Re: 2K5 movie that has me worried...

I understand that all we have to go by is videos right now but if you stick your neck with an opinion on a potential game killer when are not given certain info to go along with the footage. Do you know the difficulty level he is playing on? If not then how can you say that throw is a normal throw in the game. I mean my complaint in Madden about QBs is that they are too accurate unless you adjust the sliders but thats based on my prefrence.

I complain about Madden on the basis of things I have seen in the past that I hope will be changed. Some folks seem to be hoping ESPN or Madden sucks so it will justify them buying the other game.

If you feel that on any difficulty level that throw should not be completed or even attempted and it will warrant you not purchasing the game cool, but don't come out protecting your opinion with if it were Madden it would be a big deal cause I would feel the same way. Unless you are playing it your self or know the difficulty level then its hard to say for sure.

Yes, I feel that even on rookie level, those types of passes should not be possible. Now...I haven't played VC's game since NFL2K2, but (if i remember correctly) arm strength and accuracy was the same regardless of difficulty level. People who had 2K3 and 2K4 -- yall tell me, does this change according to difficulty level?
As far as i know, it was the CPU that got boosted in the higher difficulty levels, and not that the human-controlled player abilities diminished.

Is that directed at me? I already said (earlier in the thread) that if the game was Madden, I would have brought up the issue also
I'm not out hunting for flaws to "justify" any purchase -- I preordered BOTH games weeks ago and don't plan on returning either

I'll be sure not to bring to light any potential problems with your game in the future, because obviously people are thinking that my motives for posting this thread were to make ESPN2K5 look bad

My statemens were to folks in general but as far as your question goes after slider adjustments I think EA (NCAA and MAdden) and ESPN play pretty realistic QB accuracy wise. The issue shows up mostly during online play with EA games.

Last year ESPN 2k4 had a very diverse accuracy system. You could see every possible throw a NFL QB could make. Long, short, far to the left or right passes were the WR has to adjust. complete overthrows stuff that happens far in between in other games.

On lower levels of difficulty you have to remember who they are aimed at. Kids and super causal gamers who see the game want to play cause it looks cool. On EA games it bad too that s whay I always start off with the hardest or second to hardest level first and then adjust the sliders cause as video game player who has played 10 yard fight I have been at this for a while so its not much I haven't seen.

Im very psyched for this game but I have noticed this same flaw in alot of videos. There is a 10 minute demostration by Jeff Thomas over at gamespot that has clips of him showing the QB evade. In the clips the QB is shrugging off potential sacks and then riffling the ball perfectly down the field.

Im assuming all of the clips were on the easiest difficulty level so he could show off the moves... but nonetheless Im nervous about it because there always seems to be one big thing terribly wrong with the 2k games.

If this is just an issue with playing the game on rookie I will be totally psyched. I just dont think we could say one way or the other right now. Someone get a copy to Steve.

Someone get a copy to Steve.

man, read the posts. it's not an issue! and it wouldn't be an issue if it were in madden either for the one who HAD to bring madden into this.

the 9ers are supposed to get a huge momentum push and win this game. that means you could probably run back 50 yards and heave it with your eyes closed to TO and he'd probably catch it. basically to the question before, everyone on the 9ers have a big ratings boost meaning, yes, they are superhuman football players in this case.

oh please, this is really lame explanation IMO. so you're saying these games are an exception in game mechanics and playability? you're saying that the results are basically pre-determined? if so, what's the point of playing them then? this threads laughable really. if espn fanatics saw this exact same video and it was madden they'd be having a parade about how lame the play was and "when will EA ever get it right?" type attacks.

i'm not saying that ESPN will have this particular flaw all through it, a flaw that Madden has but most of these arguements including the one above are just ridiculious spin. why not just admit that the play looked dumb, is madden-like in how it occurred and that you hope it's a rare situation? that would bring alot more credibility than trying to spin it with such nonsense as "the players are players of destiny and they can do great things cuz it's a classic game and that team won, etc etc"

Oh please, eh? Take the lame explanation complaint to VC then, ODogg. Read up on what the 25th anniversary situational stuff is about before you start throwing your usual closed minded opinions around.

Personally I won't be playing too many of these b/c I'm not a fan of altered ratings. I also raised an eyebrow at the McNabb video previously mentioned. But THIS video the 9ers are meant to win. Sorry if you don't like it. But I'm not surprised of course.
