That's outside of the guys like HipHopGamer who just says a 2k game is coming every video hoping one day to be right.
YouTubers with a pretty good standing as well. But he said he heard it from a reliable source. So that's what I'm on the fence about. Even knowing he wouldn't put his neck on the line for faulty info, I just can't take that word of mouth from any mouth but the horses. ALSO, 1 reason why it may be legit, is because HHG knows a lot about 2K's EcoSystem or whatever its called, and he spoke about it featuring weather patters and wind......what other sport game do they have that would need weather and wind? Surely not NBA.

That video was just the newest thing to get hopes up. The main reason for optimism is because EA won't confirm their newest deal is exclusive. EA and the NFL announces that and all the speculation goes away. But they refuse, even when asked directly by media sources, so the hope continues this year.

I haven't read through the entire thread, but where does this actually stand? Is there ANY news about 2k development at all? Is this all entirely speculation?

I believe some of it started back in January during an investors call which I remembered reading but couldn't remember the whole story until FaceMask posted the following:

FaceMask it was said during the live investors call that 2K Sports had some new titles in the works to be announced at a later time. What they are is the question, and hopefully answers will come at E3

Then in the past week as mentioned above it was brought up in a YouTube video.

Exactly...that is the heart of the matter. Youtube videos, face scan rumors, the hopes that come with a new console generation (see APF 2k8), unnamed sources, announcements made by 2k that it is bringing "new games" but not specifying them by name (leaving more room for speculation), certain "historically" EA supporters suddenly lamenting the loss of competition, cash & resources recently "freed up" by no longer dealing with the MLB game - all of those items and more would fall by the wayside if EA or NFL would just say "We are continuing our exclusive license partnership."

You summed it all up perfectly. The point is there is still hope and the fact that the NFLPA wants to expand there licensing agreements beyond EA as proven with today's news http://kotaku.com/new-football-game-...e-m-1583834047 helps tremendously

Mobile games have never been part of the exclusivity that I'm aware of. That was just a contest to get people to make a game with the NFLPA.

Correct, the deal only covered console games, and the title which won the NFLPA Mobile Madness contest is not the first non-console game to receive NFLPA license (for example, the online-only game Quick Hit Football was granted an NFL license in either 2009 or 2010, I forget which).

Yea that's not new. The exclusive deal was only for consoles. There have been nfl games on iPhone for a while now that EA didn't make

The point of a contest like that (aside from PR) I'd think is you now have 'hundreds' of projects that are that much closer to paying the NFLPA for a license, in theory.

They aren't the best I agree, but madden is the only football game to ever have them. It is a engine that they obviously plan on improving every year. If 2k came out with a game with 2 hit tackles still, IMO I would be let down. My point is madden has a game engine that is next gen that has been worked on for years and will continue to improve. 2k also has a physics engine but I have yet to see it work with more than 2 player models (NBA 2k)

This is interesting. I haven't been on here in months and this isn't your normal 2k is coming back every year rumor. As some said, 2K has referenced about how they have multiple new titles to be announced at a later date. I get saving info for E3, but usually they say we are revealing a "insert sport" game and if you wanna know more, watch E3.

Think about it, when it was announced they took over the WWE license, it came out right away that they had got the license. Yet they are being very quiet about what the new titles are. Has some said too, EA has been silent about Madden 15. You can say they waited to announce the cover vote because of the draft date change and the cover vote started the same day as the draft.

Usually by now, even after the cover vote we know something about their big back of the box feature(I know I know, transformation, etc).

E3 is going to be very interesting this year.

I guess you forgot about backbreaker. The game wasn't great but, the real time physics were pretty awesome at times. The physics are better in a lot of ways than Madden. Maddens physics are still very animation and mo caped based so calling them "real time physics" is a stretch.

Backbreaker's player interaction is the strongest point of the game and its tackling still may be the best I've seen in football video games. The NaturalMotion physics and entity behavior engines were pretty powerful stuff. It's a shame the rest of the game couldn't keep up.

That said, Madden is running physics in real-time and modifying the results with animations though. It is real-time physics, but the players don't have the idea of self-preservation and autonomy that those within the NaturalMotion engine do - in Madden, the players are more like rag dolls being thrown at each other - and so the modifying of the physics calculation result with an animation ends up being necessary in order to have something that looks reasonable.

To be clear, I think Backbreaker's approach to that component of the game is the better solution.

It would be really nice if 2K could adopt NM's physics engine, and really tweak it to match with their system. Boy, that would be the day!

Correct. Maddens physics is governed by the animations. They are just layered on top of the animations. While in Backbreaker, everything at the point of contact is 100% physics and behavior (very little behavior, like stretching the arm out for the 1st down/touchdown which we never ever ever see in any Madden ever.)
