That's not really the way you made it sound. You made it sound as if Madden never does. Not sure why.

Purely subjective, and again, I love 2k5 favorite game of all time, but Madden's animations at least imo, are starting make 2k's look their age.

2k5 was truly ahead of it's time, but I swear, people are making it out to be somthing it wasn't.

It was a bad *** game when it game out. But it is old and it is really looking old every time I play it. The animations are finally out dated. It had to happen someday and it finally has. I am glad you guys are having fun with this game, but I am going to put mine up and will retire it like I did my other great games. Like Hardball for the Genesis and Pitfall for the Atari 2600 and Islander for Nintendo.

I'm a newb to this board...but to me..it seems like Madden 11 took a page from 2k5 and did a knock off on game play and transition graphics. For play, 2k kicks Madden's butt. Madden 11 has improved, but I think if 2K5 wasn't restricted by the licensing issue, it would wipe the floor with Madden 11. Too bad only one gaming company (EA) can put out NFL games. Competition makes things better.. I used to prefer 2K5, now am stuck with Madden..and feel like I'm playing 2k5 from 5 years ago. Not that it's bad, but feel Madden 11 should have improved beyond that.

I hated NFL2k5, so the winner is easily Madden

I'd still play 2k5 over Madden 11 pretty easily if my original xbox didn't die. I throw in APF 2k8 from time to time and still love the gameplay.

It was a good run and a fun game, but Madden11 is just so much better in my opinion. I guess I would compare it to a game on the sega genesis vs Sega console.
trade it in? you'll literally get like 10 cents for it.

Really 10 cents? I will take that. 10 cents is still better than nothing. Also, 9 more dimes and I got a dollar. Get the point?

yeah. You don't care for it anymore. I get that. Though I think it's a more realistic playing game of football overall, I don't care much for it nowadays either. But I sure wouldn't waste my time and gas to go trade a game for 10 cents and I'm sure you wouldn't either and you're just making a point.

True, about the gas. So maybe I will just keep it and retired it with the other games I saved over time.

I don't get how you guys think the animations in Madden 11 are better? They are so clunky, awkward, robotic, and a lot of them don't make sense when they trigger....don't you think? The animations in 2k5 are smooth, more natural, organic, and make sense when they happen. For instance, in Madden if I'm on defense and running full blast into a ball carrier who happens to be standing still, the game doesn't take that situation into account, and whatever random tackle (or miss tackle) animation happens to pop up. Sometimes, the ball carrier will fall forward instead of backwards in a situation like this, which makes it look so awkward. In 2k5, the game takes into account speed, position, etc. and the correct collision animation will occur which makes it look more natural. Also, 2k5 has double hit tackles where if one guy already has the ball carrier wrapped up, I can come in and hit him back. But in Madden, there is a force field around the them, you can't effect them, and you'll just fall down

Easily M11. I mean 2k5 was a great game for it's time. It's probably 2nd on my list of all-time football games only behind Super Tecmo Bowl. However, now it's just outdated. Hell, IMO it was outdated 3 years ago. I tried playing it when Madden 08 had the franchise freezing issue and I couldn't make it out of the 1st quarter.

I choose neither. 2k5 is 6 years old. I can't play any game for 6 years without getting really, really tired of it. Madden on ps2 is my personal favorite, but that game is just as old and has run its course too.

That said, Madden 11 has an arcady feel to it. It has terrible tackle animations, terrible defense, boring franchise and is just plain boring overall imo.

The state football gaming is in right now, I'm looking forward to the NHL demo today instead. I might convert to hockey for my gaming "fix".

I think it says a LOT about 2k5's quality that this thread even exists.

I still have two copies of 2k5 myself, and APF2k8. I even popped both games back in the weekend prior to Madden 11's release and enjoyed them both. But I have to admit, after playing 2k5 all these years, it is finally showing it's age, but only in the sense to me that it just feels tired.

2k5 still looks incredible for it's age, and it's animation system and fluidity still amazes me. It still can't be matched for presentation, and it has great commentary and a very strong user base to keep it's rosters updated.

But Madden is finally catching up with it...it took THIS long, but it's very nearly there. The gameplay has come a LONG way, now they need to re-vamp franchise and Superstar modes, and pump up the presentation and they are there.

I played Madden 10 last year and never touched 2k5, for the first time in years. The only reason I'll pop in 2k5 these days is to enjoy the ESPN-ness of it's presentation (perfection) and to keep my old franchise going lol.

Bottom line for me is that Madden 10 and now 11 are very good games; not perfect, but leagues better than Madden 09 (cringe). In fact, they are the best Madden games I've ever enjoyed. 2k5 still holds the edge for overall presentation and fluidity, but Madden's gameplay and updated looks win out for me.

It's my hope the Madden team continues to look at 2k5 and MLB: The Show for inspiration to deliver a great all-around experience.

NFL 2K5 is still light years ahead of Madden. I have played both and have Madden 11.....EA has lots of work to do. I wish people would just tell the truth about 2K5 vs. Madden and just admit that Madden is not living up to the hype.

Once you get to see the depth of 2K5 you question yourself as to why even are you playing Madden. Things like penalties (off setting penalties at that!) commentary etc. 2K5 is the KING. Madden has a long long way to go to pass it.

Yes I like Madden, but please no Madden defenders....stay calm. Both games are good, but 2K5 is just on another level. Graphics only get you so far.....That is why we play the game.
