What everybody forgets is the community power : to be able to tweak the game (something that Madden fails) in what comes to rosters, draft class, sliders and having it quickly is something really awesome.

Makes me think about nhl 04 on the pc, which has awesome updates each and every weak.


Also it depends what you want in a video game : simulation players would often go to 2k5, because you can play a franchise in a good simulation way, good stats and great TV feeling (custom soundtracks with Fox, NBC or CBC opening themes).

Although, if you want to play online, online franchise, you can't do it with 2k5.

And graphically, I have to give a lot of credit to 2k on this : they're pretty great.

I can't for the life of me understand the love for NFL2k5.

I don't play 2k5, but I absolutely love 2k8. I guess we love these game because there comes a time where one on one tackles, players and footballs warping across the field, 3(maximum) new animations each year and very detailed midget people sticking together, gets old.

I forgot to add lack of defense, but then again that's not really needed in football game you intend to sell for $60.

As far as the total NFL experience NFL2K5 is king. I love playing the classic rosters and re-writing history. The presentation is just so out of this world. There is no football game that comes close.

Gameplay wise NFL2K5 is very tight and it still holds up.

Now I do really enjoy Madden 2011. With the right slider set (MikeOwnz is what I have had great success with) and going in and tweaking all 32 teams offensive and defensive gameplans I am getting a very enjoyable sim like franchise. And the game does look beautiful (as it should it's 2010). I want to see dirty unis and field degredation though...no excuse for not having that. The game play feel s superb in the running and passing game. There are some things that are broken and need to be patched no doubt.

I think Madden 2011 is the best since 2005/07 hands down.

I don't any reason people can't enjoy both games. They are both great football titles IMO.

I think it comes down to the notion of "does the game represent my perception of how the real game is supposed to feel/look". I was an ardent fan of the 2k hockey series and several of the version could be tweaked and worked out to get the feel of hockey just right. The EA version of hockey didn't capture that "feel" factor for me. But I will take this year's version more seriously. 2K, being tweakable, still gives me the feel of watching or being part of the game. Sure, it has its' flaws and drawbacks. I do remember years ago trying a version of Madden (maybe 04, can't remember now) and I couldn't get past how the QB moved on the drop step and while in the pocket.... again, didn't quite have that "feel" for me.

I don't (see) any reason (why) people can't enjoy both games. They are both great football titles IMO.

I have a hard time playing Madden because as I play I see things that drive me crazy and then I get mad because of the exclusive license. I have played alot of games, but the last 6-8 times I couldn't even finish a game without wishing I was playing 2k5 and then I turn of the PS3 and turn on my xbox.

I got a new tv yesterday and I didn't have time last night to play any football games, but tonight I am more excited to see how 2k5 looks then I am about Madden 11. Something is wrong with that.

Does anyone else think 2k players stand out more on the field? Maybe it's because they're so much more detailed than the field. The pop out. Makes finding receivers easier. Just me.

To me the opening kickoffs say it all.

In Madden the KR runs it out and guys are flying off the returner. Seriously, at the end of the play all 11 Vikings players are around the returner and I believe all but 3 try to engage in the tackle but it ends up a 1on1 tackle.

In 2K5 it's a nice 2 man animation with the 3rd defenders momentum taking him out of the play.

There are just too many plays in EA's games where the guys move unnaturally because some animation kicks in.

There is an overall "physicality" to 2K5 that Madden just can't capture.

I've got a longer rant coming for this, cause there are definitely things about 2k5 that frustrate me somewhat now, but I've got to say...I keep trying to find reasons to come back and play Madden 11 over 2k5...and the only major one I've got is that it looks better. Something about this is really depressing...
