    Can anyone offer passing tips?

    Hello all!

I was wondering of you guys could offer me some tips to improve my passing game...I played Madden back in the Genesis days, but switched to the ESPN series w/ 2k4. For some reason I am having trouble passing with 2k5...I have yet to complete 50% of my passes and I have only thrown for over 200 yards once (using 7 minute quarters).

Any suggestions? Or should I look into upping my sliders?

    Thanks!

Don't try to take control of the receiver, look for open man, lead the receiver only when necessary, and practice. The most fun way of practicing is to play in OFFENSE ONLY games. Oh, and bump up your sgame speed to FAST-the REC cuts jump out at you.

Passing in ESPN is based on 3, 5, and 7 step drops. If you try to manually drop back your QB all the time like you have to do in Madden you will either drop back so far that you will leave the pocket and get sacked or you will destroy the timing of the routes. It's all about timing.

Let the the CPU drop back your QB and wait for him to set his feet. He sort of "bounce" I like to call it. When he sets his feet or "bounces" hit the pass button. Your completion rate will sky rocket. Also sometime you need to hit the catch button when throwing to receivers, especially in tight coverage to make them go and get it. On PS2 it's the triangle. On the Box it's the yellow button or "y".

Try these tips and you will be shredding defenses in no time.

                1. Don't drop back 20 yrds.
                2. Practice
**3. Know where you primary receiver is and get the ball to him - quickly**
                4. Practice
                5. Go deep only when the situation calls for it...mix in some PA and some rollouts.
                6. Don't throw into double or triple coverage.

These tips help me pass in the 55% - 60% range...

Another thing. For everyone that is throwing a to of interceptions, the DB's in the ESPN/2K games are best described as evil. They will disguise coverages, they will break on poorly thrown balls, (if you are throwing off of your back foot they will pick you off), the linebackers will sometimestake deep drops and float into passing lanes.

You have to be patient. You have to establish some type of running game to keep the CPU honest. You have to not force balls into coverage (unless it's TO or Moss). And take what the defense gives you.
