A $25 price tag might have been better....

at least in terms of marketing. Madden is doing a collector's edition at $60. ESPN could have said that the price of $25 is b/c it is ESPN's 25th anniversary and is special edition in quality and price. That would make sure people know in the future it will be the usual price. You'd somewhat get rid of the $20=crap game excuse. Plus the money factor of getting a extra $5 per copy.

I'm glad they decided on $20. Extra $5 in my pocket.

I think $25 may have been better from a marketing standpoint in that it would have given espn 2k5 some seperation and distinction (in terms of price) from the "platinum hits" collection of older games and other budget titles that are either a) released at that cheap price, or b) are quickly marked down.

But from a consumer standpoint...the cheaper the better!

Madden is doing a collectors edition? What are they going to do with it? I think the twenty dollar price tag is cool, b/c from working in retail most people pay with twenty dollar bills all the time. Therefore when they see something that 19.99 even though the tax will be over 20.00 the base price is still under $20, and therefore they will buy it. $5 bucks can make a big difference.

Yeah, there is a special $60 PS2 Madden 2005 (still has the usual $50 one as well). It has all the old games before it hit the PS2. May have some other goodies I haven't seen yet. And itz not available for the Xbox.

That would of been a great idea, why didn't VC/Take 2 think of that.
