couldn't hold onto the ball. partly because i was using nerfed qb sliders off Bill's sliders, partly because i was trying to lead too much on crossing routes, others because of the game's wonky catch animations. threw the ball to tiki barber out of the backfield 7 times wide open, caught it maybe once and fell down.
but i digress. i couldn't move the ball doownfield, the only scoring i did was off short fields from dallas turnovers. so, the cowboy D primarily stayed in cover two, with occasional 2man coverage. i guess the CPU's logic was, it's working, so we're going to stick with it. and eventually it won them the game, since i overthrew a fade on said cover 2 and roy williams grabbed it and ran it back for a TD.
i want to see what you're experiences are. in the past, defenses ran too many doofy play that give easy scores, especially the CPU wanting to run bear every time you line up in an i formation
