Use your free saftey, that's what position we use in our league. Also fill up your before making a tackle, that is if you have a chance to.

          Roster Update -11-31-08
          This update includes:
          1) Transactions up to 11-31
          2) new playbooks for each team (this makes each team tough to stop a big upgrade to the game play)
          3) New player ratings for the Offense
          4) Team adjustments using this years statistics
          5) Individual Player rating adjustments based on this years stats
          6) Every rookie given updated equipment
          7) Hold ball raised for all wr and te's
          8) New players added
          and many more minor tweaks.
This will be the last big rating adjustment for a while. Our ratings are right were we want them and we will try to release an update at least every month with little adjustments and player transactions.

I will post a franchise later this week, I suggest using the -25% formula as stated in permalink #192 in this thread.

I'm on the fence here man. I seen the ratings and almost said forget it. I decided to play a quick game (Panthers vs Bucs) for a couple series, and they actually played pretty good. Seen a couple DB goofs from my (Bucs) corners, but other than that, they played pretty damn good. Some of these ratings are just hard to stomach.

Db goofs? did you have the eq on. To be honest I didn't want to have to use the large attributes but the game is too easy without using them. Yea, the player ratings are high, but I'd rather have the game play at the level we wanted it to play at, rather than worry about if a guy is rated 87 instead of 76. To us the ratings are still there, the gap is there among star, good and bad players there just higher than they would be. This enables the game to be a challenge week in week out. It's no fun to play a cpu team using normal ratings no matter what sliders you use. For example you can use a roster that doesn't have large att's, but you would have to turn the pursuit up so high that it makes the game unrealistic, by using large atts players are better and teams that are not that great are not comparable to a crappy college squad.

EQ? Never played w/, might try em w/ it. Like I said man, it played good for the little bit of time I played it. My worry is I'm a franchise guy, does everyone hover around 90-100 after a couple years.

DB's: Yea, it wasn't quite the circle animation, it looked more like the DB not knowing where the man was.

I don't totally agree. I wouldn't change anything if I were you. It obviously works for you, but I was thinking about this on the way in to work this morning while listening to Mike and Mike. Mark Schlerith(sp) was talking about the Pack and how the line isn't blocking for Rodgers like they did for Favre last year. Anyway, it sort of make me think about something I've been noticing in my season (playing 1985 right now). If you do not know the year, this might not be as helpful-

I have been losing a lot lately, although I have been playing underdogs a lot too, and I noticed a couple of things that are usually the same. First, some QBs are still throwing in the high 40 percentile. Those are usually QBs that I am pressuring the hell out of on a consistant basis. Not always sacking, but always in the backfield.
The Qbs that are throwing in the 60% range are usually well protected and just misfire or get the occasional drop. Those that have been torching me, like Fouts and Dieter Brock recently, have had good QB numbers + good protection. In Brock's case, my d-line had no rush at all (Falcons) and he just sat back there and picked me apart. Fouts had a good line, great receivers and great QB numbers. He threw almost 80% against me (I believe it was 78%).

What I think a lot of this comes down to is that it isn't really the QB numbers that equal the good completion %, but rather a good o-line that can give that QB time to pick his guy and let him bust loose. I don't think you need large attributes. On the other hand, you can't rate your d-line with all 70-90s pass rush either. I posted my chart a while back and between that and pretty high pass block numbers, the sacks and hurries are a little more normal. I even stunt my d-line. The good guys still get their numbers (Gastineau as 14 sacks after 10 weeks), but the QB can actually throw the ball.

Seems to be a basic attribute of football. Protect the Qb and good things will happen.

Anyway, as far as the Mike and Mike thing goes, Schlerith said nobody can cover an NFL receiver for 4 or more seconds no matter who you are. That bears out in my league when the QB has time to throw. It sure makes defense more interesting too.

JSOU, I just found out that your Franchise was only intended for one season. I want to continue using your Franchise and Settings, but I want to go into multiple seasons. So couldn't I use Finn's editor to go in and do some Global edits to the draft classes to get their attributes in line with what you did with the rest of the players? At least I think I can load the Franchise and edit the draft class. If so, what would I need to change?

Btw, i'm using the Roster/Franchise/Settings files from the thread "JSOU'S Final 2008-2009 NFL Roster". It plays just fine for me, like it very well, and don't want to start all over again now that you've re-adjusted the rosters and settings. So with that in mind, is there some global changes I can do to the draft classes in that Franchise i'm using so that I can play multiple seasons? If not, that's cool. Thanks for all the work.
