    I guess that AI statement makes sense. It would be an arcade game if they had "gamebreaker" type situations. But with the realism this company is obviously shooting for I just can't see them doing that.

    This isn't the type of engine you apply to a football game and take little cheap shots at Madden to make another Blitz game. That would be a tremendous waste of money on their part.

    Just my 2 cents.

      Obviously the tackles WON'T be blitz. However the gameplay is probably what is "arcade". I assume that the "arcade" aspect comes from the more wide open gameplay that it will probably have. I'm sure it'll be like NCAA 09 without dumbed down AI. I guess we'll never know until it drops.

      But this whole half sim half arcade thing the devs said still has me confused.

        That's not necessarily true. If it's a return of the torpedo tackling from the 32/64 bit generation, then it could just be the worst tackling engine of any major game. As of now, we don't know a damn thing about the tackling engine other than the tackles will all be different.

            My skepticism mainly comes from imagining an American football game being made by a European based company. My expectations remain at the floor.

              actually, canned motion capture will be around for awhile. All Euphoria does is assist in making certain environmental animations look better. It's a more realistic ragdoll simulation, that makes characters brace for a hit, protect their head, etc. It will then blend back to motion capture animations once the character is in a position to use one of the canned animations. So, even Backbreaker will have plenty of canned motion capture animations in use.

              Here's an interesting article about whether or not euphoria will ever truly take the place of motion capture. It even highlights how GTA 4 and The Force Unleashed actually used it, as people think it's used for everything.

                        Yes its been known mo-cap will be used in certain aspects, however, if you guys have ever tried the euphoria trial version you will see that have a ton of "behaviors" which are animations in themselves, however they still use the engine. You can't really call this a ragdoll physics engine, or else the players would die upon impact. If you read the article again the writer mentioned guys dragging other guys. Also in a video comparison NatrualMotion did they showed what the difference between their engine and the ragdoll was. Also, even in the Euphoria demo, different tackling behaviors were present, so this game will not be only "torpedo" tackles. Taking the A.I. from tackle alley and thinking its the final A.I. would be ignorant because you are forgetting that Tackle Alley is a mini-game, which is made to be beaten. It even said in the article the guy who played it couldn't make it to the endzone, which means it got harder since the preview video.

                          True. But so is assuming the AI will be better than that of other football games when this company is making its first football game and every football game ever made has had AI issues. Plus we've seen nothing so far regarding the AI. Maybe they'll get it right (highly unlikely IMO) but no one can say either way yet.

                            Well I never said anything about the A.I. being perfect, if I hinted at it I was just being optimistic. However, if you guys think about it, they haven't had to go through and put in any animations, save the ones that have to be used like I said, therefore they have had TONS of time to work on other aspects of the game. I would assume they'd get their gameplay right before moving on to other stuff.
