just out of curiosity...out of what i'm reading here, do these rosters need a TON of work still done to them? i appreciate them being posted here, but if they need numerous changes and are full of inaccuracies, then i'll just wait...thoughts? thanks!

thanks! definitely will. again, i'm not being critical as i'm extremely appreciative of what people post here. just wanted clarification of how much work they needed. i read a few posts above where a team needed numerous changes, so i was a bit skeptical.

not to attack your post-- i of course read you are not intending criticism-- just throwing out the reminder @ no one in particular

this is the offseason. absolutely no one can deliver 100% accurate rosters simultaneous to the necessary updates. Furthermore, rosters/cuts themselves are speculative at this point (see the many Philly Eagle-related posts above). Until final cutdowns, seeing a roster requiring "numerous changes" shouldn't make you at all skeptical of the final product. although people expect perfect updated rosters to be available 365d/y, this will not happen.

252 drafted rookies need to be created...

with accurate hts, wts, DOBs, body-types, combine measures (40 time, vertical leap etc), face/skin, equipment, and positional attributes. ~100 more undrafted but signed rookies require the same. Rookie OVR ratings are generally based on draft position, scouting reports from various services or a blend of both. Try doing this for just 1 player & then imagine doing that 350 more times.

~1700+ veteran players will need ratings updates to reflect 2007 results:
while all 1700+ may not change dramatically, this is still a tremendous project in itself & is very subjective too; Who declined just due to injury & shouldnt significantly see their ratings drop (aside from DUR)? Who was injured but also aged dramatically independent from the injury & should see a ratings drop? Who benefited from a system & will suck w/ his next team/with his new coach/new offense/new teammates etc (see Jason David moving from cover-2 to man). Who will thrive back in an ideal system (see Fred Smoot's rejuvenation w/ the skins). Many of these ratings could be derived formulaically (secure ball based on fumbles per touch, durability based upon starts missed, etc) all of which need to be derived and implemented.

1700+ contracts need to be updated for 2008
. once Finn completes the advance contracts tool, this will be much easier but there will still be 800 or so new deals to enter by hand each year.

coach ratings, playbooks, shell defenses, team shoes, etc... all need to be taken care of in addition to the 4th string signings & depth chart changes that many are commenting on (often constructively i realize).

My point is not to whine (as i said: suggestions/help are always welcome here when made constructively/in good faith), rather just to remind everyone that when ppl expect this kind of work to be delivered w/ accuracy & attention to detail.... when do they expect it to get done? The offseason is the only time available. If any roster-maker (basically working alone), misses that a reserve tackle moved to center, or a long-tenured DE may or may not make a team, you probably shouldn't consider those as significant changes that need to be made. It's just part of the process

See what Josh, Dan, FunNGun, Daflyboys, myself etc are posting come final cutdowns. I don't think you'll be disappointed...

the way i figured out how to do this is to install finn's editor, open the franchise file, and make it so you only control one team then transfer it to your hardrive and you only control that team.

i fully understand and agree with what you're saying...the only point i was making (and probably should have just kept my mouth shut) was that it appeared the transactions listed for the eagles (for example) were fairly basic ones that were common knowledge...so i assumed that there were other teams that had this issue as well.

i don't play franchise games, only exhibition...so the exhibition roster is the only one that appeals to me and that was the one that needed a lot of changes.

but i'm pretty patient, so i'll just wait for the finalized roster.

and puja, i LOVE your rosters and have used them for some time...i'm not purchasing madden ever again, so i'm very thankful for those who continue to work on this game, keeping the rosters updated for those of us who want another option to the overly-hyped madden game.

Excellent post puja. I agree 100%.

For those who download rosters to play with -

If you dont like something about the roster in regards to your respective team(s) or just in general, then fix it yourself.

I do know how you guys feel though, when I started downloading rosters a few years ago and even now, there will always be things that simply bug me or that I dont agree with but instead of complaining about it, I decided a long time ago to just take the time to create my own rosters instead. This way, the roster is the way that I personally want it to be for me while giving others another roster to choose from while at the same time, keeping it different from other rosters. After all, if every roster was exactly the same, there would be no point in having several rosters to choose from.

Bottom line is that either fix the stuff that you dont agree with yourself or create your own roster. Enough said.

AFC West finished for Update #2. Also thanks to all the help with the transactions. I know a lot of you guys update these rosters on your own and that's cool, but the next update will be for those who either don't have time, or want to. I also just want to say this game is great, I put it in for a little afc west showdown and lost 24-13. I was the Chiefs and Sd's team is a beast, especially to run on. Adding in kc's qb situation, it was definitely tough to move the ball.
Almost 500 downloads, wow. this game is definitely alive!
