Peter Moore believes in what's best for his business at Electronic Arts.

In this case, it's heated competition between the two consoles - which means more sales for EA's games - and the NFL exclusivity license for his company - which means the effective elimination of competition of directly competing similar products to EA's Madden NFL game.

It has nothing to do with his stance on competition, it has everything to do with his company's ability to make money.

We all get that though. It's obvious what he was talking about and what his actual concern is in the matter.

"Consumers love it as well, and it's good for the industry," Moore said. "You need powerful companies like Sony and Microsoft to be battling out with each other because it drives investment in their platforms. It drives competition. You want to see Nintendo come back with the Wii U. All in all, it becomes healthy for gamers, for the environment. When you have a runaway winner, that actually has a reverse effect."

This is what the problem is. If the dude wants Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo slugging it out cause it lines his pockets, great. Glad you're honest there Pete. But shut the **** up talking about what's best for consumers and gamers in the line of competing products because you clearly don't give two ****s about consumers/gamers benefiting from competition based on your own company's practices and it doesn't help anybody for you or anybody else at EA to continue rubbing that in everybody's faces acting like you're all for competition while you're continuing to put your boot on competition's throat.

So then why read into it so much if it's obvious what he's talking about? He doesn't even mention EA Sports in that quote.

Peter Moore wasn't even employed by Electronic Arts in 2004 when the exclusivity agreement was signed. As far as Moore is likely concerned at this point, the exclusivity arrangement is just part of the cost of doing business with respect to Madden NFL at this point, and no modern contemporaries to Madden have been created since he arrived at EA Sports.

Further, what responsibility does Moore have to ensure that competition for his company's products exist? He's only responsible for what happens at EA.

The deal has been re-upped twice since he's been there. Like I said, EA can stand to not have people popping off about how good competition is for gamers knowing the image that projects for them. These companies care about image, we all know this. Stop throwing yourself in the line of gunfire.

Not really.

I enjoy the video games I play, love to come here and discuss them.

I don't get that worked up over any of them. If I'm not happy I just don't play them, not much else I can do.

Define getting all worked up? I posted something I didn't agree with and didn't like. Made a comment about how I feel about EA and that was that. Getting all worked up didn't register in my thoughts. I shared an opinion on an internet message board. I haven't missed any days of work at this point. I haven't fractured any friendships because I'm consumed by rage at EA. I saw something, didn't like it, shared it here in an appropriate place to exchange opinions and ideas with people and went about my way.

I don't see the point of going after people anytime they say something we don't agree with as if they're whole world revolves around said topic on an internet message board. But have it I guess.

My guess is it's the kind of language in response to the comments. I agree with the idea that it's extremely hypocritical of Moore to make comments like that, but cursing about it is a little over the top.

But hey, to each his own. People have gotten very upset about a lot of things on these forums. Passion is passion.
