Re: What is the best football game of all time?
What exactly was better. For me 2k5 had better franchise mode The stats were realistic, the AI actually traded during the season and not just during the draft, the injuries were realistic, sliders worked beautifully, the passing game is probably one of the most realistic if not the most realistic in any video game.
What 2k5 is better at than Madden 11
- Franchise mode as a whole
- The passing game is more realistic
- Injuries(simmed and in game)
- Tackling
- Ratings worked a lot better
- Presentation kills Madden easily
What Madden 11 is better at
- Graphics are so much better even though the players are a little on the cartoon side
- Locomotion is a little better just because 2k5 had ugly run animations and you could turn on a dime more often than not
- Run blocking is a lot better this year
- Sideline catches, even though they may be too good right now
Overall, I will play the newest NFL game over 2k5 just because I can play it and be in a party.
I would hope the graphics are better since this is a completely different console generation.
You seriously think the animations in Madden 11 trump the animations in NFL2k5? Wow...
Sideline catches in 2k are amazing. There are TONS of sideline and back of the endzone animations that fit the situation. It looks incredible in 2k. Madden has decent ones now, after 6 years and about 3 iterations of trying to implement the simple sideline catch.
Madden 11 looks to have really good run blocking (finally). It still doesn't have a correct pocket with awesome interaction between the OL and DL (which 2k5 had down), and it still has horrid tackling animations (the DB piggy back jump tackle comes to mind).Comment

Re: What is the best football game of all time?
38. Out of the choices available, I chose 2K5. But the football games that got the most play and the ones that I loved were NCAA Football '04-06.
Sadly, I haven't had the same feeling towards any football game since ESPN 2K5 and those NCAA games. However, I think NCAA and Madden have finally started to turn the corner on this gen... we'll see.Comment

I appreciate 2K5 and especially its presentation more and more every year. Those guys probably didn't even realize at the time how great a product they were about to unleash.Comment

Re: What is the best football game of all time?
30 and have been a 2k5/APF fanboy for years...however, I must finally concede the crown to Madden 11 fellas. I was so anti-Madden a few years ago, until EA went a step in the right direction with '10. Even up until last year I was playing APF much more than '10. This year the Madden team improved on '10 enough to where I can objectively say they've got the title. Is '11 perfect? Hell no. But neither was 2k5/APF. What counts is the total experience, and my experience with '11 has be wonderful.Comment

best football game of all time? why it has to be TROY AIKMAN football, "remember they took his brain and put it in a game" LOL!!!!! just kidding to me it's with no question 2K5, i loved at the end of the season and during the season mel kiper would talk about guys going to new teams and he'd talk about the upcoming draft prospects, little things like that really made a difference i wish madden did that but maybe someday, oh yeah and i'm 44 and love my video gamesComment

53 here and in no order,
Espn 2k5, Fb Pro98, Madden 04,APF 2k8
If there was a game that had the onfield gameplay of 2k8 and the total editing of Fb pro98 I'd be in heaven...Comment

22. NFL 2K5, but I played the tar out of Tecmo Super Bowl and Tecmo III: Special Edition (I think that's what they were calling it) for years. I remember being thrilled by the possibility of creating players, haha, and this new thing called trades which you had to have approved by the computer for some reason. The Last of Us is the Citizen Kane of video-games. It is better than every game that has ever come before it, and is the new benchmark for all games to follow. It is nothing short of a work of art.Comment

Re: What is the best football game of all time?
I am a recent convert to NFL2K5. This game is a revelation for this hardcore Madden player. Hands down the best simulation of NFL football to ever grace the consoles. I love this game. The presentation is just so money. The stats are fantastic. And the gameplay is super tight.
So here are my rankings for all time great football titles. My age is 40 years old.
1) NFL2K5
2) NCAA 2011
3) Madden 2005
I am very much looking forward to Madden 2011 tomorrow. Playing in an online sim league will really enhance it's replay value for me. I think Madden is getting close to 2K5 but they need to overhaul the presentation and offline franchise to take the prize. Madden 2010 made huge strides visually, but awful AI runied the game and the passing game was just too tough and not fun at all. too many money plays underneath, no deep game...the list goes on.
NFL2K5 was indeed the Madden killer and that is why EA bought the license. They knew they were in big trouble if NFL2K was allowed to continue and grow. No doubt in my mind about that now. How I overlooked this brilliant game (XBOX version) is beyond me but I am so glad I have joined the party and am enjoying playing a real NFL game with the complete package of franchise and presentation.
Madden 2005 was and is still an awesome game. But NFL2K5 has it licked with presentation. That is the major difference, plus the passing game as well.Comment
